It's crazy to think that iron Man used to be a character that barely anyone cared about. Now he's one of the biggest superheroes ever. It's kind of wild what a single good movie can do
Iron Man had video games before 2008, so it’s fair to say that he was cared about beforehand. Pretty big in comics before that time as well.
@@leocapn1069 Well yeah, in terms of the comics he was one of the most important characters being part of the illuminati. Though, in terms of popularity he was never as iconic as characters like hulk, wolverine, spiderman etc.

Not big but not small either. Iron Man was a mid-range seller, his comics in 70s-80s have average sales around 150k-200k copies per issue and he got his own animated show in the 90s. Tho the movie propelled his popularity comparable to Superman and Batman.

@@Facade953, you mean the people who designed the suit for the movies? Especially the visual artist Adi Granov, who created the high-tech, realistic IM look that the movies adopted.
Yeah. Like the inside-the-helmet view from the MCU. But the recent MCU IM designs (Infinity War, Endgame) are based on comics versions.

In terms of the suits, Iron Man in the new Spider-Man show looks nothing like any of his MCU suits

The Ironman suit in the Next Avengers animated movie looks better and more comic accurate then the MCU suits

Robert Hays' Iron Man had his "running out of power and getting his ass kicked" abilities.
The writers didn't know what to do with him when he would cameo in other shows so they'd just have him run out of power to take him off the board.
That is ridiculous.
Iron-Man: Armored Adventures is where Iron-Man cartoons peaked for me and nothing has come close to it ever since. I think the art style was perfect for a character like Iron-Man, the 2d animations that the other cartoons use just seem off.

No, he didn't. Or at least, not so much in the early comics. Essentially his heart piece was more like a vest, and required charging once and awhile. This created all sorts of tension, with Tony being trapped in the Iron Man armor for multiple issues at one point.

Robert Hays's Tony Stark from the 90s series was my first introduction to the character. Still love the show, even if its first season isn't really that great.
