I actually really like facing control members honestly almost entirely because of that article you wrote about facing against control a few years back, completely changed the way I saw the deck
I almost never comment on RUclips videos, but it's absolutely BANANAS that this video is 2 and a half hours long. Jim, I love watching your content, and I feel like watching your game play makes me a better magic player! Keep up the awesome work, thank you sir!
Four weeks late here but this video was pretty bananas. I definitely feel your comments about Pioneer UW control - the deck just feels gutless so often.
It’s always a treat to see my favorite MTG creator play my favorite deck in my favorite format! :) Edit: banana 🍌 This league also shows some of the main barriers for arena players trying to get into pioneer. They really gotta add bring to light and those missing lotus field cards.
I really like 2 copies of Intrude on the Mind, 2 Memory Deluge and 1 Dig for my card draw in this list. The extra threat from Intrude has really come in clutch in the mirror and can also help with blockers after a sweeper against aggro. Fun list though. UW Control has game against everything in the format currently. Hardest matchup is a fast convoke draw and Amalia combo imo.
I have more success with my deck; veto, march, farewell, and teferi are two-ofs; I added two narsets and two disspiates. The critical mass of sweepers lets me stabilize easier against creature decks even if the first doesn't outgrind them and I meet midrange more than tempo so Sunfall beats out Verdict and Narset is a valuable lock piece. Sideboard cuts seedsharks to hold verdicts for the tempo decks.
I have absolutely no idea how it's allowed to cast Tibalt from Bring to light. You can explain the rule to me, but it's absolutely clear that that's not how it's supposed to work, just like when cascade spells could be used to cast Bust form Boom/Bust
This Deck is almost Arena Viable, except for the Hallowed Moonlight.......... I've Always loved the Azorious Control, and even the Jeskai Control Decks...
Tbh I think your playstyle isn't optimal compared to people who main the archetype. It requires that extra small % edge of precise decision making to win games, more so than most archetypes
Magic? On MTGO?? In 2024??? It's more likely than you think!! Edit: if wotc had spent half the energy they've used to make stupid tie in products on updating arena with cards we'd have modern by now

2024 MTG in a nutshell - the black midrange creature deck outcarding the azorious control deck.
I love Jim but I also see loving that black deck give that blue white Garbage control deck The business
Play Pauper or legacy or Penny dreadful if you don't like that
That’s the whole reason midrange works
@@demiurge2501it’s traditionally aggro beats control, midrange beats aggro, control beats midrange.
@@deli_9697but like, golgari gardens outcards control in pauper too.
Always fun watching Jim play UW.

Jim playing UW control? This PT is pioneer? Is this the dream?

If there are two things I enjoy in life, its a good banana and watching azorious control go to work.
It's bananas I'm still here. Appreciate the hard work of making UW Control entertaining, Jim!
That last match was absolutely bananas!
That last match was bananas, I like this codeword game. I get to prove that I'm sticking with you through thick and thin.

F6'ing your turn into victory is a pretty bananas line, solid flex bro.
Two and a half hour video of Jim playing UW control? This is heaven. This deck is so hard to play, it's understandable that some misplays are had

That match was bananas, hope you found a deck that’s more your speed. Good luck out there.

What is yellow and curved? It be the codeword!
It's a good deck but I do think you're using the wrong build.
There isn't enough interaction or draws, dig is waaaaay to slow for the format
