It's impossible to overstate how much I appreciate these videos! The format, the clear explanations, and the progression through the ranks are all beneficial. I stick to this channel and watch coverage of titled matches for fun. I don't have lofty ambitions for tournament play but I genuinely love this ancient game and I am glad we all live in a world where we can explore something as complicated and nuanced as chess with others who feel the same.
Nelly, I love you and your videos. Im not great at Chess and have improved so much from teaching. But I do have constructive feedback as someone is gifted in other competitive areas: you have to stop looking for “rice” everywhere. Take your losses and just look for what you can do better without giving yourself an excuse. Who cares if they are cooking rice? Even if they ARE, it DOESNT matter. Focus on playing better. Tell yourself that you are going to get so good you’ll even beat the rice cookers. You need to control what you can control. Focus on you getting better every game and not your opponent. Again, I don’t know much about chess. But I do understand how to compete at a high level. And it’s obvious one of the biggest things holding you back right now is your mentality. The best competitors in the world control what they can control and focus on getting better, regardless of circumstance. Your current mindset of looking for rice the moment someone makes really creative moves is going to hold you back from being the player you can be. I say this with all love. I watch nearly all your content. You are a great teacher and a great player. But we all thing you can be an even better player, and it starts with your mentality.
And after the second game, Nelson was like "This opponent (I won) was about 100 points higher than the previous one (I lost). What is wrong with the ELO system here?" Man, any opponent beyond 2000 should be strong enough to play really good games more than once in a while. And this is rapid chess, not classic. The less time you have, the more erratic the results can be (even for strong players). Don't let you hypnotize too much by those numbers. Not every single game reflects the average that the ELO number is.
@@WaldoWizard him losing and after the game analysing his mistakes helps us also learn from him. What did you think, people don't make mistakes and don't learn from losing ?
@@WaldoWizard well it's the internet, you don't know when it's joke or not. bold of you to assume I don't have a sense of humour, we clearly don't know each other 😂
About Fronk98: I'm so glad you beat him so quickly and well. I don't like the way these kind of players play at all. Fast and careless, thinking they don't have to think about moves. Now he's got his comeuppance.
how do you show all those possible move options you are talking about on the board - ps I have learned so much watching your videos and how you say what you are thinking!! thank you!!
Ah the Dutch! Really learned a lot from GingerGM's chessable course The Dutch. You'll probably know him, he's a streamer as well. Greetings from Holland! (Dutch)
I played the Dutch and the Bird alot between 600 and 900 rating (currently 1350) but I stopped because it's just so wild of an opening especially the pawn g2 variations. You are constantly having to watch for the knights jumping in and the diagnal of your king. It seems like it opens up a lot more tactics for your opponent than it does for you, but if your opponent can't capitalize, they lose in pretty overwhelming fashion.
You playing the Dutch Defense. I'm a low rated player, so if I'm white, I just rarely ever see my opponent play the Dutch defense, but when I am black, I do play often enough. When I am black, I do indeed play it sometimes. My favorite is the leningrad variation if white allows me to play it anyways.
Nelson is a great player but he loses on time (or because of time pressure) too often. I know some of these people play too fast but Nelson needs to play a little faster, even if it means less detailed explanation for us!
He should probably complete the games first and then present them on here with commentary so that his commentary is not distracting from his game performance and putting him in time trouble.
I think that when you play against a rice cooker, you need to stop thinking up tactics and elaborate tricks, instead try to play careful and relatively fast safe moves. You will not outplay stockfish, but you can hope to run down cheaters time to the point he either looses on time or plays on his own. I think I saw this work here at least one time against a possible cheat.
You just got outplayed in the Mag game man… you missed so, so, so many easy tactics. :/ that game was not suspicious. It was like 1800-2000 chesscom chess.

I’m 1600 and I also suck. Everyone does. But it’s funny I’ve found a 850 player can smash me if they play a better game. Until you hit like 2000+ it really just is about consistency
So what? Just keep playing, learning, and improving. Train your perception (if you play a lot, this is going to happen anyway), and put some patience into it (for example, by really looking into your games afterwards, especially at your mistakes - this may teach you the most).
See the Chess Vibes video from a year ago (Aug 2023) called "we need to talk about this" about an email sent by the friend of a suspected cheater, why Nelson had suspicious of cheating, and how he doesn't want his viewers to harass suspected cheaters.
Looking back over your past games, you played a lot of cheaters in late September, so many closed accounts, geez. See guys the suspicions are justified
Game 3 completely missed a hanging rook and took a pawn instead then in the game review still doesn't acknowledge he had a free rook justsays he need to keep the king in the 8th rank
