  • Controllers can now be replaced at home. This process is technical and needs to be done very carefully. We've published a video tutorial with a step-by-step install guide that needs to be followed exactly. If you are uncomfortable with the process, we offer a Controller Replacement Service with a 6-month warranty.
    Make sure your board is registered in the Owners Portal at my.onewheel.com. After installing your Controller, you must activate it within the app/Onewheel Owner’s Portal to ride.
    Note: All component sales are final and no returns are available. Also, please ensure you select the correct Onewheel variant, Controllers are not cross-compatible.
    When replacing your Controller, make sure to replace your Motor Hub Bolts and Gasket.
    Warning: high-powered lithium batteries can be dangerous if not handled properly. Failure to follow installation instructions properly can lead to serious injury, fires, and risk of death. You can also damage your board or make it unsafe to ride if done improperly which will not be covered under warranty.

    if you buy a GTS controller module and a GTS battery module, can you upgrade a GT to a GT-S?
    you'd obviously need to get the GT-S charger and probably eventually upgrade the motor, but very curious.

    Is there any registration/activation that needs to be done through the app, similar to the Battery Module swap? Or does it automatically pair to the first Battery Module that it's connected to?

    • @Onewheel

      Yep, same process as the battery module but instead of clicking activate battery you'll just click for controller module

    Any chance to see voltages on the XR? I'm sketched out riding my board on the streets after having it stored in the winter. Hate seeing all these videos of boards just shutting off randomly and it would suck even more in traffic

    Great job FM, and thank you for listening to the community. Also a suggestion could we get a retro series board that looks like the XR. That design is classic for the days when you want a lightweight cruiser.

    ive seen so many guys strip these apart and have never once seen anyone talk about torque specs(thank you). But why in Newton-meters? why not ft lbs? also wouldnt you want some lub for the gasket?

    Having these parts available now, would it be possible to upgrade a standard GT to a GT-S by swapping the motor, battery module, and controller to their GT-S variants?

    • @jordanmacfarlane5807
      @jordanmacfarlane5807 26 дней назад

      I don’t see why not you could even use the 6” hub and better foot pads !

    • @drumstickscarecrow
      @drumstickscarecrow 26 дней назад +1

      @@jordanmacfarlane5807 The only reason I could possibly see it NOT working is because of the serial number. I don't know if a GT's serial number could be "ported over" to what would essentially be a new GT-S build. I know FM says the controller is for repairing a board, but not sure if it's limited to just that. Being able to convert a GT to a GT-S would be a huge win for people wanting to upgrade that don't mind sacrificing parts of their GT in the process.

    • @itssimplyjeff1
      @itssimplyjeff1 25 дней назад +1

      @@drumstickscarecrow i'm not sure if this is possible, the GTS uses a different charging plug
      edit: it actually looks like you can buy the GT charging port, but not the GTS just yet. i think once that's available, you should be able to "upgrade" your board. i think most will upgrade the motor first, then do the battery+controller+port together

    • @drumstickscarecrow
      @drumstickscarecrow 25 дней назад +1

      @@itssimplyjeff1 Oh yeah, that's something I hadn't thought about yet. The charge port should be a non-issue since that's built into the hardware you'd be installing. However, you'd also have to get a GT-S charger since the GT charger doesn't work with the GT-S.

    Why are new hub bolts being recommended?

    • @Tactical_Taco
      @Tactical_Taco 26 дней назад

      The loctite.

    • @Onewheel
      @Onewheel  26 дней назад +1

      As Taco mentioned it's for the thread lock. Once you break the seal on the bolts from the factory over time the bolts can loosen due to vibrations. Fresh hub bolts come with a fresh coating and will be more secure than reused bolts

    • @annuet6454
      @annuet6454 26 дней назад

      Fresh loctite and cheap assurance that you’ll be putting in bolts that won’t be overly stressed from multiple removals or have a stripped bit or threads.

    • @sfctac
      @sfctac 26 дней назад +2

      @@Onewheel I've taken my XR apart dozens of times, are these bolts any different? It's great that parts are available for sale but this recommendations seems wasteful. Just tell us which loctite is being used.
