I like 1 and 2 as well for nostalgia reasons but there's no need to go back since 3 is superior in both visuals and gameplay. I haven't played Magical Drop F but i've heard it's also good. It's visually very different though and i don't like it's style, you might take a look and see if you like it. 5 is fine but it lacks many things other games had and it's kinda buggy. It also feels a little soulless tbh. It was made by a small team and they abandoned it fairly quickly. I'd say get a Neo Geo emulator and stick with 3, it's the ultimate Magical Drop experience. If you want an opponent to learn or practice i can give you my discord.

@@juliansoria7733 Much bigger roster, the lower res sprites look better, and due to more characters, the game has more music in it's soundtrack. Plus 3 didn't shoehorn other Data East characters in, and kept the roster to 23 tarot card characters. This game has a small pitiful roster.
Magic Drop V is made by a smaller indie company that got the rights to it. The game is quite buggy though, so if you want a good experience, stick with Megical Drop III on Neo Geo, or play Magical Drop F on PS1. :D
This is one of the most busted English translations I have ever seen on a video game! No wonder critics and people hated this game and preferred playing the third literation of the series! In fact, one of the loading screen texts even states that (My translations are so funny!) as well! On the plus side, it did recognized the cancelled Data East arcade title, Ghostlop, as well as resurrecting the original gameplay style, so props to the developers.

There's a lot of missing characters in the pc version. Later on the pc version got pretty much abandoned after promising they would fix the bugs A new version was released on ps4, called gold edition with all the other tarot characters. Why is Ghostlop there? They had the license and didn't know what to do with it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wow! I wasn't aware of this version of the game!! MD3 was one of my alltime favourite Neo Geo games!

They knew what they were doing when they designed World for this series. This is like how she is in the 3rd game plus a little more.
It's unfortunate that they parted with the original victory fanfare.
