When I was younger I wanted to help in the kitchen so I tried doing the dishes. We were out of dishwasher liquid so I used dish soap, the logical alternative. This is exactly what happened.
I did the same thing but on very cheap laminate flooring at my aunts. Thought I was being nice starting it before leaving. She returned three days later from her vacation and I stopped getting birthday and Christmas presents 😢
A friend's ex-bf's parents did this cuz they'd never used a dishwasher before& the hotel they stayed had one. They ended up having to pay for the floor replacement bc it was wood
Don't use anything that foams in the dishwasher OR THE WASHING MACHINE. This is what happens. Think about you washing your hands in the sink and all that lather you create. Now, think about putting that same soap in a machine that has an agitator as well as a powerful pump. Need I say more?.... Dishwashers and clothes washing machines use detergents that do NOT have foaming agents.
LOL! You know when this happens you need to stop the dishwasher immediately you will destroy the pump letting it go under extreme sudsing. You need to hit cancel,let it drain, let it refill, let it drain, keep doing it until the suds are out. The pump can burn out when it’s under that heavy of a load letting it continue on without assuring it, with all those suds and the suds seeping down thru the access panel is dangerous.
@@Goldenwoodz You're correct. I misinterpreted what you wrote. Oops! That clean-up will take hours and most likely will take several cycles of nothing but water before the foaming agent is completely gone. Glad that's not me.
@@spocksvulcanbrain No worries! Yeah the best thing you can do to clear the pump is to cancel the cycle, and restart it, once it has filled up with water and recirculates the water for a few seconds cancel and drain it again and repeat the process until it’s clear
The first time I lived in a house with a dishwasher in the 80s. I didn't have dishwasher soap. Nor did I know there was such a thing. I put a squirt of Palmolive in the dispenser. It was a scene out of a 70s sitcom. The foam was 6 inches deep.
I accidentally did that as a kid and my mom started screaming and throwing all the glass dishes at the floor and the walls. Then she made 8 year old me clean it up
No. Dishwasher detergent does not suds. Even with a blocked drain. You could get some spillage (flooded), but you won’t get suds. Newer dishwashers will shut off if the drain is blocked.
Not to mention the long term negative impact of putting regular dish soap in a dishwasher. Expect to have issues with your diverter valve and seal, circulation pump and it’s seal.🫠
Omg, this gave me PTSD from when I was a housekeeper at a timeshare resort, which had a full kitchen. Well, after the Covid lockdowns, there was a supply shortage and we ran out of Cascade dish pods. Well, my dumb aZz decided to put some Palmolive liquid dish soap, 🤦♂️ and about ten minutes later, there were suds bursting out around the door and water dripping from the hinge area. I opened the door and a wall of foam spilled out onto the door and ran off the sides and the whole bottom rack was covered in a thick cloud of bubbles. I could not even see the dishes on the bottom rack. I panicked so hard, I wanted to quit, I wanted to jump off the balcony because I didn’t know what to do, and cleaning a guest room is so time-consuming that you don’t have extra time to deal with situations like this. 😂 I took out all the dishes and threw a bunch of towels in the machine to collect all the bubbles and sop up the water on the floor. I ended up washing everything by hand while the dishwasher did a rinse cycle. Omg, that mistake set me back an hour. Never again! I have never grown up using a dishwasher so didn’t realize that the machine soap is less sudsy. Now at my new house, I use Dawn liquid soap in my machine as a prewash, but I just put a couple drops. If not Dawn, I’ll use Oxiclean. 😂

Well you don't put liquid dishwashing liquid in the dishwasher and that's what will happen and you are supposed to use cascade.
Just put a little bit of laundry softener in. It will make the suds go away.
