I am watching this VOD and I have so many thoughts lol. it’s killing me that I can’t critique in real time.
Ben has a lot of options with his body type and it’s fun to dress people so they can look their best.
I was surprisingly invested in this.
The green shorts with the navy minnmax tee was the best outfit imo. Pleasing color combo and a good fit.
I will vote for this every week, Sarah goes through every member of MinnMax and beautifies the crew

the irony is that Ben's normal, everyday attire looks nicer than what he thinks is a "cool" outfit for an event. i mean this with all love ❤
Some recommendations beyond what Sarah already said: 1) For the shirt, skip the undershirt if you’re wearing a button down. Two buttons undone at the top, or sometimes just one depending on the shirt. It will look better 100% of the time. Also the length of the shirts you have are already fine. People don’t raise their arms that high in normal interaction so it’s just not a problem. 2) make sure the new pair of pants are hemmed short enough that they stop right at or above the shoe. You don’t want them to break (meaning touch and fold) at the shoe. That’s what makes a pair of straight leg pants look attractive rather than baggy. I second Sarah’s recommendation for Everlane stuff; it’s a good starting point.
Idk the undershirt is a must imo for a button up.

@@Magic7ball I go with the undershirt because I wouldn't want the sweat to hit my nice button up shirt as much as.
@@paulsanchez001 To each their own for sure, but IMO the undershirt is just another layer that makes you sweatier. If you wear a lightweight short sleeve button down, I’ve never had a problem with sweat without the undershirt. That said I think an undershirt is fine under a long sleeve button down (if it’s not visible) in cooler months.
@@smellywaffels1967 At the very least, the undershirt color shouldn't clash so much with the button down. A white shirt with a dark button down doesn't look good.

Regarding basics for T-shirts I’ve been a big fan of Uniqlo. They offer very lightweight shirts as well as heavier options. For “Not-an-undershirt” I’d recommend their Supima line of shirts. Feel great, fit great, and the neck keeps its shape

I never related to someone about clothes as much as Ben 😂
I know this was personally difficult for Ben and I really respected the fact that he tried. But I'm glad that he had this experience because often clothing can be extremely socially and politically powerful. The aversion to "fashion" that people such as Ben have is enabled by the fact that they don't have to think about what to wear most of the times! Their body, skin color, and ableness fit into the most common way to express themselves and thus they don't have to worry about finding the right clothes or making a statement with their clothing.
But to question that comfort zone is to grow. The goal doesn't have to be: now I'm the most well-dressed person in the room. The goal can be: why do other people think about clothes and what does it say about me and my relationship with my environment. For game designers, this is extremely important to. Fashion in game mostly sucks and is rather shallow, which is a tell on the people who get to design those games.
So I do hope everyone walking away from this with a more holistic appreciation for clothing, even in the smallest way.

Seems like these two need to go shopping together to refresh Ben's wardrobe. But to be fair I'm him, most of my clothes were 5+ years old... up until I did what I suggested and went shopping with a friend that I trusted and I got a few outfits. Need to get some more stuff and to unload some older stuff. It's a process!
Ben not buying a lot of clothing is a good thing imo and shouldn't be something to be made fun of. If everyone did this we would have SO much less waste, fast fashion is destroying more than you know. Have fun at SGF!

I don’t think it’s about buying a lot of clothes; just buying a few high quality, well-fitting items that will last a long time and distress well. Agreed that he shouldn’t be made fun of for clothes not being his priority though as there’s way more important things in life.

If Ben wanted to he could wear shorts his entire time at SGF. The weather is gonna be warm enough that it won't even be a worry. If anything wear a light sweater at night with shorts. I was the coast about 2 weeks ago and only needed shorts and a sweat shirt.
