This week, T1 were knocked down to the lower bracket of the LCK Spring playoffs in a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Hanwha Life Esports.
In the post game press conference, Faker shared how they’ve been unable to practice due to DDoS attacks on the team which he described as simply ‘unfair’.

When Faker says there is a problem, that means THERE IS A PROBLEM. The Goat makes no excuses, only calls out problems.
The other side of the coin is that he's so influential that often nothing is done about certain problems until he complains.
Which isn't a "Faker problem", it's a "why Riot needs to wait until Faker says he refuses to keep playing soloqueue to act on harassment problems".
Riot Korea has been doing a lot of questionable management of some of the issues targetting players, sadly.
Because people only hear/see what they want. If they were in t1 shoes they would cry from this frustration being unable to practise.. people just became stupid and theres nothing that can be done. Faket just stated that its unfair (to them, whole T1 organization) that they were unable to practise properly, and they came to this match unprepared, since HLE had more time to practise. And he also stated that MAYBE this match could have ended differently. T1 fan for decade,HLE were insane

The worst part about this is people attacking not only Faker but T1 entirely. There should not be any dispute that the ddos attacks absolutely affected their performance. So why are people taking to twitter saying hes making excuses? Actual disgusting community.

There were no attacks during the game and no pauses and the first two games were decently close to T1 winning after flips and throws from the other team.
I'm genuinely surprised at how so many people can look at one of the most composed (and arguably the most famous) players in the entire esports scene and say he's 'making excuses.' Throughout his entire career, I genuinely don't think Faker has ever visibly shown any frustration or annoyance at the state of the game or the professional LoL scene aside from the time soloq was in shambles. If there's anytime for him to complain about something that impacts him, I think this is perfect lol. Cause not only does this affect him on a personal level (not being able to play at a consistently high level for two straight weeks), but it affects his team, the org, and also the LCK/Riot Korea for the way they've been handling this.
People forgot that it's not only "unable to practice before play-off", but it's new META, if you can't practice to adapt to new meta, you're fkd

Everybody from T1 has been speaking about this since early spring. Now that Faker openly spoke about it really showed how it affecyed them.
its not even just T1.. normal kr player also got attack so is the live tournament of LCK... but the attack got worse against them when the playoff is near
@@nirvash241 normal kr players don't face attacks. They only occasionally suffer damage when playing with streamers. Comparing the number of Solo Q games played by pro players will give you insight.
Faker rarely makes excuses, when the team lost they would usually admit they got bad performance etc. But on his interview, he did really insisted on saying it and as a major factor of their loss while also saying they poorly performed. People just hated on T1 so bad that they sht on him saying that reason.

Most people prolly knew that T1 will become dominant and have a major chance for the first Golden Road. It is probably the LPL fans who sabotaged the games because the humiliation in Worlds 2023 against Weibo and JDG
@@ViperDivinity Might actually be, TENCENT was already having the game changed over the years to favor CN playstiles, and even changing the way the worlds' worked (ping issue) to give CN more advantages while screwing kr players.
BTW, for those that don't know, supposedly at worlds they play with 0 ping, but there was one that they played at a relatively high ping, about the same as the one used in CN, and T1 was the HEAVY favourites to win that year. Don't remember when this was since I stoped caring about this matters for a long while and I only watch a bit when something big like this happens.
@@anubis9151 wasn't that MSI? when chinese players were allowed to play at their country due to the virus but had everyone's ping had to be increased to make it 'fair' for the chinese, though these chinese players are used to playing at high ping when they practice at korean servers, meanwhile the KR players are used to low ping of course. and to add insult, i forgot which sea team was it that was not allowed to play overseas (vietnam?) but the CH team gets a pass

apex "lan" is also "online" , i remember afew other esports cut corners like that too though i can't remember which articles it was
for league's case, i imagine that it might have to do with how chronobreak works
maybe its lower in cost, maybe there are other reasons, maybe corporations cut corners because 5 ping is good enough as compared to 0 ping, unless you are the network engineer, i doubt anyone truly knows unless they publish it

@@namo2403 It isn't really cutting corners rather than making things like this more difficult. A DDOS attack shouldnt be happening at a local tournament - at all. The current way companies work is to enforce players to play on their servers to get more money, not on whats best for the game. Older senior developers for game studios would have never allowed this, and someone like pirate software spoke on this as well being in the security sector in the highest field, mentioning that local should be local, anticheat should not be kernel level etc. This is voiced down from people who KNOW security and cheaters. Kernel level and always online LAN tournaments are the worst decisions ever made.

The fact that this only happens on a single region server and now only 1 team in LCK recieves the amount of DDosed makes you think that they really want T1 out of the competitive league and it started December after Worlds 2023.

I mean, for Riot to react slowly if at all to this is just abysmal. As T1 Fan for many years, Faker has never complain about his loses and making excuses unless there is A PROBLEM in the Game Itself which not only affects him but also everyone. To all haters out there I wish you all well and I hope you all must have a fair judgment and criticism.

I think people underestimate the impact of such disruptions overall. It's not just having worse preparation, it's knowing you are sabotaged in a highly competetive environment, before facing someone that didn't have such struggles in preparation.
I'd also say the impact was very visible in the way they played and even drafted.
For example, Keria and Guma kept running it down against Nautilus based on the knowledge that usually they'd outdamage/outplay Naut engages on something like a Rumble support.
Zeus' Reksai felt like a desperate meta pick he didn't nearly have enough games with.
And I'm pretty sure Faker didn't play against a lot of Azir (that was previously globally banned) with his Corki.
Faker has always been humble and I have never once seen this player complain about losing. If anything, whenever Faker would lose a title in LCK or Worlds. He would apologize to his fans and thank them for supporting him and his team. He's been a Champion since he touched the game.
To the people thinking IWD actually cares about sportsmanship and isn't just being a piece of shit, remember that he was suspended as a pro for toxicity, and had to retire despite being perfectly able to play because no one wanted touch him with a 10-foot pole, also check his tweets talking about T1 vs his tweets about anything else, and see which one gets more engagement.
IWannaDominate is the worst "sportsman" ever. Constantly scapegoating LCK players even when they hard carried his LPL teams. His Worlds 2023 coverage was pure cringe.

Why do I have the feeling that this DDOS attacks is originated from a certain region now, that they are only specifically targeting 1 sole team and just the whole LCK because said team dumpstered their whole region at a certain event.

As a dota 2 player I am genuinely shocked that riot hasn't done more, with value spending a lot of time in the last year improving the matchmaking system I thought that value wasn't paying as much attention to balance updates as I had hoped. Good to know that at least they priorities a game that actually works.

I would like to think that this drama evolves because it revolves around T1. If any other teams get DDoS'd, I don't think it would get this big. It just shows how ignorant and blind the community could be. I would say HLE's win against them is completely deserved, but that doesn't change the fact that the DDoS attack still needs to be stopped. I'm a T1 fan, but more than wanting to see them win, I want to see a fair, exciting game to watch.

It has been happening since December. How many patches have come out, the meta constantly changes because of it but T1 could not keep up due to the attacks. I was disappointed in T1 watching LCK spring and playoffs, now this makes more sense.

these always-online games can no longer hide the obvious downside of their complete and utter control of the play space; they cant adequately police it to ensure a fair competitive environment. 20 years ago teams would simply ensure that they were running the same patch, of which there were few, and run their own servers in-house to practice as much as they want on closed networks. this is literally impossible for league of legends and just about every other major esport we have now (besides fighting games)
the solution is obvious: relinquish some control and give teams, and honestly players, the ability to host their own games on their own servers. this used to be the norm but now corporate greed has ensured that fairness cant even be bought by the most successful orgs on the planet, it's entirely based on the whims of bad actors who have more power to influence games than ever before

If the game doesn’t constantly provides updates and changes to Meta, this definitely could be called excuse, but that’s not the case. They need to constantly adapt to changes and updates on the Meta and to do that, they need to do scrims and solo queue.
