Even though you are a master of seascape I personally have a crush for your cityscapes. The way you capture the light one buildings and streets and the way you simplify cars is unique. I wish you a great success for your gallery show . I am always looking forward your Sunday video.😊
This show is absolutely stunning. So happy I had the chance to see it in person. Every piece had me in awe. Studio Gallery has such a beautiful, clean, and minimal aesthetic. Your work is perfect for that space. Congratulations again Michael, you're endlessly inspiring 😊🤘
Thanks Melina!! So glad you were able to see the show. Jen and Rab do such an amazing job of presenting the work. I miss painting with you! Let's paint soon!
Nice show. I like the combination of cityscapes, seascapes and landscapes. It was fun seeing so many paintings that I remember watching you paint on RUclips.
Michael, this show is wonderful. A really good mix of different subjects . Your an amazing artist. I’ve followed your journey for the past three years, every video, every painting, and was inspired by you to pick up oils again after 30 years of watercolor painting. Thank you, Tallahassee , Florida .
Thank you Kevin! I've been watching you on and off for years and seeing your work together in the gallery (two years ago I see!) I think you are a great artist. I like your style and I think you give much to others in your sharing of experiences on your videos.
Congratulations. Many fine pieces with lots of variety in shapes and compositions. Your own favourite comment to my ear: You show what you'd hang on your own walls. Sterling.
So much awesome art in one room!! The cityscapes are absolutely stunning. I hope the show goes well, even with everything going on. See you for your artist talk!
I like it that you are working through different challenges. I paint because I like the challenges that it presents, and they help me to grow as an artist. If we are not moving forward we tend to roll back. "Art without an audience is silent."
@@chamberlainpaintings I used to paint in Watercolor and then 6 years ago I had a fall and crushed my skull. The brain damage ruined my problem solving thought process. By relearning how to paint and this time in oils ( I used to teach art too) I retaught myself to paint and after 7-8 months I began to paint again. My gallery says that I paint better then ever now.
Great show! I love the seascapes especially, but pretty much all of it. Interesting to hear your comments and the history of the paintings, and that you do different versions.
Congratulations on your latest solo show in San Francisco. No doubt it involved alot of work to arrange from you and others. The paintings looked lovely.Escpically the one which showed the bay in the background. The boathouse painting was beautiful too. Thanks for sharing it on youtube for us to enjoy.
My questions. How many paintings did you show? What was the hardest painting to part with? Any surprises at your show like which one sold the quickest, or one with the most attention? Otherwise, love your work and videos.
Thanks again for sharing your experience and knowledge. Your method for deciding which paintings to exhibit - 'would I have it on my wall?' Good luck with the show. Ps. I liked the backing music!
Are these works done on the panels you make from hardboard or are they on canvas? Really liked them all and the interesting use of the different shapes and sizes.
Your work really makes me want to try landscape paintings more often instead of portraits!! I love the reflection of the buoy very much. Do you think all these pieces have anything in common?
Hello Michael: What a great spectrum of paintings/subjects etc. Here's a question for you....Some of the dramatic light/sunset city scapes make it seem impractical to do as plein aire. Given the rapidly darkening sky (as an example). Do you get around this essentially by working from a photo, taken at the opportune moment? That would seem awfully hard, photography-wise. Are there techniques you employ to capture the best representation of the subject?
Great work! Some of these are really really beautiful!! Sending a couple questions in case you want to include in your artist talk: 1) Have you considered venturing further into portraits? 2) Are there any places you would like to go paint in the future? In/ outside, of California? Amazing job!
When your deciding what to paint next.As part of the decision making process.Do you think what will sell or look good in a show? Congrats again on the solo show
@@chamberlainpaintings I find it harder to paint from a painting. But that doesn't make sense. You would think it would be easier because you could fix your past mistakes. But instead I find I stop looking at the subject matter and start painting what I "think" is there.

Painting is all about problem solving. Nothing more exciting than working through something difficult and being pleasantly surprised at the outcome!

Question: Which do you find easier to paint from: A painting you've already done or painting plein air?
Great question for the artist talk!

I have a question. Do you find it hard (emotionally) to sell a painting that you really like? Do you have a personal attachment them?
Great question for the artist talk!
What is your favorite type of landscape to paint? And what are your favorite paints to work with?
Great questions for the artist talk! Thanks!

Do you find that there's a difference in your personal favorite pieces vs. the general public's favorite pieces?
