The success of Hermès today originated in 1837 when Thierry Hermès, the founder, established a shop for equestrian saddles and harnesses in Paris. Through the generations Hermès has grown to become a leading luxury brand with expertise in fine leather and many other products-including watches. In 1912, Émile Hermès, son of Thierry, designed the first-ever Hermés wristwatch for his daughter Jacqueline. He created the "porte-oignon" system to hold a pocket watch securely within a leather strap, and the Hermès watch was born.

Forgot why I started loving Hermes in the first place. Craftsmanship, copy rights, and beautiful products made by beautiful people who work in a beautiful place. This is what I want to see in my own company. Do to others as you would like done onto yourself.
Sometimes we pay 100billion USD not for a bag but the efforts a craftsman pay to create the beauty of a leather handbag.

Exactly, and some of use have to hand cut and had prick the leather. They have it easy.

Well do you see a sewing machine in this video? They took the time to hammer the visible leather and the lining together and then poke holes through it and put thread in between. To me that's hand made, I don't care if it's not cut out with a scalpel.

If that blue piece he threw on the table in the beginning was leather, that is so thin and so not worth the ridiculous price they charge for these bags.
that's ostrich leather, it goes for a higher price than the other leathers bc it's produced in way smaller amounts and rare colorways

They aren't worth more than $500. I can buy a handmade leather bag on Etsy for cheaper than that!
