      My hands started to sweat when I saw all that wobbling after the first seconds of lift off. Nice video, maybe you could do one where you explain all the stuff you check and do.

      BoonieChris that was my second pilot in command lift with that chopper so controlling wasnt so smoothie yet. Before huey i have flew lot of with AS350 and difference between those controlling is big. It get little time to use to it :)

    There's the downside to a GoPro. They are so good at stabilizing images that they eliminate the bone shaking vibration that is a UH-1 startup.

    That is so FREAKING awesome. My Dad has been flying since Vietnam ( Huey pilot starting 1970 ) and I have been lucky enough to fly in almost every helicopter you can think of. My favorite is the Huey #1, and the SA-315B Lama #2. This video reminds me of flying with him. Pleas upload more if you can. Check out my channel if you like, I fly the R-22 now, 36 hrs total and will have my private very soon.

    For what reason would you want to increase or decrese the govoner RPMs.. I'm sure I saw you do that at 3:02 ..

  • @hermanvanderheide5063
    @hermanvanderheide5063 10 лет назад +1

    Nice video. Don't fly myself, but very interested in the Hueys (DCS). Appreciate your sharing the video!
    Hope you don't mind, have a technical 'start-up' question:
    What are you looking 'at / for' at 3:06 while you're applying the "Iinc / Decr - Gov" switches on the collective (left side)?
    Why do you need to adjust the governor settings at that point in the start-up sequence?

    • @KGB95140
      @KGB95140 8 лет назад +1

      You have to check the fuel control using a RPM procedure check when engine have start.
      Decreasing the RPM using the Gov RPM switch to lower down until 6000 RPM and then increase the collective pitch slowly until the huey is light on the skids without exceeding 94% N1 or torque limit.
      If all is right according to bell indication decrease to full down the collective pitch and increase via the Gov RPM switch until 6600 RPM.
      Voila =)

    Is that the starter switch on the right side of the instrument panel at 1:08? If so, is this a civilian Bell 205?

    • @MrBoldon
      @MrBoldon  10 лет назад

      No its a clock timer. There is some limits to start the engine and the time is one of those. The starting button is in collective. And that chopper is real army version :)

  • @FandCCD
    @FandCCD 4 года назад

    Where is the starter button on a huey? The underside of the collective?

  • @MikeLitoris66
    @MikeLitoris66 8 лет назад

    So the start up engine button is behind collective? Do you have to keep pressing it or just press once?

    • @easydoz1
      @easydoz1 8 лет назад +2

      Depends on the model heli. Most older ones have it there.

    maybe you could help me the emergany govenor on the collective any chance you could tell me how that works ive got dcs world and one mission asks for emrgancy power and i dont know how or what way to press the govenor switch?

    • @Jammoko
      @Jammoko 8 лет назад

      I may be wrong on this as I am only a DCS Huey pilot but I think you need to switch off the auto governor (pull to rear position), this releases the maximum clamp on the throttle RPM so you can squeeze a few extra emergency RPM's (for a while anyhow :) Also useful if your trying an overloaded lift off while you bounce it down the strip...

  • @jackobite60
    @jackobite60 10 лет назад

    Wow that was pretty awesome, much more fiddling with the throttle than id have thought, whats happening at around 3:14? left thumb?

    • @TheIndexCase
      @TheIndexCase 10 лет назад +2

      Thats him testing the governor rpm switch. He is taking the engine and rotor RPM's from just between min and max.

    Do you have a rest of the video? Yours is quite unique because left seat is empty, so all controlls are well visible. That's really rare to see.

  • @mw01720
    @mw01720 9 лет назад +1

    Doesn't the pilot usually fly in the left seat? Are you in India, UK or Australia?

    • @HH60gPaveHawk

      +Max W Helicopter AC always sit right, especially in military birds. The controls for the landing spot and other things are on the right exclusively

      Bell 47 and MD500 you fly from the left seat. A lot of others is right seat.

      Most Civilian Hueys 204, 205, 212, 214 and Eagle Single get left hand PIC STC’s and Dart provisions for long line operations. Much easier to look down over top of the collective, instead of reaching for it, especially for precision work.
