RCT: *starts raining*
Guests: Death is a preferable alternative
Make the most extreme ride you can, and then wait for it to rain. Actually, what is the highest excitement rating you can get?
Rather death than wet !
Guests: *Explode*
the guests going in an desert exodus after riding one shitty coaster was the highlight of this video
Marceles parting the Burger Sea to save the Guestites from the Coasyptians.
Wandering the desert for their sin of questioning God and his prophet Merceles 😂
wait until a large burger starts burning and marcel's voice in this video is heard through it
On paper, I know it's just a clever balancing mechanic to ensure that the player tests all of their rides and manages their stats accordingly, but I like the idea that high-excitement-seeking guests will _only_ ride a merry-go-round if it's untested because they think the potential safety hazard makes it the most extreme merry-go-round on the planet
When the promising appeal of Extreme heights coming under new management results in just a single merry-go-round and folks somehow enjoy it no problem, no questions asked for half a millenium.
Because even though they're trapped forever, they have free burgers and a furry, so they're fine
@@mambodog5322Sounds like heaven, honestly
As an American, I can confirm that we can survive indefinitely and be perfectly happy with no available amenities other than hamberder
Seconded...God bless the hamboigah.
me when im mfw habugrerd
Me when I humbefer
It is still ludicrous. One and a half burgers per person per year? This stall puts McDonald's Super Size to shame
🇺🇲🇺🇲BURG🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🏈🇺🇲
Referring to a Merry-go-round as a horse tornado is genius, and is what I will be naming them in my parks from this day forward.
I guess there are other park tycoon games which have spin speed option on their merry go round, which could make it an extreme ride if you spin it fast enough
I'm pretty sure he got it from Matt Gray, who called it that on an episode of Citation Needed - All episodes are on RUclips, I believe on Tom Scott's channel.
Using a brown path was a smart move, all things considered.
Ambiguous Amphibian made a video on RCT mentioning Marcel; now Marcel has him as a guest in his demented theme park. It's all coming together.
Marcel, we absolutely need a crossover video with both of you attempting some asinine challenge. Then, unlike your guests, I can die happy.
You are right, his guests can't die. But they WILL be happy, the entertainers will see to that.
Rollercoaster tycoon Co-op mode?
Some times I wonder if Marcel would make an excellent hell manager. This must be the ultimate hellscape in RCT:
- Forces people to stay for 100 years
- Every person in the park is in the same tile
- Can only eat burgers, no toilets
- The only ride is one which nobody wants to ride
- The only alternative leaves them stranded in the desert for hundreds more years
- Even when they are allowed to leave, they can't
- Even the park manager has to spend eternity manually rebuilding the singular ride due to constant breakdowns
Think it's worse than sitting on a Wild Mouse until the stars go out?
He's got competition from Josh from Let's Game It Out though.
What if he's not the manager of Hell, but its only occupant, and playing RCT in such a perverse way is his punishment?
" Even the park manager has to spend eternity manually rebuilding the singular ride due to constant breakdowns" - That got me laughing hard, oh man, truly a hellscape. :D
2:25 Ambiguous Amphibian shout out. He also gave you a shout out in his video. good to see this kind of sense of community in the YT community.
In a way, it's still perfectly fitting to beat "Extreme" Heights with a single horse tornado running over centuries. That's pretty extreme.
Also weirdly cool, in an urban legend local myth sort of way. Out there in the desert there's a weird would-be amusement park with just one carousel/a tiny bumping coaster, and people who dare to get on it never leave the park and just wander the desert next to it forever, seemingly free of mortal needs or ability to leave.
When you mentioned that after 500 years it rained one final time, it made me think you should start a horror fiction channel derived from all your tycoon-gaming exploits.
Did he build a park in the Atacama desert or something?
He mentions it rains about once a year, which is about right for the driest deserts in the world.
Marcel
You could lower the tile of the exit enough so that you can build a path and below the entry path a burger so you would not have the problem with mixups
That's another great solution! This means that in OpenRCT2 you can do it with just 6 tiles, as for the compact inverted coaster you only need a single station tile for the ride to work. I didn't touch on that in this video as in vanilla the compact inverted coaster doesn't get the reverse incline mode, so it won't work there.
I love the AmbiguousAmphibian guest name cameo. Always awesome to see two of my favorite RUclipsrs showing each other appreciation.
Honestly; “People Pulverizer 9000” is a pretty great name for a roller coaster
Now I'm left wondering why there isn't a IRL flat ride called a "Horse Tornado"
Or Horse Plinko.
From this day forward, I will call all Carousels the Horse Tornado.
What, no alliteration?
"Horse Hurricane"
Since a hamburger stall is apparently a ride, could it be the favorite ride of the remaining guests?
I was thinking maybe there were still some guests leftover from when Flaming Fury was still around.
2:19 Please everyone pay your respects with a minute-long silence for crashed ride in the corner of this path and whichever guests were onboard it.
Wow, I didn't expect anyone to notice that. I didn't do that specifically for the video, but I did notice that a ride had crashed there when I recorded that scene. I just checked and it's from a ride named "Die-inator".
As someone with sensory issues related to wetness, i can relate to the guests that would go on a 60 lateral G hell coaster so long as it meant not being in the rain.
Are you autistic?
Why do you think there are so many autistic people who are trans now? It seems pretty obvious that many many of these modern trans people are also autistic. Why do you think this is?
Love the fact you named a guest 'Ambiguous Amphibian'
I like the subtle shoutout to Ambiguous Amphibian at 2:19
i'm glad the population of the rollercoaster tycoon universe follows the same behavioral patterns around rain that dwarves in dwarf fortress do
*instantly renames all the merry go rounds i ever built into "damned horse tornado"
I don't know how feasible it is to figure this out, but I had an idea for one of these experiments; what's the highest excitement you can possibly get on a rollercoaster, while keeping the intensity under 10? Also cool video as always! Whoever's running that Burger Bar must be very busy.
He did this a while ago and it's actually somewhat trivial? (okay not that trivial, but once you know "the trick" it's pretty easy to implement) There's ways to boost the excitement without boosting intensity, giving a coaster with 327.67 excitement and 8.31 intensity. ruclips.net/video/oVKAD0jCR-M/видео.html
He made a video like 5 years ago see if you can find it
@@tkbreen1381 Found it! The highest possible excitement rating was 327.67 and remarkably the intensity rating was only 8.31.
2:21 Heyyy it's Ambiguous Amphibian! I love that guy!
Current minimum tiles to beat each scenario (from vids I've watched from you):
Forest Frontiers - 1
Bumbly Bazaar - 2
Extreme Heights - 7
Amity Airfield - 16 (I think)
Ghost Town - 60
The maze trap you showed off in part 2 and 3 of trying to get maximum throughput can probably beat quite a few more scenarios with optimal space.
11:02 Thumbs up for the Redcat reference! These games defined my childhood
Edit: now I have the theme song stuck in my head
Imagine spending 500 years at some park in the desert. All there is are a merry-go-round (Horse Tornado) and a hamburger stall. Never need to use bathroom. Dancing animals to keep you happy. You live forever and will not want to leave. Seems like paradise to me.
A Horse Tornado? A Horsenado?
Horsenado T-shirts coming soon?
Oh wait that's RCE...
The real reason guests showed up in this park was to achieve eternal life
There's a Webtoon kinda like that. Live forever, work in a circus.
A very interesting outcome, you keep surprising us with these marcel and we salute you for it, cant wait for the next one.
So, you said "we can do 'better'!" after the merry-go-round. And from a tile usage perspective you were correct, but I'm not sure space efficiency beats time efficiency here hahaha. Great video as always Marcel!!!
In the year one hundred and nine,
if guest are still alive,
they found a merry-go-round
with only burgers to survive...
The merry-go-round is my favorite ride in RCT 1 and 2, thank you Marcel. "Crappy round spiny thing" is the perfect way to describe it, everything about this ride is silly.
Honestly, a Merry-Go-Round is a gentle ride. In Extreme Heights the visitors only would be like: no thank you, it's too gentle for me.
I just found a way to theoretically do this challenge with just 6 tiles. If you use the compact inverted coaster instead of the looping coaster, you can make a functional ride using just 1 tile for the station instead of 2 tiles. This lets you make a ride that uses only 4 tiles total instead of 5. After that, you still need the path in front of the park entrance, so that's tile 5. Now, you might think you still need a tile for the path from the exit as well as a tile for the burger bar which adds up to 7, but we can also save a tile here. Simply build the burger bar below the exit in order to re-use the same tile. This way, you only need 1 more tile for the guests to drop down from the exit onto a path in front of the burger bar.
That only works in OpenRCT2 as in vanilla the compact invert doesn't get reverse incline mode, so I left it out.
"they don't care about dying because anything is better than being out in the rain" that's a mood right there
I bingewatched like several hours of your videos, and with your help and guidance I was able to make a giga-coaster in RCT3 with a Excitement of 6.9, and a Nausea rating of under 1.5. Intensity was a medium, at around 4-5.
You sir are the most dedicated player of this game. I been watching a video here and there for years, and you still find new exploits and stuff. 9 year old me would have loved to know all this lol. Keep it up, I may revisit this game soon.
"Horse tornado" Now that makes a merry-go-round sound intense.
this info about extreme intensity underground rides opens up so much
I think you’re overlooking the possibility that the guests squat over the sand and then bury their waste like cats, which is how their pants haven’t exploded.
"If you provide them easy access to food, they will never want to leave at all"
... how relatable
It's always nice to see you try and beat a scenario by doing something absolutely insane.
Just wait a few days for something truly insane in Extreme Heights.
Marcel always coming in clutch to entertain my lunch, what a benevolent God.
"People Pulverizer 9000 looks too intense for me, but there's nothing else to do in this rain so why not?"
The fact that nobody has ever tried to market a "Merry-go-round" as a "Horse Tornado" is a tragedy.
"Honey, it's raining. Do you want to go home?" "**NO.**"
"Horse tornado" was possibly the greatest line in video game history
We've reached truly nonsensical levels of minimalism and optimization at this point. It reminds me of slot machines in a way, breaking down human psychology to be as 'engaging' as possible and leave you stuck to your seat and draining your savings. However, since peeps are so much simpler than humans, you can build a much more simple and elegant lotus-eater machine that fulfills their desires just enough so they never leave. We've broken down the programming of these little digital humans to most optimally strip them of agency. It's beautiful, in an existentially dreadful way.
In other words this is the best psychological horror channel on RUclips.
The Merry-Go-Round isn't their favorite ride because the Burger Stall is their favorite ride.
2:17 A big fan of Marcel there 👋
Burger stall in the middle of the desert.
Employs 50 people.
None of them make burgers, they all just dance around in fursuits outdoors in the desert heat.
AmbiguousAmphibian reference, I see you Marcel! 2:20
I'm just imagining an extreme merry go round that goes at neck break speeds, hardcore looking warhorses, and blaring metal music.
11:20 he really named the Burger Store : Krusty Crab 2 😂😂😂
The burger stall stats make me think back when McDonalds used to post how many burgers sold for that location on the sign.
I can’t get enough of these videos!! Thank you
Now I really wanna ride the People Pulverizer 9000 🤔
Merry-Go-Rounds/Carousels are my favorite theme park ride 🙂 Gentle motions, pretty to look at, and they're an absolute classic 😊🎠 No theme park is complete without a classic carousel 🥰
Nice shoutout with the guest to ambiguousamphibian lol
2:30 I see how you named that guest over here, respect :)😊
Ok the people pulverizer 9000 was a good laugh that i havnt had in a while.
I’ve also made guests want to ride a roller coaster with deadly g-force, by deliberately failing one of the stat requirements to half the perceived intensity.
Hearing you refer to a merry-go-round as a "damn horse tornado" literally made me laugh out loud. I mean, youre not wrong...?
Lovely to see you are a Queen fan. Keep up the epic videos!
The Queen reference at 0:39 was a nice touch
Love the AmbiguousAmphibian shoutout 2:18
Level takes 597 years to beat.
Marcel: This is optimised 😂
(I get that it is in a specific way but still :D)
Now that's some mechanism that I never know existed/noticed (the any ride, sheltered I know but *any* is new to me) after playing for 18 years
As you can see, the furries are keeping your guest happy
Another video that answers a question I don't want an answer to really but it is just always so nice to watch these
9:20 had me cackling!
Daddy, why do we call them Horse Tornados? Well son, that wasn't always the case, until one day...
Idea: Try beat it with just maze. L- shape maze where entrance points to path and exit is against park fence so that guests get locked on tile that is outside of park. For a show you could even use sandbox mode to to lower that tile outside of park by 1 unit and then fill it with water because if I remember correctly guests outside of park fence have god mode.
I love all these RCT experiments.
Horse tornado... You've watched the Technical Difficulties! 😎
If I was told I was going to the roller coaster capital of the world and it turned out to be just a bunch of furries riding a merry-go-round in a rainy desert, I'd still be excited.
Cant imagine going to the park and ending up living there for 109 years.
Hello Marcel! I wanted to say briefly that I love your videos. They have a subtle but also very hilarious sense of humor to them that I really enjoy! Would you ever consider making more Zoo Tycoon content? I think there's a ton of potential to them!
The guests only rides merry-go-round when it rains and drink rainwater
"this damn horse tornado" had me laughing.
You will ride the Merry go round, you will eat the burger and you will be happy.
It's a nice, even dispersal of guests roaming the desert you got there. Brownian Motion in action.
Today's episode of "It's a Good Thing This is a Video Game, or Else it Would've Been a Human Rights Violation with Marcel Vos"
It probably would not help in this case. But maybe letting your guests enter at the front instead of the back removes some time from the boarding of the guests (as there is a small space between the back of the track and the start of the coaster. It probably won't change much... but people tend to forget the placement of the entrance. Always place the entrance in the middle of the first train. This is encourages loading time. If you have 1 unhappy guest that wants to sit in the back of the train and your station is at the first car.... you are losing time because you could have dispatched the train already (providing you could dispatch). For the exit this does not matter as guest will stand up and walk to the exit, letting the other guests board freely.
Love the AA reference after he shouted marcel out in his last video.
3:54 "very sturdy pants" Bruh KEKW
Maybe those 40 guests liked the Hamburgers more than the marry go round?
Sometimes food is more important
If you are only counting tiles and underground is okay, I think you made a mistake. Even if that wasn't the case, you may make this setup faster if re-riding the ride is a problem, but also cutting down the number of guests that can get on per run so maybe the math doesn't work there.
Build only 1 station and have have the exit drop guests on top of a burger bar that is lower into the ground and have the tile the exit is on lowered as well. Guests fall into the burger bar, only option to is to move back onto the tile where the exit is but under the exit. You don't have the guests re-riding at all, one less tile. If you can lower the burger bar tile and that counts, this should count too and you get one less tile.
The People Pulvarizer 9000 got me laughing too hard
They just go to the bathroom over the side.
Merry-Go-Round 1 looks too intense for me!
It's possible that the 40 people who didn't have the merry-go-round as their favorite ride were part of the original set of people the park started with, so they had some other ride as their favorite, assuming that deleting the ride doesn't let them choose a new favorite
Merry-go-Round Tycoon is such a good game
"Horse tornado", Am I detecting Citation Needed vibes here?
Technically it was one of their "kitchen experiments", but yes I got this from the bounciest man on the internet.
7:05 had me rowling on the floor
I'm pretty sure the area around the trapped guests isn't sand anymore after eating all those burgers...
I am playing through extreme highs currently, and have a huge park already with only about 3,000 guests. this video came at the perfect time, while i’m struggling to beat the park normally you beat it with burgers and a merry go round 😭
Marcel uploads a video on my birthday! Hell yeah!
