"My Dearest" has already won awards, and it will win more. If you're younger you probably loved "Twinkling Watermelons", but if you're older, it's between "My Dearest " and "The Good Bad Mother".
I agree My Dearest, far and away the best Korean Drama ever produced. It is perfection. The acting, cinematography, music, writing, and directing were world-class and excellent. The Good Bad Mother was very good, My Perfect Stranger was also very interesting and well done, and Welcome to Sam Dal-ri was delightful. But hands down, My Dearest is at the top. One of my favorite movies of all time.
Twinkling watermelon is the best. I even ended up asking my mom and dad about their love story😢.

"My Dearest" should be No.1 as it swept 9 awards. It's a masterpiece. Well written story, masterful direction, stunning cinematography and a cast of brilliant actors whose flawless performances brought to life this heart-rending story of undying love despite all obstacles. This drama deserved all the awards.
Moving was truly a great series. All the ingredients for a good story and so well done. I do hope a second season will be decided. It’s too good not to have at least a second season or a movie sequel.

Not my genre at all, but it was my second favorite drama of the year, after Twinkling Watermelon. Both were outstanding!

Love to Hate You was amazing! I laughed and cried so many times throughout that series. The emotions were intense! I fell in love with both the male and female leads.
I'd go with Miraculous Brothers, The Kidnapping Day and (more than likely) Evilive for my personal favourites of 2023 so far.
I also have high hopes for Goryeo-Khitan War, mainly as I've been craving a historical political/ military for a very long time.

My Dearest is probably the best kdrama I've seen this year, and it could potentially make it to my all-time top 10 list. The synopsis in the video doesn't do justice to the show. It explores very deep and challenging subjects, and the drama becomes darker and darker as it moves forward. So if you’re planning to watch it (which I highly suggest), watch out for some trigger warnings.
I agree. There are very serious relationship, gender roles, socio-economic-status cultural issues, the status of women, trauma, political and more in My Dearest. It's not really a melodrama at all. Incredibly well written and filmed with truly great performances by the leads and the entire supporting cast. The war violence is terrifying. But the uncovering of the mystery of Lord Lee's family origins/history is downright freaking scary. Lady Yoo's transformation is a wonder of acting. It's at the top of my solid love story list--including such beyond kdrama.
It ranks number one for me, it held such deep emotions and the lead cast were so easy on the eye to watch.

I finished episode 9 yesterday and can't really muster up the courage to watch episode 10, although I know it's a happy ending show, but the emotions till where I have watched were heavy. Not to mention the war scenes are so immaculately done, I have never really paid attention to such scenes, but this show really raised the fear of wars in me.
Can someone suggest me dramas like my dearest ?
I've watched over 100 kdramas and yet none of them were even close to how good Moving was. Moving is a breath of fresh air among shitty romance dramas and actions with many plot holes. It has the best of both worlds and executes everything perfectly. If your ever going to watch a kdrama, let it be moving.

I'm a fan of Taxi Driver. Probably my #1 KDrama. Cannot wait for season 3 next year. All the characters are great, but the lead is phenomal.

Moving for sure is one of the best this year. Daily Dose of Sunshine was awesome too, and Castaway Diva was 10/10. Twinkling Watermelon also... Like, the second half of the year have been really good base in the Kdramas we are watching. You have to updated this list for the last week of the year jeje

I've seen half of your list, and more than half of another. My favorite for the year so far has been Twinkling Watermelon, which I am shocked didn't even get a mention! But the other list I watched didn't mention several of yours, either, like My Dearest. So many great dramas, so little time (even when you're retired there's just. not. enough. of it.).

"Destined with You" is among my top favorites and is super entertaining, far better than some of the dramas you've mentioned. It deserves a spot on the list of top-rated Kdramas for 2023.
I was actually gonna question the authenticity of this list if Destined of you was a part of it lol. As much as I loved the actors, the script was very poorly written ngl

A big part of the success and appeal of Destined with You can be attributed to the smart and hilarious script which was effectively rendered by the leads, especially the male lead. The numerous positive reactions to many of the video clips (of scenes that became so memorable) from the said drama can attest to that fact, so much so, that "Get a grip, Jang Shin Yu," easily became popular and became a favorite buzzword of some sort. lol From any of the 20 top Kdramas listed in this video, can you give me lines in the script that became as popular????? What . . . the scripts were so well written that not even one line can be easily remembered? What a waste lol!
@@lory123ful You say "no problem" but the rest of what you've written certainly reflects the opposite lol. The drama "Destined with you" had its set of hilarious moments, agreed. But that's all it had, the story itself was hollow and did no carry a lot of weight. The female lead was straight out of what you would expect from perhaps a 2014 kdrama, that's how pathetic and pushover of a character she was. The male lead was a red flag for pretty much the whole drama and his cheating was justified by his gf cheating too. I'm sorry but a drama with a few hilarious moments here and there and gorgeous leads does not automatically translate into a good drama. You talk about other dramas in here not having 'iconic' and 'as memorable' lines, well maybe not something someone would remember at the drop of their hat, but at least there were characters with depth and development. Please, the only success this drama had was because of the main leads' acting and visuals.

From my end, it's okay to disagree. I am just exercising my freedom to express my own point of view and reactions to your reactions to my initial comment. If I give premium to iconic lines in a drama and their impact on most viewers as a sign of good and smart script (after all dramas for me are primarily for entertainment), that's my own preference, NOT yours (clearly!). I just wish to acknowledge and thank the scriptwriter of Destined with You for writing the impactful lines (as far as I am concerned). The script made my day for so many days. @@lory123ful I agree with you. "Destined with you" may not suit other's taste hence not included in their list, but it it one of the best Kdramas I have repeatedly viewed . Love the characters down to Gi-Dong, and the script .

I don't know who ranked these dramas, but if you look at the Korean ratings, No. 19 here, King the Land, scored 13.7% in Korea and Destined Whit You only 3.1%. Both of them are JTBC dramas, therefore had the same chances.
Maybe your favorite dramas are no. 21 and no. 22.

These kdrama directors really just had to release such interesting dramas during the months that I must study, so many dramas and so close together, where were they last year when I bored out of mind with nothing to do? It doesn’t help that my youtube recommendations and shorts are full of edits of all the dramas I want to but shouldn’t watch 😭

@@nishanthprakasam I just decided to watch it after a long while loosing interest with Kdrama, it finally gain my interest back. It all depends on each individuals preference. I'm pretty hard to please, too. Reviews doesn't really affect me. I need to see and experience it myself.

@@nishanthprakasam Expectation it is! On the other hand, it was totally unexpected that I'll loved this drama. Episode 5 or 6 didn't do it. Not so much on the storyline although it's kinda a breath of fresh air. It's the chemistry and connection of the lead actors. Cuteness and sweetness overload! I perfectly knew it doesn't happen so much in real life but hey that's what entertainment is, to take you out of this real chaotic world. If it happens, there's nothing wrong being a hopeless romantic.

Killing vote started off remarkably, along the line I think with such amount of grip and suspense they had on the audience, they successfully messed up the end. The end wasn't worth remembering.

I felt the exact same way when Bulgasal: Immortal Souls came out. It was my top favorite kdrama for that year, and still in my fav top 3 now. It was never covered at all by mdl. I don't understand why that series was ignored.
I'm shocked heartbeat didn't make the top 20. Vampire Kdramas are rare to come by, especially really well done ones with a good budget and storyline.
This list shows how diverse everyone’s preferences are. with all due respect to most of you, Moving does not rank first for me and Uncanny is too good to be at 18th place. My top three from 2023 are *The Worst of Evil* , *Arthdal Chronicles Se-2:Sword of Aramun* , and *The Uncanny Counter Se-2*.
yeah it is up to the choice, i loved uncanny and worst of evil. bt for me moving was complete series. i had all the ingredients.

I like uncanny counter aswell but its nowhere near the level on moving production and story wise.
My Dearest "if it sticks the landing haha" and Moving are my favorites so far. But so many great dramas. I have only dropped two this entire year, overall really a fun year.

none other than "moving", this was so so good series, action, romance, friendship, family, sacrifice, everything is there. such a complete series.

Same! After ep 4, it became so boring and uninteresting.
I never even began it since I didn't like Bong Soon that much because of the dumb side stories. The three leads were very appealing, though.
