For the record, orb weavers aren't deadly to anything other than bugs, so no need to be afraid of them. Also, they typically bob around like that when they sense a predator, so I'm not sure how sneaky that chameleon was.

Deadly is a bit of a stretch. Maybe deadly to a lizard. But bee sting level venom to us. Orb weavers make the strongest silk that actually is incredibly soft and can be used in garment making.

Here in central florida where i live we have golden silk orb weaver aka banana spider... they are huge, their webs are gold and strong... love them... harmless

It's not called mocking. Orb weavers are nearly blind. It sensed a predator nearby so it did it to confuse the chameleon.
