You should try 6mm ARC. It's hard to find right now, very hard, but has similar ballistics to the. 243 and the 6mm Creedmoor. Yet is small enough to be fired from the AR15 platform.
Is there a PO Box to send stuff? If you can get ahold of a 6mm ARC, I know CMMG makes one, I'll see about sending some Hornady Black, or Match to use. I'm very curious to see what it would do to a watermelon at a hundred yards, or next time you get to Alabama Arsenal's range, give it a whirl at a thousand. I can send a box of my. 243 as well.
You need to let your son shoot it and make sure it is sighted in for him. I had my son shoot his salvage 3006 a good bit before the hunting season. I would take him and let him shoot a couple rounds every week until he could hit accurately up to 300 yards. Now my son is grown up and is a sniper in the United States marine corps

Best way to sight in. Hold on the target and move crosshair to the bullet hole. Everyone says that a 243 is a good kids or starter rifle for deer hunting. Then they go on to say that the kids are touching bullet holes at 100 yards. Then they say that every deer the kid pulled the trigger on never took another step. I just turned 50 and I guess I never grew up cause I still love the 243. Got my best trophy whitetail with it, he never took another step. You keep shooting and I'll keep watching. Always a good video.
Yes you are right , if you can put your rifle in a vice after boresighting fire one the move the reticle to the hole , one shot zero , ammo is too expensive here that box here is $90 !
My dadgum 243s are Howas with 22 in. Barrels and after two boxes of 100 gr.bullets, they will shoot one hole groups and it doesn't matter if it's Winchester or Remington! These rifles are the best guns I ever have had with factory loads.
When my son was 12 I found a 722 Remington rebarreled in a 243. He still carries it 25 years later when he wants a lighter weight rifle. He killed a pile of deer and cow elk with it.
This caught my eye because I was loading some .243 for a fall hunt this year. I'm using a 105gn bullet with 41gns Winchester StaBall 6.5 powder. Getting 2900fps and sub MOA groups. Let me know if you want a box for a video, or just some trigger time. Great video!
Thank you for this video. My 243 model seven, 18 inch barrel, didn't like anything but Norma. I had a horrible time keeping tight groups until I saw this video and tried them. 5 shots in a 1 inch group without letting it cool. Thank you
Before you blow up and get 1M+ subs just want to say I appreciate your content, they answer a ton of questions, I own a few of the same rifles as you do, but not many places to shoot and test different ammunition out around me. So once again I appreciate the content you're the man!
Very versatile round. Especially with a good bullet. Max point blank range is usually excellent with that setup. I used a Ruger .243 with 100gr ammo until I shot the barrel out. I honestly have taken so many deer and varmints with that set up with an old 4x12 Leupold, that I wouldn't make a guess as to the number. A couple my buddies have witnessed that little rifle pull off some great shots. WHO_TEE_WHO, I hope the boy's have more success with this setup!
The last deer I bagged was a large Axis doe. That 243 Howa with a 100 gr. Winchester soft point put her down in her tracks at 200 yds and never even twitched. Bullet went clean Tru that does chest as she was standing broadside.
Weatherby. Great set up. Decent ammo. Once in a while do a few groups out to say 300 ,350 yards on a target in the shape of vital kill zone of average white tail. Say lung shoulder area.. That was a good example of consistent accuracy. Very practical Thanks .. 6.15.2021
I've had very good luck with our .243 Remington rifle which is always my first choice for long distance shooting. Many pronghorn antelopes toppled well beyond 250 yards. Norma ammo appears to be ideal for shooting deer sized game. Your Weatherby is a keeper! Thanks for the review!
Another great video. I believe the reason they claim you need to shoot from a cold barrel is you do not warm your barrel up when you’re hunting deer so cold shot is important
I have been a .243 user since the 70"s, now 74 years old. Still shooting a .243 and loading my own ammunition for over 40 years. I've been using a Nozzler 95 gr. Partition bullet since the 70's with much success. I've killed a lot on nice deer over the years, and never had to track one down. I helped a young man track a nice 7 point this past weekend who was using this identical ammo. This was his first deer, shot was taken at 35 yds. and after 60 yds. we lost the blood trail. Found the buck 2 days later approximately 200+ yds. away. His shot was about 4 -5 inches behind the shoulder, slightly low but not too low for a kill. This ammo did not break ribs, or create an exit hole. Would recommend that you look at the type bullet and velocities closely before giving this to your son, who may miss that once in a life time shot. I was not impressed with the knock down capability or damage done by this ammo. Accuracy is important, and can be obtained by lowering the velocity, but bullet performance is essential to killing a trophy buck.
Fred, i agree with what you said. I lost a deer this year with a solid pass thru on a 40 yard shot. I hit it solid behind the shoulder. I had blood at the initial sight and ended a few yards later. I ended up bringing my dog in to track it. My bird dog ended up following the other deer and i lost it. A few weeks ago, i bumped into a hunter looking for sheds. He ended up finding it and said it's sad that people don't follow up their shots. I explained to him what happened and he was shocked. Perfect pass thru but the bullet never did anything but blow thru like a field point arrow. The other hunter said that the shot should've dropped it with in 50 yards on that shot. The previous year, i was hunting deer in North Carolina and shot a small buck. I found lung tissue on the ground and a tiny blood trail about 20 yards. I found the deer in the thicket about 70 yards away w/ no blood. Same thing, pencil hole for an exit. The following day, i shot a really nice 6 and decided a neck shot towards the shoulder was going to be the shot. Deer didn't take a step. the damage was unreal when we skinned it. The owner said i told you the 7mm was the way to go and i told him i used the .243 and he was shocked. I shot several deer with other brands of factory
It's you, the Indian making these shots. Well done. I reload my own ammo but I may buy some Norma ammo for the range and get some reloadable brass at the same time. Blessings.
Absolutely beautiful rifle buddy. Just ordered some of that Norma ammo myself. Would love to see some kind of a bullet test with it. Especially in 243 .
An easy way to remember the way to screw the adjustment turrets is this, D.L.C., which means down, left, CLOCKWISE. All scopes are universal in this regard.

Yep, that's right, only difference is the stocks and the markings on the barrel and the Vangaurds have the cap on the back of the bolt to save you if the primer blows.😗
I grew up Deer Hunting with a .243 back in the 80's , had a close family friend who opened up a Gun store , and he turned our whole family onto Norma before anyone around here had ever heard of it . Killed quite a few Bucks with it . I've still got a few old boxes of the original .

That would be awesome. I hunted public here in TN last year 15 times and didn't see a single deer. A buddy of mine let me take a doe off his property last week of season
Yep, that's right, only difference is the stocks and the markings on the barrel and the Vangaurds have the cap on the back of the bolt to save you if the primer blows.😗
Gees, WTW, how many of those Vanguard's with a wood stock to you have? By the Way. That's good shootin..
Not enough
@@WHOTEEWHO Never enough. Wood over plastic any day, for me...
I just found some of this locally. Haven't tried it out yet. Good looking ammo.
Great setup, just bought a box for my daughter's Remington 700 243, hope we have good luck with the Norma's. Thank you for sharing.
Good stuff
Made by Howa. Great gun
It looks like a keeper to me
I love it
I grew up Deer Hunting with a .243 back in the 80's , had a close family friend who opened up a Gun store , and he turned our whole family onto Norma before anyone around here had ever heard of it . Killed quite a few Bucks with it . I've still got a few old boxes of the original .
🦌🦌🦌
Who tee who....the deer sniper.
🦌🦌🦌
Just show more reasons to go Pronghorn Antelope hunting get you a 600 yards shot at one. Who tee who approved that's a good one need that on a shirt 👕
👍👍😝
Vanguards are a ridiculous bargain for the $! Pay the extra $ stay away from the cheap rugers, savages, etc for a few hundred more you have an heirloom rifle that are fantastic! Yes I’m aware it’s a howa 1500.
Weatherby craftsmanship. It is a quality rifle. I have a really nice sako a2 243. Needs a new scope ! But another w b y is nice too 😂
I need to try a sako
@@WHOTEEWHO it has a smooth action super nice stock like your wby. Over all very well made. ✌️
Beautiful rifle Adam. Great shooting as well. I'll have to get me a box that Norma Whitetail for my 30-06.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks for watching Jeffrey
❤️man she's sweet, always wanted a 243, , I'd say make plenty o room in the freezer,,,,, & get you "butchering tools" rite ❤️🤣, great video THANKS ✌️. N.C.
I bought a box of this in 243 last week. Haven't shot it yet.
Been good stuff to me
My daughter wants a rifle. I think this low recoil 243 might be ideal. Especially as a relative is a 243 fan with much gear and experience.
Excellent shooting and very nice Weatherby rifle👌
God bless you!
Thanks Garrett 🙏
That’s a real beauty for sure and a good load!
Thanks for the chat!🇨🇦🤠
Thanks for watching Randy
Great shooting! Looks like a winner.
I am a fan of it. Now we gotta find some deer
Met Mormas rep in Wyoming....... he sure was full of his self ....
Yes that's a winning combination I would definitely use it for coyotes in Whitetail Blacktail just about any kind of tail. Hahaha LOL
Thanks for watching Ricky
