  • In this video we cycle the Four Rivers Route from Seoul to Busan in South Korea. A beautifully designed and built route that takes us on dedicated cycle paths from one end of the country to the other.
With plenty of great camp spots along the way, as well as good food and stunning scenery, we had a lot of fun riding this route.

It's the second of your videos I watched and what a trip!
I've never been to South Korea and it was completely different to how I'd imagined the country. Truly a beautiful place and such great safe cycling paths. The food looked good too.
If you make it to Europe I'll be interested in how, in your eyes, it compares .
I'm a Brit living in France for 20 years and I've always thought the cycling infrastructure here was great but South Korea looks perfect.
Storm blowing today so your video was a perfect alternative to a ride.
    Thanks.

Thanks for watching again! Yeah South Korea is amazing for cycling and a very fun and easy country to travel. We actually started our trip by riding from London to Istanbul across Europe, but didn't make any videos there. I think the bike paths in Korea are on par with the best in Europe, but I don't think you can beat Europe for culture. Crossing from country to country and cuisine to cuisine was a perfect way to start our trip

Amazing content mate, thank you kindly, liked and subscribed.
Two Canadians here looking to do this route in April/May 2025. Because we plan to go from Seoul to Busan and then take the boat on to Japan/other Asian countries, we won't be bringing our gravel bikes & gear. We have found a company to rent bikes, and have arranged to have our big backpacks dropped in Busan after we leave Seoul by bike.
How easy do you think staying in love motels or regular motes/hotels along the entire way will be? We won't be camping as we'd be packing that gear through Asia, and in the end, while I'm sure it's fantastic, we have camped for many lives worth being from British Columbia Canada.
Should reservations be done in advance? Also, do you think it would be easy to bike less or more KMs compared to the itinerary on a day and then in turn still have accommodation?
Do you have a recommendation on the number of days/KMs to do it in? I understand this is probably quite a personal question depending on how strong of a rider someone is, but i'm just wondering if there is an optimal amount of KMs based on an itinerary perspective ( as in if certain sleeping accomadations/towns are spaced out better depending on number of KMs in a day)
    Thank you in advance!

    • @weridebikesplaces
      @weridebikesplaces  2 месяца назад

Hey! Thanks, glad you enjoyed it 😊
So, Il try answer as best as possible but if any further info needed don't hesitate to ask.
You could definitely do it just staying in the little motels etc, we met quite a few people doing it this way. I don't think advanced booking would be necessary, we never did for any of the places we stayed. We used the Korean map app "Kakao" to find accommodation, and also it has a bike route overlay on it.
Probably a week to 10 days would be best. If your happy doing some days shorter and some longer, you'll always make it to a town with some accommodation options. Enjoy the microwave meals at the convenience stores too! They were honestly awesome.
Totally understand about you guys not bothering with camping, as we are currently riding through BC! And it's the best camping ever! (We're sitting in our tent on the kettle valley rail trail right now) Where abouts in BC are you?
Like I said any other questions please let me know. We also got the boat to Japan, and spent about a year riding around south east Asia.
      Cheers

We had our own bikes, but met a few people out on the route who had rented in Seoul, so there's definitely a few places there. There's plenty of accommodation along the route, they don't use google maps there, but have their own version called Kakao maps, which you can use to look up where to find places to stay, as well as it having a great cycling overlay that shows you the whole route

@@weridebikesplaces So you don't need to book in advance to stay at the hotels? I know you guys set up camps for some nights but do you think it would be possible to stay at a hotel every night considering it will take around 11 days to complete? And they allow bike storage? So many questions haha thanks for the chill and informational video! Will be doing it same time as you guys did (around September) :)

@@user-sc8cq5jo2t we didn't book any of the hotels, just turned up, which was almost always fine. Yeah you could stay in hotels every day if you like, but you might want to book ahead for some, as in some areas there will be much less choice. You can find hotels on the Korean map app, Kakao. We were always fine with bike storage, usually just locked in their carpark. Always happy to answer any questions, enjoy planning the trip!

Any soft drink is a good soft drink when you've been riding in the sun all day
