Nippo plays like Petrosian, air tight, play for draw after draw after draw.
This style is good for a head to head match, and makes your opponent work to win the match, it is not so good for a tournament where players take risks and out of 8 players or more, there's always someone willing to take risks and either be 8-2 or 2-8 after 10 games.
But playing draw after draw at least you won't lose rating points, you won't gain any either.
