By the way, the tongue and the larynx are both connected to the hyoid bone, which is a bone located right below the pharynx, which is why the larynx rises in relation to the tongue's height.

This video series is very helpful, thank you! Could you possibly make a video about how to get into the tones of Freddie Mercury? I just seem to not be able to get into anything near that tone. Seems to me he is using all larynx positions, maybe even lower larynx, especially live.

I saw your story today. You are such an inspiration. I am really honored to discover your Channel today Christopher. Today is my birthday 12 th of June . I am fond of singing but I am shy and can't sing in front of others. It is just a hobby because when I am really sad I do not sing frm my heart 😅. I think my voice is similar to my dear Adele but can really have Shakira vibes . I am like a chameleon. My voice changes. I am in love with the Channel and I am a New subscriber now. Sending you all the positive vibes.☺️❤️

how does it feel to sing like that? i mean your mix voice
i can only do a chest dominant mixed voice and it really feels like a high chest belt.
if it's not that chest dominant mix, how can i get that other sound?

    • @ChristopherDavidMitchell

thomas_com_h its always a balancing act.Too much chest and too much head. Muscles want to be all or nothing. It will take time and bespoke vocal exercises to find that middle ground. Stick at it

If you can reveal the secret to that sound it would be really helpful, it’s something that not all teachers know how to explain properly. Thank you!! I’ll keep on watching your videos :)

I just found your RUclips! You are a great teacher with great insight and personality. I would love to hear your take on JAMES Arthur. He is a great artist and I would to hear about his vocal techniques & how he produces the grit in his voice when he begins to belt during the climax of his songs. For example, when he performs “Impossible” live. Continue helping the singing community out. Much love from Washington DC!

To sing like Adam you would need a expert sound engineer, an expensive mic, a custom made in-ear piece and, last but not least in the very least, auto-tune!
Listen to him sing a cappella!

Jealous? Hardly! You are missing the point. Chris here knows what he is talking about, but is literally talking about ONE vocal trick, i e sticking the tongue out to create that LIGHT bright sound that Adam is known for.
If ONE vocal trick describes Adam’s entire approach to singing, that, in my book, means
      a) Adam is a one trick pony, which I always said he is.
      b) Adam always sounds the same regardless of what he sings, which is not good bc, stylistically speaking, he shows no versatility.
      c) Adam primarily focuses on bright sound, aka high notes, to sing every Queen song he is entrusted with; bc of that, the songs lose their original style and meaning since belting high notes at all times while singing rock, and sometimes heavy rock songs, is only self-serving and distracting. Bright notes are impressive, but they impede dynamics and obliterate the lyrics when done excessively. And we both know Adam doesn’t hold back when trying to impress!
      d) I want you to count how many times Chris said “light” referring to Adam’s tone. Light sound needs right soundboard engineer and very good equipment to make it sound fuller: it’s thin and (in Adam’s case) sharp at times and really grating on the ear. So, as I said in my comment, to sing like Adam live would mean using a mother load of equipment, a great sound engineer and, yes, auto-tune, bc Adam has horrible pitch problems, which Chris would probably point out were he to react/dissect one of Adam’s a cappella videos, like his Don’t Stop Me Now or his party impromptu Nessun Dorma.
