    In my opinion, only 5 minutes out of 25 minutes were used to cover the clever parts of the Hydraulic unit while the high-pressure cylinder was not taken off/dismantled to show the final ball valve in it. In fact, none of the ball valves were shown. most of the time the video showed the use of a wire brush removing the paint and a few coats of undercoat and topcoat were shown including the assembly which is not really very difficult..
    The last one I overhauled had four-ball valves used as follows.
    a. One ball bearing valve for the return release path.
    b. Two ball-bearing working in unison to produce the pump9ing action.'
    c. One ball bearing with spring loading to act as a high-pressure relief valve.
    This hydraulic jack is interesting and careful tightening is required as when one tightens the top nut to push down the reservoir outer cylinder, the central high-pressure cylinder is lifted up, and if it is not tightened extremely tight it could lift a little and leak at the lower copper seal which also holds in place the final ballbearing high-pressure valve.

      My intention was to fix this jack and make it look better. I didn't want to disassemble all the valves because there were no problems with them. If I had disassembled all the parts, the video would have been more interesting, but making such a detailed video takes a long time and I tried to make it as short as possible. Thanks for the comment. I will take into account your opinion for the next videos.

    Great job. It looks like the same jack I bought about 35 years ago and was working until recently. It probably needs new fluid. My concern is the o rings you use. I think the material is buna which I believe is not compatible with hydraulic fluid. Doing some research your should use viton o rings which is long lasting exposed to hydraulic fluid. Do not know how long your replacement seals will last.

      This jack had oil leaks. There were some leftovers from a broken gasket. To remove the cylinder you have to disassemble the side parts. Analyze carefully and see what the problem might be. In this video I did not show how I cleaned the blocked channels.

      Ok sure, that should'nt make much difference.
      Every other trolley jack I've seen (including your's - before you pulled it apart) has the plug mostly upwards, so it can be filled to the correct level in it's operating position??.. and i guess it would save the oil plug getting knocked out while rolling on some uneven surface etc...nice oil leak everywhere....lol

    • @DorelBorlea
      @DorelBorlea  4 года назад

      At this jack, to feed oil through the top you have to disassemble the upper arm.
      If you think there is a risk that the oil plug will pop out accidentally then you mount it on top.

    I have an old jack, same model as yours. It works, however when I want to release the pressure and lower whatever I'm working on (usually my boat on a trailer) - it always comes down with a boom. What can I do so pressure is released little by little and the boat is lowered smoothly? I try to turn the screw/handle as slowly as possible of course, but it doesn't help.

    • @DorelBorlea

      I think the trailer and the boat are too heavy for this jack and because of this the jack goes down very fast.

      @notajp 3 года назад

      Check to see if a second ball might have fallen out too. Usually you will have a small ball bearing on the bottom with a larger ball on top. There may be a spring too. On my jack like this, there is a small ball at the bottom, a larger one above it, and a tapered spring on top under the plug. Narrow end of the spring down on the large ball. Not all jacks are the same tho. Those balls are check valves for the pump. One for in, one for out.
