Thanks for the idea! I have a 70 F600 tow truck that the petina is really awesome on it! Some spots though have a LOT of paint missing. (Too much to leave bare metal). I wasn’t sure how I was going to fix that and maintain the petina look! NOW I know how! Thank you!!
I've used this technique as well. What I've found that works best is those cheap Jersey Gloves, Ace Hardware's Rust Stop paint ( cheap & comes out in a fan pattern), and a cool humid night (or during the winter in the shop when you barely have temp). When your all done with everything, hit it all with a little Rustoleum Satin Clean to keep it from "chalking" and your good to go for a lot of years. Good Vid.
Thank you for the new technique, I'm gonna try it. Hey Anthony if someone doesn't like it they don't have any taste, two thumbs was up. Keep up the good work bro!!
@@73xlh I received my MFA as a professional sculptor many years ago, and patina was a finish we had on our bronze sculptures. Seems that now it is accepted for a natural appearing finish on anything. Language and it's uses changes regularly, so I'm over it. Regards, Solomon
Patina (/pəˈtiːnə/or /ˈpætɪnə/) is a thin layer that variously forms on the surface of copper, brass, bronze and similar metals (tarnish produced by oxidation or other chemical processes), or certain stones,[1] and wooden furniture (sheen produced by age, wear, and polishing), or any similar acquired change of a surface through age and exposure.
I have it is one of the first videos in the build series. I'm also finishing a video on the chassis of the new Hookers and Blow build today so look for it soon!
To me the way you put that black paint on makes it look like the hood's original color. I know you still need to see it in the sun but it looks awesome so far.
Love it cheap how to .
Great vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dig it, gives it that look of it was black 40 years ago and that's what's left of it, cool
I like it !!
The hood turned out good 👍👍🇨🇱
Still my 2nd favorite Ratrod 👍👍👍👍👍
Who doesn’t like cheap and easy ,
That's a great idea 💡 thanks for sharing.
Looks better than the fake patina!
LOVE IT
Cool effect; I'm gonna try this method on wood for my guitar bodies, etc.
Great rustic patina paint tutorial!

Glad I could help. I might add too if you look around some paint stores can color match spray cans.

Hand rubbed lacquer
Cool effect! Kinda like white washing old lumber?
Pretty much!
Please look up the word patina
What did I say wrong?
@@HardCoreFab Nothing :) Its just that bad paint or rust is not patina. the word is just misused sometimes.

@@sjp52047 thank you. I'm certainly rough around the edges and mean no Ill will to anyone. Thank you for explaining that in a civil way.
Thank you for sharing. Have you done a video on how to make up the frame for a crow

Very cool. What paint did you use?
Thanks! That was like 4 years ago so IDK but I'm sure you can see it in the video if you look close
Interesting and cool!! Never thought about doing it this way before. How many gloves do you go through on a full car?!
