- On September 13, 2017 the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) test-fired a Taurus cruise missile in response to a North Korean ballistic missile test. In this video, you can see as an South Korea's F-15K Slam Eagles launch the boxy weapon, which plunges straight through the roof of a practice target, penetrating into the ground below before its main warhead detonates.

The F-15 is my favorite! I spent a year in Korea and love and respect the people. They are incredibly smart, hard working, and are a military powerhouse in all branches.

The F-15 is a fanatstic jet. Can carry plenty of ordanance. Capable of long range (for a fighter jet). Loads of thrust. Proven in combat.
The F-15 has a win loss record in Air-to-Air combat of 104 to 0. Even after decades of service remains one of the best fighter/bombers in the world.

I believe 1 or 2 F15s crashed due to pilot or mechanical error. None have been shot down by another plane or SAM as I know of. The fact that only 2 MIGHT have been lost in combat just proves how formidable a fighter it is.
Served 2years in South Korean Air Force 11th Fighter Wing and had chance to watch F15K right next to the runway. Definitely the best fighter wing in the North East Asia.

I always loved going to Korea with my Reservist. ROK Marines were crazy and we tried our hardest to out do each other. I brought Indonesian food the white guys could deal each other’s food.

True. Most notable example would be during that Israeli SEAD mission that destroyed about 90% of Syrian SAMs batteries near Lebanon.. Using a combination of F15 and F16.

All I can say is that the newest version, F-15E proves that 4th generation fighters are here to stay for sometime to come and, don't need to be replaced by the F-22 or the very costly F-35.
Eventually you'll have to replace them with more stealthy planes. otherwise they get shot down from long range too easily. Right now you go in with the stealthy planes to lower the air defenses and then let the fourth generation planes clean up. They are meant to work in conjunction with each other not replace each other for the near future.

That's a good question, is it a spelling mistake or a grammatical mistake. It's definitely not a punctuation mistake. How is ROKAF F-15K compared with RSAF F-15SG? They are very similar but what are the differences?

F-15K will upgrade to F-15EX SPEC, mainly avionics AESA APG-82(V1) RADAR , LAD(Large Area Display), newer Electronics warfare and Mission Computer and do not upgrade to Fly By Wire system( it will keep legacy flight control system ) but also newer wing( has a additional pylon) for save upgrade cost.
How does the F15SG variant compares with this?

ROK is one country that can justifiably purchase the F-35. It needs a solid tactical attack aircraft with sufficient stealth capability to aid in penetrating the IADS of DPRK. The F-15's, F-16's, etc will provide the air cover tasking that the F-35's are unsuited for.

So how is this version different from the other F-15 types?
The F-15K is a F-15E with 40% Korean parts and 25% of it being assembled in Korea. It also has different networking capabilities, different sensors and can use different weapons compared to the F-15E.

Korea ordered F-15k to replace retiring F-4Ds, not for F-5s. They r replaced by F/A-50, which developed by Korea themselves.

Large wings, powerful engines and radar. The name "Eagle" speaks for itself. 🦅 Unlike that slow and fat F-35. 🦃 🤣🤣
BF35 in the f-15 are different planes with different purposes. Don't compare them head to head because they're different. The f-15 should be compared with the F-22. The f-35 should be compared to things like the f-18 which is a multi-role aircraft like the f-35. And remember at red flag the f-35 had a 20-1 win ratio, and it's only loss was against overwhelming odds of at least six to one. You have 35 is no turkey. It's an incredible piece of hardware. And comparing it to the f-15 is silly because they are totally different airframes with different purposes in mind.
