I’m a freshman taking AP human for the first time. My teacher, while having an excellent sense of humor, fails in the actual organization of material area of teaching. She just gives us packets to fill out with a power point- which, as you may be able to imagine, does little to nothing to help you learn and remember things. I have my first unit exam tomorrow, and I have retained more information in 2 hours of watching your videos than I have in 4 weeks of sitting in class. That’s weird... The only map projections I learned in school from this video were the Mercator and Robinson ones. We also learned the Peters and Conic projection

Actually there are dosens of projections and many look similar. And sometimes projection isn't specified in the legend, hence the question: are there any tools or ways to deduce for sure what kind of projection have been used? I've tried by visual comparison with wiki articles, but again some kinds look similar so it's hard to be 100% sure.
Why do people pull out the baseless Mercator muck racking claims about bias? No one thinks Greenland is overly important even if it is displayed as being larger, which basically kills the premise of the smear. Mercator is the best map for navigation, it is the most useful map, is the most accurate shape direction and size wise for Africa, it is the best map for Zooming in which is why it is used for web maps and is the most widely used projection. Mercator has made the modern world and continues to provide even in the digital age. I dare anyone find a more useful and important map projection.
