the fact that she made a video she wished she had when she first flew by herself is precious. I definitely needed this. I love flying. I love airplanes, but I only travel one other time by myself several years ago and all the other times have been with my family. So I definitely needed this
Thank you!, I’m going to be flying solo for the first time at 15, I’m catching 2 flights and on the way there and I’m super nervous about getting lost😬
Hii, i‘m 15 too! This year i‘m flying the first time alone and i‘m flying 27h, and i‘m so nervous and exited at the same time. But you got this we both got this :))
Unfortunately for me my first time flying I will also be flying alone, so needless to say my anxiety and such are high and I'm glad to have come across your video 😊
i'm flying out internationally for the first time for college this september and this genuinely helped a lot! i've flown multiple times before with my family but this is going to be my first long flight alone, potentially with a layover, and i've been anxious about the notion so thank you :)
I am terrified of flying this summer!!! Thank you for the tips! I know I can do it, but I have social anxiety and I have two older brothers (but my role in the family is like an older sister). So I have anxiety about what in the world is happening: being split from my brothers, being around a million people I don’t know, “did I accidentally pack a gun even though I don’t own one somehow?”, etc. Plus I have to watch my brothers. One is a wanderer, but you can often find him (unless in the bathroom). The other is pretty good at always sticking with us, but when he does get lost, he is GONE. However, since I have the role of older sister, and our parents won’t be with us this time, they likely will be on high alert, and always do what I say (like ‘tell me when you have to go to the bathroom’, ‘don’t leave my side’, etc). I think their older brother instincts kick in, and they want to protect me, and to “protect me” is to follow what I say so I feel better. I’m gonna make sure my brothers wear comfy but distinct clothes, so it’s easy to spot them. Learned this at a zoo (they both got separately lost, so the next time our whole family wore bright tie-dye… or at least the wanderer did). I am reallllyyyy hoping the “mom friend override” kicks in. “Mom friend override” is a silly little online term that means you have social anxiety, but are also the mom friend (the one who takes care of the rest, similar to a mom). So while your social anxiety prevents you from doing things, if a friend asks you do to it, your ‘mom friend instincts’ override your anxiety, allowing you to do the thing. It’s ok if that still doesn’t make sense. Point is: because I am taking care of my brothers, I’m hoping my “mom instincts” will cause my need to lead and protect overrides my extreme anxiety. Edit: mainly, I wrote this for myself to talk myself through it.
im flying for the first time alone in a few weeks to visit a friend and this rly helps to calm my nerves lol. Ive traveled many times with my family so youd think id be more chill about it but theres so much anxiety associated with airports and stuff i cant help but get rattled
I was the same way. Always traveling with my family but never alone. I was so scared leading up to actually doing it but everything was completely fine. Anticipation is always worse than reality. You got this :)
Thank you so much for this video. I'll be flying alone in January 2022. The last time I flew along was 20 years ago and things were sooo different. This really helped me to prepare and ready for my travel. Thanks again!
Thanks a lot I’ll be flying to Europe alone for the first time next week and I’m so worried about missing my flight and getting lost in the three different airports I’ll have to pass through, this made me feel better. The last time I traveled was before the pandemic so I’m also a little bit anxious about the new procedures.
Thank you for this video. I recently flew up to see the rest of my family and am now flying back by myself, I'm 15 and extremely stressed. I'm worried about losing my stuff, getting lost, and even potentially missing my gate, but this video helped quarrel some of that.
Thank you so much! I too was looking for how to navigate the airport solo & had a hard time finding videos that covered it to my liking. This is great.
Gonna be flying to Wisconsin (most likely alone) to visit my long distance boyfriend this July! This will be my first time flying alone even though I have been on about 6 different flights with my family before. It's been a while and I am nervous lol
14 year old me is stressing rn about my flight thats next week I’m going alone and I’m scared I’ll get lost in the airport or I’ll lose my flight . Losing my bag is another stress 😭

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!! this video made me feel so much better in 13 now gonna be 14 when my flight is and I have been so nervous and ur video is the first to actually help me solo THANK YOU!
I'm flying out in two days, it's gonna be the first time I've flown myself and I'm terrified!! Airports are what I'm most worried about hah,, this video helped a bit so thank you 👍
Additional tip: USE AN AIRTAG!! Qatar Airways thought my luggage was in Sydney (where I landed), Sydney thought it was in Berlin... but it was actually in Doha...
Thank you for this! I’m 12 and catching 2 flights in a few days, by my self for the first time (13 hour flights), so this made me feel better. It was very informative and soothed my nerves a little. :))
I had never been on a plane, hadn't even been in an airport and flew alone across the country to San Francisco last August. It was definitely a stressful experience navigating the airport and figuring it out. Will never fly American again, they delayed 1st flight by an hour, missed my connection, they gave me next flight which got delayed for 7 hours and I ended up getting a different flight. So that was stressful. Delta I had a much better experience! Overall I learned a lot and ty for the tips. I go on my 2nd flight in April!
This video makes me feel so much better about my multiple flights in the next few days 😭😭. I’ll be flying alone and with covid restrictions I’m more stressed about getting there and home.
i’m gonna be flying alone at 11 😊 i’m really excited cuz i love everything about planes but also a bit scared, but there are gonna be cabin crew making sure i’m safe:) Btw i’m flying on saturday:))))
im thirteen and im flying from india back to the us for the first time alone and idek how to navigate an airport i never payed much attention when my parents did so im terrified
Thank u some mux, i always travel with fam but im bout hit Brazil - Lisboa and back to Spain by myself for the first time in a month or soo, your vid made feel real good about itttt
My two biggest things I hate about flying is when the plane levels off at cruising altitude and it feels like you are falling for like 3 minutes. The other thing is stopping after we land. The vibration in the floor feels like a bad set of brakes on an old car that’s not going to stop.
Thank you for the video. Im flying next week with lufthansa from sa to frankfurt to manchester. Super scared to do it all alone, i have a million questions and stressing about every little thing
Thank you so much! I'll be flying internationally for the first time, alone. I'm kinda nervous since I have a midnight layover from 1 am to 5 am in Bangkok (somewhere I've never been to).
You got this. Not sure where you’re coming from but I promise that as soon as you touchdown in the United States you’re going to feel so amazing. It’ll be scary once and then never again.
Im 15 and im leaving for japan for a 1 year exchange program tomorrow so im just kinda staying up looking for any tips. Im also kinda scared because it's my first time going to the airport alone. And I'm also not going to see my family for a year
When you give your boarding pass to the ppl that let you on the plane do you get it back? Beacuse my flight has stops that would make me get off and wait for another plane so how would I get on that plane ?
@Kian Lynch It went pretty good all you need to do is follow the signs in the airport and you can get to your terminal easily. The staff are happy to help you and if you get scared just trying to slow your breathing and remind yourself that it’s just turbulence. You can also have someone follow you to the gate if you come over two hours early. I was kind of nervous with the turbulence and my ears were kind of painful(I suggest chewing gum). It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be though and I got there safely. When you arrive you can either have someone pick you up from the gate or you can just go outside and stand for a while while you wait for someone. They also have shops and places where you can get food and stuff
something that comforts me is the fact that airports have a _lot_ of police presence, and very strict security - if you wanted to kidnap someone, an airport would be one of the _worst_ places to ever do it: criminals aren't quite _that_ stupid to try. - plus, all the staff want passengers to move around the airport and get to where they want to go as smoothly and as easily as possible: helping you out when you're lost benefits the airport staff (they won't have to chase after somebody who's late!) as much as it'll help you, plus all signs will be in both English and the language of the country the airport is in! - and finally ... ... ... the pilots and the flight attendants are _experts_ on flights and flight safety. they don't want to crash and die either!!! so if literally _anything_ feels off to them... they'll report it and get it fixed. like. they would not be getting on the plane if they thought there was _any_ risk of danger.
