Guys, I just took the test today with little to no training at all. I’m surprised I passed. I’m out of shape so if I can do it, so could you. Be strong 💪
Hey, I am doing the course on Friday and during weekend. How did you do in exam? Are the questions from quizzlet enough or how did you prepare? @d.c.1706
@@danielsinal969 hey I’m not sure if you passed the course already but I just passed the entire course today. Quizlet really helped a lot during the written exam. It’s pretty basic stuff.
Once during a junior lifeguard course we were passing a brick around in the water while treading, and when the brick got to me I struggled to lift it and submerged under the water. The instructor had to grab the brick from me 😅
I plan on practicing for about 2 weeks before taking the pre-test. I'd say I am beginner do you think that is enough time to prep for endurance and the dive?
i start lifeguard training soon, i’ve not been very active, especially because it’s been cold outside. i’m unsure about my stamina, and i feel like i don’t know what i’m doing😭 wish me luck:)
you got this! I recommend trying to get a day in the pool before just to see how your swimming is. If not, you can wing it like I did haha. Lmk how it goes
My refresher course is soon and I’m nervous it’s my second year and I feel like I forgot everything - so should I go over the Red Cross book or wait for the course . Let me know !
You’ll be completely fine. They go over everything in a concise way. Much more laid back then getting ur certification for the first time. However, I recommend refreshing urself a little bit, especially for the written exam u take again.. You’ll be 100% ready to go!
I passed my lifeguarding course two days ago and got my certification with out any training at all, because I definitely under estimated it but I passed thankfully, it was incredibly hard.
Hey Adam I had a question regarding the 300 yard swim I don’t really swim as often but I do NJROTC and cross country do you think I’ll pass it if pace my self properly?
Yes you’ll be fine. If you are a strong swimmer, it’s muscle memory, so frequency of swimming beforehand doesn’t matter. The swim test for me was the first time I swam in 4 months, so you’ll be fine. Pace yourself and get into a rhythm. Don’t tire yourself out to try and keep up with the ppl around you, common mistake. Focus on you and getting those 12 laps consecutively while pushing off the end walls to glide and cover a lot of the distance
i havnt swam in like two months since swim season but i have the training in 10 days, im so nervous i try to practice at my work once im off(some pools) the last 30 minutes, im really hoping that’s enough. I’m just nervous for the brick test
I have a phobia called "Emetophobia", basically its the fear of vomiting or seeing others vomit, I was wondering if it would affect my job as a lifeguard ?
I have my written test in a week and am about to start in person lifeguard class I’m rlly nervous I’m gonna fail and won’t be able to be a lifeguard this summer
i have my in person course this weekend but i finished my virtual course over 3 weeks ago... what should i review? i feel like i know the topics but my memory is a bit fuzzy
I’m assuming the virtual course was cpr/aed mainly. I would review those notes and take a stab at first aid. The water stuff will be covered at the pool so u don’t need to do any studying. Just develop a strat to pass the pre tests
@@CamilaSouza-hy7gs well the first thing we did was the laps, treading water, and brick test and I actually failed my brick test the first time but my supervisor let me take it again and I passed the second time. And two of the days we had to end early bc the chlorine was high so we kinda skipped some of the training. And during my cpr test I forgot a few things but he still passed me so 🥴
Adam, so I am an LGI teaching my course I just wanted to let you know the part around 5 minutes is wrong the teacher can’t not be the lifeguard guarding the class. There has to be someone else there guarding
Appreciate the comment, during my certification and recert classes. The instructor would hold the tube while teaching the class. There wasn’t a guard on duty. All 4 times. Makes sense tho why by the book there should be one. Thanks
@@LifeofAdam yeah but it's still $200 down the drain. I've signed up for the same course but at a different pool, but it's 8 hours a day for that one, which I'm NOT looking forward to

i watched all of your vids and passed my course easily! thanks keep it up
Congrats!
When I took the course I had no issue with the pretest. I had the fastest time in our class for the brick dive at 45 seconds!
way to go!

99% of the time not at all. However u never kno if someone at the pool gets sick

I'm doing my second re-certification for lifeguarding but i'm still a little nervous for it lol
Haha, honestly was a little too. But once u are there and u meet ppl and start swimming. It’s honestly a fun time. Low stress tbh
Okay so i can do the 300 meters which is 12 laps but can’t do it back to back. Any tips?
You shouldn't need to. My pretest was the 300 meter swim, 2 min tucked arm tread, and then brick test.
A 200 is only 8 touches if the pool is 25 meters long

will my fear of pool drains stop me from being a lifeguard?
Shouldn’t be an issue, majority of the training isn’t at the bottom of the pool

I’m taking the Test today
If i know breaststroke only can i become a lifeguard
Yes
Tattoos are a problem for lifeguards or not
No tattoos are fine, just make sure if you are around younger children for like swim lessons that your tattoos are appropriate
Hell naw I have test tmmr😔😞
Good luck! You got thus
It is 400 meters in Canada for the endurance swim
