I've got Photoshop and Illustrator, so would be inclined to export from Illustrator as an SVG... can both programs handle those as well? I'm trying to decide whether to get a Cricut Maker 3 or a Silhouette Cameo 4. Leaning more towards Silhouette at the moment.
Hi there, yes that's actually what I do now as well, both of them handle SVGs really well. I would actually recommend waiting and getting a Cameo 5 if you're leaning Silhouette though, it just looks like it's going to be a lot more accurate than the Cameo 4.
@@VinylDecalSchool Thank you for your reply. I've bitten the bullet and decided to go with the Cameo 5. I can't wait for it to arrive, so I can have a play!
@@edwardholmes91 oh that's exciting! I hope you like it. Also, if you haven't already, you can download Silhouette Studio ahead of time to start to get familiar with it.
What if the file looks great, but when you place it in Cricut Design Space, it's got jagged edges? I'm creating something in Photoshop that simply won't open correctly as a cut file, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
What file type are you saving as? I’m not 100% but it might be that you need to make the design a lot bigger, or a higher dpi if it’s coming out with jagged edges.
Take a look at the full blog post here: www.vinyldecalschool.com/how-to-make-decals/quick-cricut-amp-silhouette-studio-designs-using-photoshop
I've make my PNG at 400 dpi in photoshop but when I take it to design space the quality drops and it prints fuzzy... what am I doing wrong?
So for cricut what format do you save it png as well ?
Yes, a png with no background

@@VinylDecalSchool I use Adobe Illustrator quite a bit, so I'm looking at getting the Silhouette Connect pluggin.
@@edwardholmes91 ahh even better! Would love to hear how you find that and the Cameo 5 once it arrives!
Thank you 🙏🏼 I really appreciate it
You’re welcome ☺️
