  • It’s been said the clean is just a swing that ends up in the rack.

    True enough - the hip hinge + snap should look identical to your swing (or snatch) technique.

    The tricky part is re-directing that line of power up to the shoulder smoothly and safely.

    If your kettlebell cleans feel jerky, wonky, or wimpy, watch this breakdown a few times and pick out a single cue to work on in your next workout.

    this helped a lot. Was having trouble with the eccentric, didn't realize I could release the bell to re-grip and lower!

    I have seen the bell turned 90 deg at the beginning to avoid the wrist rotation

    Is this more of a shoulder exercise (besides the legs and hips)? thanks! Love the slow motion, I can learn from this. If not, what is the purpose of this movement, thanks again

      Not a direct shoulder exercise, no, as there is very little movement of the shoulder itself. For the upper body, we’re mainly working the upper back and biceps with the eccentric catch. The overall purpose is hip power and getting the bells into position for other lifts like presses and squats.

    Better to do from the hike/swing or pulling from kettle bell starting on the ground? Which is the correct “kettle bell clean”?

      Swing clean vs dead stop clean two separate movements neither one is right or wrong they are different.

    Thats a swing. Not a clean. Lift it straight up as you would do with a barbell
