    Great vid. just one suggestion can you zoom in on the finished pieces more when your done so I can really get a good look at it.
    spend perhaps an extra 20 seconds just showing off the finished piece ?
    THANKS !

    Thanks for a good demonstration of the salt-and-hairspray technique.

    • @tabletopminions

      It works pretty well, and saves time. Thanks for watching!

    3:07 You can pant your hands if you want to; you can smear those paints around; and if your friends don't paint, and if they won't smear, well they're no friends of mine; you can paint...
    On a more serious note, what about a gentle scrub with some steel wool either pre-primer or post-final layer?

    • @tabletopminions
      @tabletopminions  7 лет назад +1

      +aspektx I'm not sure if the steel wool would work. Thanks for watching!

    Nice tutorial, I love the salt technique. I've never used hairspray tho. May need to give it a try

    • @tabletopminions
      @tabletopminions  8 лет назад +1

      It helps a lot with the salt, from what I understand. Thanks for watching!

      It works surprisingly well on things that are supposed to be metal and have chipped paint. Thanks for watching!

    Seems like all your vids have a cool blue color filter over them. That's cool. But weird on tutorial videos where I want to see more of the real colors. Thanks for all the good videos.

      Cheap, water-soluble, and pump instead of aerosol (because it smells better, in my opinion). Thanks for watching!

    ow man all these technique videos are awesome, prolly won't look as good
    when I do it but man Sam seems to be a good teacher, clear instructions
    and explaining why you want to do it that way in the process. Thanks and
    I hope you guys will release a lot more of these in the future :D

    • @Panzerkuchen

      on a side note I don't know how you guys decide on the next video but maybe glowing effects could be a nice topic in the future :D

      I find that quite surprising. Though I suppose it's a bit like reaper master series paints here in the uk, getting them is difficult, getting them at a non crazy price is not possible xD

    What do you mean by dull coat/clear coat at 9:16? I'm admittedly a little inexperienced and have never heard of it.

    • @tabletopminions
      @tabletopminions  8 лет назад

      I generally use an aerosol spray called Testors Dullcote. It's a clear spray-on varnish that is the opposite of glossy. It helps protect the paint. Thanks for watching!

    You can limit the chipping to hard edges and details only if you just omit the salt.

    why salt? why not basing gravel or Sand?

    • @tabletopminions
      @tabletopminions  8 лет назад +2

      +larabic The salt reacts with the hairspray and sticks better than gravel or sand would. Plus, when you get it wet, it comes off easier. Thanks for watching!

    I do like the weathering technique.
    However, I don't recommend dipping your large brush directly into the pot. I mean, it's your paint, but thinning it with some distilled water wouldn't hurt. Dipping into one color and then the other made me cringe. Again, it's your paint, so do with it as you wish. ;)

    Trivial fact: typical Americans should never eat only sea salt because iodized table salt is our main source of iodine, which is essential to the human body. Also, the only real difference between sea salt and table salt is textural.
