Hey guys, in this video, I have a conversation with Luke from Luke's Points and Miles, a fellow credit card/personal finance RUclipsr. Not only do we talk about the perks and benefits of luxury travel credit cards and the experiences you can have with them, but we also discuss the importance of enjoying the journey, travel vs. cashback credit cards, and much more!
This is the second episode in my Creator Conversations series where I talk with some of the most influential creators in the credit card/personal finance niche so we can all get to know them better outside of our regular topics of discussion. We all have many different passions that we don't get to talk about on our channels much, so I wanted to give everyone a place to talk about those things through this series. I hope you enjoy it!

Responding to Luke's "why", I want to put my girlfriend on a first class plane ride to Hawaii and stay at a fancy resort near the beach. She's always talking about going but can never afford a trip like that so that's my Why. If I'm lucky, I'll get to go with her too

gearing up to take a last minute solo trip to korea to see one of my favorite k-pop groups… the bit about the importance of solo travel really moved the needle for me and i think i am a bout ready to make that flight redemption to korea!

I got into the credit card game last year as I was planning our trip to Europe... all it took to get her into it was our experience at the Capital One Lounge at DFW,l and lounge access at all our stops in Europel....We are going back to Europe in Oct... this time we have business class flights, Park Hyatt stays and still lounge access on our intra-European flights!

@8:03 one hack is to use your credit card and then reimburse yourself through direct doposit from hsa.
There are lots of other hacks with the HSA such as saving expenses in a spreadsheet and letting the HSA grow to retirement, too much for a comment but there's some content out there describing the triple tax advantage of HSAs
Thanks for dropping some knowledge here! HSAs are super powerful tools to be leveraged if you're able to for sure.

Prague is a fantastic city and I’ve visited twice. I think it needs to be very high on people’s travel lists. It also pairs well with Vienna, another outstanding city.

My question is to all the cc RUclips guys is how the hell do you guys get so many points? You guys should do a video on daily spend and do a breakdown on how you make your points. Because that’s a lot of points you guys accumulate really fast. Great video keep it coming

Sign up bonuses are a big part of it. Plus having a good amount of spend.
Must have missed him saying that. And yes for someone like me with a lower amount of spend, a majority of points come from SUBs and referrals. For those with higher spend, that just increases the base points you earn on top of allowing you to apply for more cards with high SUBs which helps a ton.
I know - I enjoy watching credit card videos and dreaming about the fancy cards, but a big part of their value is in the sign up bonuses, and realistically, I’m never going to spend enough in 3 months to get any of the bonuses beyond no annual fee cards.
So my strategy is to find the best SUBs I can that don’t require more than about $500 spending per month. Right now I’m working on the Hilton Honors card, which currently gives you 100,000 points for spending $2000 in 6 months.

Loved this episode because it got into real-life utilization and is a personal behind-the-scenes view. I can understand what all the card sites say about benefits and perks. People who only talk about the text on the card sites are boring. I want to know how is it actually working out for you?

@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial Hyatt Regency Hill Country has a better lazy river, but lost pines is better for the seclusion or just general walking around. Points wise those are great value spots for getaways like that for that region

I love this… I’m still very skeptical on re applying for the Bilt Rewards Cards given various data points between Bilt and Wells Fargo Bank.
I appreciate that Ike! Personally everything that’s happened with Bilt doesn’t hesitate me at all. I still believe in the product for the long term and while the fraud charges are nothing to scoff at, I know I’m not liable for those charges so it’s only an annoyance to deal with if anything. That’s just my take though!

Thinking of the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Reserve and getting the Flex to complete the Chase trifecta.. I currently have chase Freedom unlimited.
I have been looking into Amex Gold, but I’m debating.
Which Bank do you personally bank with? I was looking into Navy Federal Credit Union or a local credit union for checking and savings.
Chase bank in is good for credit cards but the the APY in the dividend rates are not there for checking and savings.
Any recommendations??
I personally love the Chase Sapphire Preferred. It's much easier for me to get positive value from every year and it has a much more manageable annual fee while still allowing you to transfer out to travel partners which is where you get the bulk of the value from your points. The Chase trifecta is super solid though!
The Gold card is great too. However I would say it only makes sense if you will naturally get value from the credits and want to use your points for travel. If not, it's probably not worth it.
For my banking, I use Chase as my main checking account since I value my relationship with them. I have a high-yield-savings account with Ally and a business banking account with Novo, and they've all been great. For loans and such, credit unions have been great for me, but I have never used their checking or savings products except to open the account to be eligible for their loans. I'm not sure if that helps at all, but hopefully it does!

Just got email offer from Amex for 150,000 points...can't figure out in my situation how to spend the $15k in 3 months (too bad it is not 6 months but I understand why) otherwise it would be really tempting.
