I could not wait to get your reaction of her segment when I watched the reunion, I was like... what in the Amber Heard is going on here? And I completely agree, no one else commenting on her literally getting arrested for assault is absurd

Mal is smart enough to show up good on camera. But that is not at all indicative of how she shows up irl or in her relationships.

@@cosodesign8953 I didn’t forget that she was the ultimatum receiver and I’m not saying she’s perfect, however, I can’t blame Mal for being hesitant she likely saw certain things in Yoly over the 3 years that caused that. She seems to have recognized that her inaction brought her to this point and decided to change. Yoly saw no flaws in herself and likely won’t grow from this any time soon. It takes two and I only saw one working at it.
I have no idea what Yoly’s appeal is/was for either of them…
I'm honestly shocked by how badly Netflix handled Tiff and Mildred. Tiff said on their instagram that what was shown was about 25% of what Mildred said, just the host allowing her uninterrupted to keep insulting Tiff. No hotline for DV or anything at the end of the episode? You know it would've gone down so different if the masc partner had been arrested for abusing the femme presenting one!
Same, the host should have stepped in during their argument but instead she was silent. And then after Mildred said something to the effect of I can’t stand to hear your voice and Tiff went silent, they both looked at the host waiting for her to say something but she just didn’t. I feel like Tiff wouldn’t have walked off the show if someone had stood up for them in that moment.
I understand JoAnna was probably shocked and just didn’t know what to do, but Netflix needs to hire hosts who are equipped to handle tough situations.
I feel like adding the hotline at the end would have even just acknowledge that it was DV in the first place. Like, it would both validate what Tiff went through and give others a resource.
I felt that the host , the other guests or someone else on the show should have addressed the emotional and verbally abusive behaviors Mildred openly displayed . Ie …. How she brought Tiff to tears and then walked out on her before they even made their choices at the party with others around , and her abusive language and verbal aggression towards Aussie. It was very hard to watch this person I literally turned to everyone in my living room and said that Mildred is someone who is an inch away from having someone make a domestic abuse or assault charge on her.

It seriously felt like Aussie was hindering Sam’s growth, while Sam is stuck in a caregiver role for Aussie who’s having to deal with 3-4 decades old shit they’ve barely even started working on. Super unfair to Sam, that damn patient angel.
I’m really disappointed that Netflix didn’t take proper precautions to keep Tiff safe from Mildred especially since Mildred has domestic charges against her.

When I first started the season I thought “Vanessa sucks but I always end up changing my mind in the end” and I did! The way they treated her was so mean and unnecessary. She was honest and apologetic but none of them wanted to hear it
Nah I still didn't like her at the end. Mal, Xander, Tiff and Sam were the best people for relationships on that cast. Lexi and Yoly were middle of the road (depends on who they're with). Rae, Aussie, Mildred, and Vanessa are the worst people to be in relationships with. Honestly think the last 4 are better single or at least not weighing down someone with their issues.

@@mjarmesI don’t necessarily think she was fake, I think she has a whole host of other issues that makes it easy for ppl to dislike her and not wanna change their minds about her. I think she’s selfish, puts her foot in her mouth, expects ppl to give her the benefit of the doubt, uses humor a lot to diffuse deep conversations. That definitely is an issue though bc if Vanessa jokes where a really serious answer is *required*, it’ll obviously give people the idea that she either doesn’t care or is giving a real answer. I do think Vanessa was able to reflect on her actions at the end, and cares for Xander in her own way, but obviously can still work on herself.

I was surpried at all the engagements... so glad there was a reunion. while I'm all for stating your needs and following through with them, such as walking away when your partner doesn't want to get married, the idea of pressuring someone into an engagement shouldn't be glamorized

I never cry at these shows. Like ever. But during Aussie’s meltdown I cried with Aussie. My heart broke so much for the trauma they obviously have gone through.

unpopular opinion, i really hated the way vanessa was treated this season. from the moment she popped on the screen i found her kind of off putting because of the decisions she makes and i knew immediatetly the type of hyper-whatever-comes-to-mind personality she had. HOWEVER, watching her get ganged up on, interegated, and made the villian made me uncomfortable because i knew she wasnt a bad person, she was just selfish and ignorant, seeing her force a smile while getting cussed out really gave me 2nd hand embarrasment because i saw how desperately she was trying to explain her self but every word she said made people upset. its like after that 1 date with the blonde EVERYONE decided to stop liking her, when in reality yoly and mildred were the problems

There really isn't anyone I liked, however I can confidently say that Vanessa, Mildred, and Yoly deserve everything coming to them, and I don't trust anyone who defends them.
I felt bad for Vanessa. All the girls jumped on her all season for being “fake” and “indecisive” and then Yoly goes on to completely screw over Mal and lie to her; and Mildred gets a domestic violence charge. I bet Vanessa feels so vindicated
Hope Xander moves on completely. And finds enough self love to feel complete on her on. Vanessa was hot and cold on the show. So unpredictable. She had alot on power on Xanders emotions. Thats not a good place to be for Xander. I hope she cuts Vanessa off until she feels complete.
It was really interesting to watch both the queer ultimatum show and the heterosexual one and see how different the dynamics are with female queer relationships compared to heterosexual relationships. The queer one was way more interesting and real. The biggest thing i noticed is how in hetero ones as a woman there's the making sure you're not being used for sex (because thats often the biggest thing on a man's mind), & also figuring out if he sees you as a human or just an object that he can possess. All that societal conditioning stuff. But with the queer women they dont have to worry about that. They're so emotional with each other and they definitely don't see each other as objects. And how they check in on each other's boundaries so much! Wow. I kinda wish I was a lesbian but unfortunately I'm a straight woman 🤣

I think the way vanessa behaved does not exactly underscore your point here. I know Rae said it was consensual but in the moment it did not seem as if Vanessa cared about any boundaries. As far as using, that’s a fallout in general of how society frames sex in the sexist way wherein the man TAKES and for the woman, sex is something that is done to her. Even when an (older)woman abuses a minor the media are shy about naming it as rape.

I’ve been waiting for this! I never watch these trashy reality dating shows, I just binge watch your channel, but being a queer woman this one just hooked me after your first video on it. I watched it and hoo boy.
Mildred is a real piece of work. She was shown through most of the show to be the “sensible one” because she generally wouldn’t raise her voice and had a patient tone most of the time, but her words were barbed and loaded with so much bullshit. Tiff seemed very genuine, like yeah the dog thing was a little too much, but at least she was being honest about it. I couldn’t stand Mildred by the end and 100% take Tiff’s side, even if she did say “gaslighting”.
At first I thought Yoly was good with Xander and wanted them to get together because Vanessa felt borderline emotionally abusive? At the very least manipulative of Xander, but once they switched back to their original partners I was just tearing my hair out with frustration at how she was stringing them both along and THEN CHOSE MAL AND PROCEEDED TO RUN BACK TO XANDER TWO TIMES. So glad Mal dumped her after approximately two weeks (but that was according to Yoly so who tf knows).
Aussie reminded me of my partner a little because she’s also extremely avoidant when it comes to conflict, but nowhere near the degree of Aussie. They were frustrating, jumping to conclusions about things, way too sensitive over the simplest things. Sam and Mildred definitely didn’t approach them in the right way though, if they’d shown more empathy and less frustration they might’ve been able to get through to them. Also the apparent trauma they’d experienced was serious stuff, I can’t imagine how scared and ashamed they must feel about their sexuality and gender identity, to be 42 and their parents having no idea. I really hope they can get some help.
Lexi and Rae drove me nuts, mostly Lexi, but their proposals to each other were so sweet and I was happy to still see them together at the reunion. Plus I feel like it’s rare to see a lesbian couple where both women are femme, it made their getting down on one knee so cute. 😭 But then that message popped up and I was honestly kinda crushed.
And Vanessa… well. I wasn’t sure how to take her sudden change of heart, like it was obvious her dad was right about wanting to marry Xander just to keep her and feed her own ego, but she cried so much it was clear she was genuinely hurting? Maybe not for the right reasons, but I felt sorry for her at the end, and it did seem like she’s doing serious self-reflection. She barely spoke at the reunion!

Ppl saying Mal was pulling a Assie/Vanessa by claiming to now be ready for marriage clearly didn't listen to Mal's reservations on marriage ep. 1😂😂. Idk how wanting more financial stability & your partner to not say the same lovey-dovey shit to you that you know for a fact they said to exs equal TRYING to live together for 5 years/overwhelming childhood trauma that prevents even the simplest of conversations/being against the idea of monogamy/constant gaslighting.

Vanessa’s a bigger person than me because I would have nailed her ass to the cross if she kept throwing attitude at me for feeling things about my relationship of 5 years. Yoly is the type of person that needs to be told about herself so her “I’m a bitch” mask slips and she has to be honest for once.

Vanessa wasn't the only villain, that changed and became very clear by the end. Multiple people said and did multiple things that were awful. But my problem with Vanessa is that I felt like I truly could not figure out if she was being genuine or not. I didn't really trust anything she said because it felt put on. I know you said she's very honest but it bugged me how even on the way to meet Xander, literally in the van on the way to the proposal decision, Vanessa was saying in her voiceover how once she saw Xander getting close to Yoly, a flip switched and she changed her mind and started feeling how she is now etc. because she wanted Xander all to herself??? Maybe that's just a way of saying that she realized how much she really did love Xander and want to be with her but it just felt like she was reiterating exactly what her dad said about how the only reason she is being how she is now is because she doesn't want to lose. It doesn't seem real or honest at all.

Realising you can lose someone, being with someone else and seeing you actually value your situation more than you realise etc.

But idk, I guess that statement was just off-putting to me, probably the way she worded it. She didn't say that she realized how much she loves and wants Xander but that she saw someone else wanting Xander and wanted to claim them all for herself. No one on this show was without flaws or operating on pure and entirely unselfish motives, but Vanessa actually explicitly saying that, in that way, while on her way to possibly get engaged was so wild to me. It felt both surprising and unsurprising at the same time but I couldn't believe that she framed her willingness to finally get married as her just wanting Xander all to herself bc someone else showed interest in them (or them in someone else). That's why I say I can't figure out if anything she says is genuine or not. It's like one of the post interviews done where Xander says that Vanessa's performance at the reunion seemed somewhat inauthentic bc she had already reached out to Xander two weeks before and has not spoken to Xander since, despite what all that she said and was apparently feeling.
@Amanda Lovatsis I understand that, I do. Like you said, everyone had their flaws, I wonder how much we hyperfocued on Vanessa's because of a few dumb comments. And also, the inauthentic reunion comment is from her ex so there may be some hurt and bias there.
The power of editing is crazy because we were conditioned to not like Vanessa. Look how the narrative about Mildred is downplayed, or Lexi being controlling, or Yoly and xander sleeping together and sneaking around is "so cute", but when Vanessa and Rae have fun it's disgusting and inauthentic. When Vanessa says it wasn't romantic it's "why are you here then!" But no one asked Rae that.
Vanessa behaved wildly, but I don't think it makes her disingenuous in my opinion. We believe her when she's inappropriate etc but not when she apologises, which she did multiple times as well.

Idk why but I feel that Vanessa has been wrongfully framed as the ultimate villain in the series, even in the reunion episode she was still very much in love w Xander.
In terms of betrayal, she is similar with Mal, since both people who claimed were in love with them, said "I love you" to someone else within 3 weeks, that is wild. Sure, Xander and Yoli's messiness are theirs but the fact that they had a back and forth with their respective partners, it's a bit harsh to say Vanessa is stirring the pot. If I found out my partner who was supposed to be loyal to me, was talking with borderline flirty messages with someone else and knew that the others person- in this case Mal's partner and Xander -was sending semi flirty messages to someone else, not only would I feel a kinship of betrayal, I would have thought they should know, it's not appropriate for a commited partner to do. I believe Vanessa could see where the behaviour of secretive DM's would lead and she wanted to warn Mal bc she understood how much Mal cared for Yoli. What Yoli and Xander were doing was betraying their respective partners.
i loved seeing yoly and xander together. but xander deserved so much better. yoly was stringing 2 people along while xander was all in with her. I hope Xander meets her wife soon, anyone would be so lucky to snatch her up

Xander didn’t do anything. It’s all Yoly. We can say what Yoly did WITH Xander, but i doubt Xander signed up with disrespecting Mal like that.

Funny thing about Aussie and her "rock" is whenever anyone asks me what my dream proposal would be that would be it. I work in wildlife conservation and education. One of the most romantic things in the natural world is penguins scouring beaches to find the most perfect pebble for their hopefully lifelong partner. (Yes, penguins can also "divorce). Point being, I actually find it way more romantic than a diamond that was mined by an enslaved child, but that's just me.
