In 1957 I saw the first DS, a Corgi DS19. It became my favorite car before I knew anything about its mechanicals. I saw the first SM, a real one, at a bank repo lot in the mid-70s. Since then I have had a 1971 DS21H Pallas, a 1970 ID21FH, a 1969 ID21F, a 1970 DSpécial 21 (original engine replaced with the engine from the '71 DS21H Pallas), and two 1972 SM 5 speeds. The years that I drove these cars were the only years I ever enjoyed driving. Oldsmobiles, Cadillacs, minivans, pickups, freight trucks, buses, all just chores. Nothing like a 1956-75 Citroën DS, SM!
Absolutely stunnin' car. Keep it that way. This voiture has so much innovations, we even use some of them today! Disc Brakes, adjustable suspension, various safety features. It's awesome.
@Tinfoilstar2 Hey, Citroen actually only returned to South Africa in 2001 with the Xantia for a short period, then the C- series started, first the horrible first C5's then the much better C4 C3 C2 then the C1. There is a big Citroen "family" here in South Africa!! We all love our old "real" citroens!! Cheers Corne Thank you for a great, video, your car really looks perfect!!
I'm in love with your car man!!! I'm from Catalonia and love classic Citroëns, when i was 18, i could only afford a '79 Dyane 6 to restore which i restored and now drive absolutly new (i'm 19 now), but all classic models of Citroën have something special, the technologycal advances they had at the time provide them the finest performance ever seen in classic cars... ONLY CITROËN!!! :D Congratulations for your more than wonderful car my friend!!!
fantastic... thanx for sharing. I was a little boy when I for the first time saw a DS... these rare and wonderful cars were not an every-day site in my part of the world... So, I promised myself that one day i too will have a Citroen. When the chance came I bought a GS Club and later a GS X2 when i was a student. By then Citroen left South Africa and became part of the PSA group. Citroen only returned to SA in the 1990s... and im NOT impressed with what they have become in the meantime...
I have to admit, as a boy I always thought the DS was the ugliest car in the world. It looked like it came from space or something, but it also looked like an old car... But over the years you learn to apperciate the DS. Now I think its a very interesting car, and the looks grow slowly to my heart. Now that I know what technology it has in it, and how innovatif that was at the time, I am really loving it!
a well-oiled machine. seems like you do a good job, greasing that monster. that car will last forever, man. and eventually, it will be put in the 'air & space museum', and people will fall to their knees, to worship it
Fabulous car modern cars look junk next to this elegant goddess thanks for posting all thats missing is la mare and a lovely girl in a polka dot dress vive la france from uk
Stunning car (wish my DS looked as good!) and beautiful countryside. You could almost say that the DS' suspension is wasted on your amazing smooth roads: much more useful in the UK!!
Thanks for sharing ! Great video ! ( I am french canadian and drive a german car "W123 Benz" and you are german and drive a french car ! Your car is very nice ; keep it in good shape ! :-)
Citroën a refusé...
@coquihalla1 By the way, A DS was much more simple than today's bagged cars to fix. A simple welded t-tube could be used as a hydraulics distributor. But there were two major issues about hydraulic pump and misadjusted spheres

30 years ahead of its time when came into production and still is amazing! :)

dear god, if you exist, please put citroens up there with you, so we will have fun driving them on the fluffy clouds
I saw the first one in the 50's. It was revolution!
i can hear the little bird singing for the happiness

my uncle said: ''i bet this guy is the mechanic's best customer, with those hydrolic suspensions''. but i don't believe him, this car is perfect, man
It gets better with age! So ahead of its time...Avant-garde!
My dream car, came close to buying a black DS23 Pallas but my wife sadly couldn’t stand it or understand.
Beautiful looking car! I've always liked the Citroen DS series of cars. Where is this video taken? Where are you driving?
Gorgeous,you're so lucky.
Superb!...
Ah! Ok. Nice! Unfortunately I don't know much in the way of German. Do you have any more videos regarding the DS Citroen?
oookkay, let's check out this beautiful video. every time is like the first time. man oh man, i'm tellin you

Is it still around? Is it still yours? A +12 years update video maybe? :)
this is pure rocket science, my friends
and on the 7th day, mister citroen chilled out
It's a DSM or Dspecial? I noticed it was a manual and not a citromatic. 1972? 73?
That’s one fine looking automobile
dear mister citroen, please make this car again. the world needs it, in order to live peacefully
@Tinfoilstar2 What do you mean? Have you seen the new Citroen cars?
a magic carpet of hydraulic principles
Just out of curiosity, what model year is this particular DS, and is it a DS 20, a DS 21 or a DS 23?
It’s a 1972 DS21.
@@TheTotti67 I see.
Is it the i.e. (injection electronique) model with the electronic fuel injection, or is it the carburettored model?
@@Swissair171 nope. It’s got a carburetor. I wanted the most simple version
@@TheTotti67 why is the engine running so poorly?
That's a lot of miles. Proper maintenence is key.

Going to look awesome to in 2081 🍀
Probably the best car in the world from that time :)
Almost the sound of silence !
''come with me, and you'll be... in a world of pure imagination''
When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Citroen comes to me
Nice car, my dad has the same one, same engine, but in a yellow color.
My dad has a Citroën garage.
this car should be studied in college, to try to understand the aerodynamics of the future
Carro maravilhoso!
holy smokes, what a car
