BTEC College of the Year 2018

The BTEC Awards are an annual celebration of skills-based learning: established to acknowledge the achievements exceptional BTEC students, apprentices, teachers and centres.
One Sixth Form College has a fantastic ethos: they are just one big community - tutors, teachers students and all other staff involved. All the staff deeply care about the success of One Sixth Form College students, and it shows in the opportunities they worked hard to bring to their students.
The college Personal Progress Tutors (PPTs), who are non-teaching staff, support and mentor a group of tutees with their academic progress, pastoral needs and progression. Together with the teaching staff, they have supported the students to produce excellent outcomes - student attendance for 2016/17 was 91% and retention was 98%.
One Sixth Form College is the only post-16 organisation to have membership with the Institute of Directors (IoD). To join the group each year, students are required to submit covering letters and be interviewed. Students have a vast amount of opportunity made available to them including a day on the London Stock Exchange as well as attending a dinner with the IoD members giving the students opportunity to network.
Their Ofsted report stated the “Outcomes on vocational programmes are also
outstanding” at One Sixth Form College.
