One thing I decided to do as soon as we got our new pop-up, was to replace the tires right away with a much better brand. Hopefully that will decrease the amount of times. I need to change the tire. Thank you for the video. It was very informative.

Of course you know we had a major tire blow out in the middle of South Dakota this summer. 😬 One thing we have now learned to keep with our tools is that metal tape like for HVAC. We were able to completely reconstruct our wheel well with it and get us on our way!

In line with this type of incident. I just purchased a pop-up where the previous owner had a significant blowout which left significant damage to the wheel well. What would be the best way to do a more permanent repair?

what a horrible design from Jayco. Came to this video because I've been curious how I will change a tire as I have the exact same model and it sits so low. Never though will have to deflate the tire. Unbelievable. Might just carry the spare deflated as I will have to deflate it in the side of the road. I still in shock that's the way to replace a tire.

    Good video.
I am fortunate to be able to enjoy camping in my ‘88 Coleman Columbia tent trailer, which I inherited from my parents.
Some suggestions, things I often forget to do, and hopefully I will do what I say, lol.
Have some good headlamps for darkness, heavy duty gloves for hot metals, disposable mechanic gloves for keeping hands clean, and I’m sure there’s more that I am missing.
Enjoy the good, and try to be prepared for the bad. Again, I’m saying this to myself.

Quick question.. I have a pop up camper that my ac works but it trips the breaker at the hottest peak of the day which is between 12-6pm . I usually turn it on around 7pm and it stays on all the way till the next day around 12 and trips the breaker. Is not low on Freon or is dirty i done spray some coil cleaner change the filter. You think it might be the breaker box . I know the breaker box has a small fan built in but I don’t see it tim on right away or it turns on later on . Hope you can help me . By the way I live in texas and it gets hot..

I have a highwall and learned from having a flat on the side of the highway. To carry a floor jack( that can pick up the camper) The bottle jack did not feel safe on the side of the highway.1/2" battery impact and sockets to remove and reinstall the lugs. I do carry a air compressor and plugs. It would be nice if the manufacturers would mark a spot under the camper or a note on the side to know where to place a jack at.

Bummer about having to deflate the tire to get on or off. I'm rock'en the starcraft and haven't had to experience that issue.
    Thanks for the video.
Any chance you can make a video showing the people good ways to stow away the camper while it's raining? I think it would help explain the patience it takes to keep the bedding dry. 🤯

Your wood blocks illustrate the issue I had the one time I had a flat on my little Starcraft with torsion axles. I was on a two-lane road and the flat was on the traffic side (aren't flats always on the traffic side) and there was very little shoulder to pull off the road. I got the truck jack out only to find that it didn't extend high enough to actually lift the trailer because the trailer frame sits so high. I don't remember how I resolved it, but I probably found something to stack under the jack. After that trip, I found a (relatively) light-weight floor jack at Costco that I bring with me. While it's bulkier to transport than a bottle jack, it's got a high reach and it's VERY quick up and down, so it minimizes my time to change a tire and therefore is MUCH safer (especially if the flat is on the traffic side)...and I can use it to fix flats on the trailer or the tow vehicle.

Thanks for this video. I have the same Jayco Select but a couple of years older than yours and I thought maybe the issue of getting the tires out of the wheel wheels was unique to mine. Even after deflating the tires I have still had a little difficulty getting the tires off.
Also, I'd like to share a little story with everyone out there so you can use me as the example of a "lesson learned the hard way" and avoid it yourself. Last fall when returning from a camping trip I had a tire failure on the interstate. The entire tread face of the tire came off and, fortunately for me and my wife the tire did not deflate immediately. I was able to safely pull off onto the shoulder and about two minutes after stopping, the tire started going down and was completely flat within five minutes. As luck would have it, my spare's valve stem had dry rotted and it was useless and, I say "as luck would have it" because the tire on the other side probably would have gone flat within a few miles. Turns out that both tires were nearly ten years old and, even though they both had lots of tread and looked good, they were not. So, don't be a cheapskate like me and try to make your tires last longer than they are really intended to. I got very lucky that there was no damage to the camper and even luckier that the tire didn't go flat immediately. I've seen plenty of video of trailer tires going flat with some very dangerous consequences.

I didn’t have a flat but, when I picked up my pop up, I found that the wheels were low on air. After trying to top them off at gas stations who’s air pumps didn’t work, I decided to use the air pump I drought with me only to find that the cord wasn’t long enough to reach the wheels. I removed the wheels one at a time and brought them closer so the cord could reach. As soon as I got home I went on line and ordered a 25 foot long cord.
