Great vid. just one suggestion can you zoom in on the finished pieces more when your done so I can really get a good look at it. spend perhaps an extra 20 seconds just showing off the finished piece ? THANKS !
3:07 You can pant your hands if you want to; you can smear those paints around; and if your friends don't paint, and if they won't smear, well they're no friends of mine; you can paint... On a more serious note, what about a gentle scrub with some steel wool either pre-primer or post-final layer?
Seems like all your vids have a cool blue color filter over them. That's cool. But weird on tutorial videos where I want to see more of the real colors. Thanks for all the good videos.
ow man all these technique videos are awesome, prolly won't look as good when I do it but man Sam seems to be a good teacher, clear instructions and explaining why you want to do it that way in the process. Thanks and I hope you guys will release a lot more of these in the future :D
nice video, answered some of my questions on the salty n hairspray technique ...well all of them actually. Grand job guys oh yea and liked the arty B&W intro. Thanks.
Yay Painter Sam uses P3 paints \o/ My Wargame Consortium - Games & Gear Hydra Brushes and P3 paint set arrived today, looking forward to painterating with them!
I find that quite surprising. Though I suppose it's a bit like reaper master series paints here in the uk, getting them is difficult, getting them at a non crazy price is not possible xD
I generally use an aerosol spray called Testors Dullcote. It's a clear spray-on varnish that is the opposite of glossy. It helps protect the paint. Thanks for watching!
As soon as I get my airbrush in the mail I might be stealing this scheme......looks impressive for such small amount of work! :D Great vid as always lads.

+larabic The salt reacts with the hairspray and sticks better than gravel or sand would. Plus, when you get it wet, it comes off easier. Thanks for watching!
I do like the weathering technique. However, I don't recommend dipping your large brush directly into the pot. I mean, it's your paint, but thinning it with some distilled water wouldn't hurt. Dipping into one color and then the other made me cringe. Again, it's your paint, so do with it as you wish. ;)
Trivial fact: typical Americans should never eat only sea salt because iodized table salt is our main source of iodine, which is essential to the human body. Also, the only real difference between sea salt and table salt is textural.
"Fast painting is all about cutting corners" - Could not be more true.
+SDub It's totally true. Thanks for watching!

THANKS !
Thanks for a good demonstration of the salt-and-hairspray technique.
It works pretty well, and saves time. Thanks for watching!

On a more serious note, what about a gentle scrub with some steel wool either pre-primer or post-final layer?
+aspektx I'm not sure if the steel wool would work. Thanks for watching!
Nice tutorial, I love the salt technique. I've never used hairspray tho. May need to give it a try
It helps a lot with the salt, from what I understand. Thanks for watching!
great tutorial. im actually doing a little personal set using amera plastics vacuum form kits and ive been meaning to try this technique for a while
It works surprisingly well on things that are supposed to be metal and have chipped paint. Thanks for watching!

any specific hairspray you prefer?
As a bald man, I don't know much about it
cheap :P
Cheap, water-soluble, and pump instead of aerosol (because it smells better, in my opinion). Thanks for watching!
A year late to this punch line but.....Can you use Rogaine instead? :D
Aquanet!
ow man all these technique videos are awesome, prolly won't look as good

I hope you guys will release a lot more of these in the future :D
on a side note I don't know how you guys decide on the next video but maybe glowing effects could be a nice topic in the future :D
+Gloir I'll let Sam know that. Thanks for watching!
God damn Sam is one photogenic dude!
nice video, answered some of my questions on the salty n hairspray technique ...well all of them actually. Grand job guys oh yea and liked the arty B&W intro. Thanks.
+shirlzknight We're nothing if not artsy. Thanks for watching!
I'd love to hear Sam's thoughts on painting birds or pegasi... feathers and such.
Great vids!
Weathering alot of terrain this week nice to review. Thanks
Yay Painter Sam uses P3 paints \o/ My Wargame Consortium - Games & Gear Hydra Brushes and P3 paint set arrived today, looking forward to painterating with them!
He's a big fan of them. No one around here sells them, sadly. Otherwise I'd try them out. Thanks for watching!
I find that quite surprising. Though I suppose it's a bit like reaper master series paints here in the uk, getting them is difficult, getting them at a non crazy price is not possible xD
What do you mean by dull coat/clear coat at 9:16? I'm admittedly a little inexperienced and have never heard of it.
I generally use an aerosol spray called Testors Dullcote. It's a clear spray-on varnish that is the opposite of glossy. It helps protect the paint. Thanks for watching!
That's one neat little trick.
Quick and easy paint chips. Thanks for watching!
Amazing. Dont play, but love the craftsmanship.
Salty sea dogs! Great work and nice result.
Is the FW ink sprayed straight, or is it thinned?
And also Sam is quickly becoming one of my favorite tutorial guys.
I believe it's sprayed straight. Thanks for watching!
wow beautiful work
That Sam, he *does* do good work. Thanks for watching!
As soon as I get my airbrush in the mail I might be stealing this scheme......looks impressive for such small amount of work! :D Great vid as always lads.
Go to it. Thanks for watching!
could you do a video on painting metal textures?
I'll add it to the list. Thanks for watching!
You can limit the chipping to hard edges and details only if you just omit the salt.
yay Deadzone! Are you going to do more deadzone painting?
Hard to say. I own some Deadzone, but I think Sam mainly just owns the terrain. Thanks for watching!

Does someone have the link for the video where Sam sells Tau? I saw a clip from it once and I have not been able to find it.
Adepticon 2013 wrap-up video was the first use: ruclips.net/video/Nmg_d7fjNpE/видео.htmlm37s Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! This is perfect, it always makes me laugh.
Sam's teeth are too nice for a metal head. Interesting vid thx.
was that for infinity?
Would you use this technique on vehicles?
Absolutely you could. Thanks for watching!
Good stuff guys! One thing, do you water down the ink in the airbrush?
Nope, just straight out of the pot. Thanks for watching!
Nice. Simple but effective.
+Owf Gaming It works well, and it's pretty easy. Thanks for watching!
Salt flakes works if you want larger pieces.
+rustedbeetle I could see that. Thanks for watching!
Thank you. This is cool. What is the thing you are actually painting? Reminds me of halo 😏
A terrain kit from Mantic, I believe they're called BattleZones. They also come in the Deadzone game. Thanks for watching!
That Blondie shirt. Hell yeah Sam!
Thanks, man!
Whenever I hear "Bloodstone" I get Judas Priest stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
Things could certainly be worse. You might get Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" stuck in your head. Thanks for watching!
Sorry, but you lost me at "using an airbrush" thing, as I am only an average joe in a world of terrain painting...
Can you please advise how to do this WITHOUT an airbrush?
That looks realy interesting and good. But i dont like that white tone. A very bright silver would have looked cooler, but thats just my tase.
+Lancegrim I like it better with a lighter color, myself. Thanks for watching!
Yeah well personal taste and all that :) Keep up the good work.
why salt? why not basing gravel or Sand?
+larabic The salt reacts with the hairspray and sticks better than gravel or sand would. Plus, when you get it wet, it comes off easier. Thanks for watching!

Awesome painting technique, but video production needs a little work. The camera angles and lighting were just kinda meh.
Like a boss!

cool work!😠
Is there anything Jack White can't do?
