Lol..why does Weston not know a thing about the Muggs? He didn't know the leather (kudu) or that the new ones are V3? 😅😂 I mean...not that hard to read your own press release ;)
My Costco sells the Ugg side-by-side with the Kirkland version. Everyone speculates Kirkland contracts their brand to whatever factory makes the name brand on their shelf. It would be nice to see these versions on a face off.
It has been my theory for years. Between my daughter and I, we have 6 pairs of Uggs. I also have a pair of the Kirkland ones. I 100% believe Ugg produces them for Costco. The feel and the stitching is incredibly similar. It is typically how retail works. Generic brands are almost always produced by the name brand companies.
Perfect timing! I am in the market for shearling pull-on boots and knew from your original video that Uggs weren't worth the price. Thank you for your detailed analysis and inspection! Now I can make and informed choice. Great work! ❤️ - Marisa
Girl UGG boot lover here (and PSL lover too lol), thank you for confirming what I've always suspected: those Bearpaws are crap!! I've always seen people recommend them as a cheaper alternative and I'm like yeah, they look and feel cheap. The best value UGG-type boots are probably the ones from Costco that you can get for ~$30-40 every year, depending on the style. I will say I have worn branded UGGs for years now and they do last pretty well (make sure to waterproof them), but I would never pay full price. If you're not picky about color, wait until the spring sales and pick them up for 50% off. AVOID the "UGGpure" ones though - they're not real sheepskin and not worth the $$$.
I bought a pair of Bearpaws about 10 years ago and I loved them. I used them for 6-7 years before the wool in the heel wore away. I don't know if the quality went down or if crappy pairs are just as functional but I had no complaints. I also wear their slippers and get a solid 2 years out of them before the wool wears away, which seems good to me.
Thanks for the info! Would love to see comparisons between Australian brands for people wanting to pay for "authentic" but being unsure which to get. (Or other quality competitors.)
I actually got a pair from American Eagle and they were quite comfortable. For the price I felt they were a good value although they are from 2009. Bear Paw is a good brand and I now have multiple pairs.
I do not want to wear uggs or buy any of these shoes but I'm watching all your new uploads because this content is super interesting. I want to be a leather expert like you some day, Weston. It'd be so cool to make things like knife pouches and watch straps out of leather.
For me the softness also matters a lot and the fit. Uggs used to be exquisitely soft and fluffy years ago plus the shape is a bit nicer than some of the traditional dumpy uggs..lol. Which I think is why the brand took off in the first place. The pair I just bought are only kind of soft on the bottom and the rest is a bit scratchy. They are well made, but cost more than they used to and definitely are not worth what they cost today. The Bearpaw boots I have are very soft, but the shaft is a little too wide for me making them awkward to walk in so they sit brand new in my closet. I would still try another pair of a different style from that brand. I like Emu Australia a lot and they are warmer than any boots I've ever had. Still pricey, but worth it more than the Ugg brand today. I've had other brands as well that were marketed as made with suede or sheepskin and fur, but probably were not. Yet, they were still very soft and held up well.
I bought some combed wool from a yarn shop with the intention of adding it to the worn down parts of mine, but never actually did it because I wasn't sure how to proceed. Hope someone has some ideas.
@@kellyrenee77 I ended up just washing it and then using a pet style brush to fluff up the wool which I figured would help it better trap air again, seems to have worked well
My girlfriend loves these shoes. I’m gonna get her a pair of wild wool. I hope she likes them. She has a bunch of uggs boots and shoes. Nice to see uggs are decent quality though.
Bojorndal is my favorite ugg type boots. Minnetonkas are good too. Bojorndal are European made. Bear Paws are ok too. Size down with Bear Paws. I put Uggs on once, and we're shocked at how cheap they are.
I bought a pair from walmart for my sister's birthday in May, she absolutely loved them and wore them almost every day. They were terrible quality, in my opinion, but she still has them, and they are almost completely destroyed.
You're obviously talking about Kmart "ugg" boots. Which are made in china crap like the two pairs Weston says are garbage. Real Aussie UGGS are available widely if you look for them.
@@mCblue79 I actually meant the target ones which are actually very good quality considering, but yeah, you're right that they're "made in china" (sri lanka actually but I know what you're saying) but all the "Australian uggs" that are "widely available" are also cheaply made overseas. Good quality, Australian made ugg boots are very expensive and reasonably difficult to come across
I own a lot of Uggs because I buy 2 each year, and I just bought uggie type booties from Amazon for 30 dollars lol I beat up my uggs so I needed booties that I can beat up and it wouldn’t hurt my Ugg loving heart
I'm dying to make my own pair, does anyoe know where I can get a pattern for UGGs? I have some thin vibram soles that glow in the dark, then I will be using 2 layers of veg, single face medical grade shearling with some lovely full grain oily pull up facing out.
Minnetonka has been going downhill for quite some time. Everything is made in China by low grade materials. But, they still are charging a high price for being stylish . Dirty Harry said it the best...
