- 💜 BTS have had their fair share of haters from day one and at first glance, "MIC Drop" appears to be nothing more than two fingers up at them. But did you know that this song was inspired by Obama’s speech at the 2016 White House Correspondent’s Dinner? At the end of his speech, Obama dropped the mic and said, “Obama out” before making an epic exit. The action of dropping a mic after a speech or a statement soon became a symbol of one’s confidence and “swag”. Rap Monster expressed that their song “Mic Drop” aims to do exactly that and the song really expresses BTS's swag, hopes, and confidence. The song is full of their very own mic drop moments, not least RM’s sneered “good luck”.

It drives me absolutely bonkers how much of the choreo is lost to all these camera shots rapidly changing directions, angles, distances... there are so many exquisite 'cause and effect' moments in this choreo that just don't make it to the screen in this performance... I was a dancer, and oftentimes singers that sing live and dance would train by singing while running on a treadmill. BTS does what should be physically impossible, especially considering they are underweight for their height. So much respect for them. Soooo much respect. 💜💜💜💜💜

Thanks for posting these televised performances - I think when people think they only had to hustle on American TV to get where they are, they forget how many different shows they've been on and how many different ways they've had to repeat these performances, and yet it never seems like a burden to BTS.
