Not so much with the women (they are fairly passive) but, I've heard that it's due to strict censorship. I watch mainly for the terrific stories...very creative & unusual! No, even if the guy looks plain/normal.. It would depend on his actions whether people think him to be a creepy stalker or not. Great movie. I enjoyed the story and romance.
This is a good example of cultural differences. The message for the woman is comply when told what to do. The message from the man is I can insist on getting what I want and ignore the fact that you are uncomfortable and it will be acceptable. Personally, I would NEVER accept food from a stranger. If he refused to respect my wishes when I said no, then I would get up and see if I could find another seat because I'm not putting up with that. If there's no other seat then I would have to totally go against my upbringing and curse him out.
