- In Week 5 of our 14-week Striper Migration Report series, OTW's Assistant Editor, Matt Haeffner, checks in with Captain Brian Williams of Badfish Charters in Ocean City, NJ and Peter Jenkins, owner of The Saltwater Edge in Middletown, RI. Brian and Matt discuss where to begin the search for those larger migratory bass, how to target stripers on silversides and cinder worms, and the importance in being observative and stealthy while hunting for backwater stripers. Then, Peter and Matt run through the spring forage base of Rhode Island stripers, how to approach the cinder worm "hatch" and, looking ahead, knowing when to call it quits in the estuaries and salt ponds to find bigger bass in bigger water.
This week, spawned-out Chesapeake stripers in the 40-inch class hit South Jersey's beaches, Long Island's south shore enjoyed a big wave of over-slot fish while 20- to 30-inchers kept pushing through Long Island Sound toward Rhode Island, and schoolies filed into the Cape Cod Canal with bunker and herring in tow.

We need to have a ban on commercial bunker fishing again and I'm not talking about the local guy with the cast net I'm talking about the industrial commercial fishing on Bunker harvesting just for the bunker oil
If you plan by the Moon- everything is right on time- last year May Moon was first week of month...this year's May isn't until 23rd...landed first healthy Striper on outer Cape April 23...Bayside
Got a 28-30 in stripper south shore Long Island today may 1st 2024
Just caught 3 +38” stripers in raritan 🤷🏽♂️
The striper population was just picking up in the striped population is healthy but the omega-3 company of what's her face from New York allowed them just start harvesting them last year of Bunker and only devastating the bunker population I have a friend and I was on his boat who was a commercial bunker fisherman for bait and tackle stores and we were seeing dolphins and birds struggling looking for Bunker 2 The Omega free company has a little like shipping container vessel to harvest these things and use airplanes to spot them it's utterly devastating the bunker population and again people need their hair conditioner and their Omega free pills and I can't just get that from krill oil does bunker juices much cheaper
u think there in massachusets yet
