    They are common through Scotland too,in particular the Western isles tobar mhoire comes to mind tobermory comes to mind.common its seems through out the Gaelic world,

      I totally agree with you. It is not surprising, since water is so fundamental and in the past a good clean source of water was so basic. There is an intersting Instagra account. Holy wells of Cork and Kerry
