Brahmastra team actually took some suggestions previously and improved from the teaser to the trailer. They are also doing it for the first time so its good to have healthy critisizm that could make it better. Afterall Ayan has waited 10 years for this to become a reality. I'm sure he'd be happy to get these suggestions that could actually improve as his end goal is to please an audience so why not take feedback and make it work as much as he can. For RRR, VFX artists broke down the detailed analysis later on and appreciated every tiny effort. I'm sure Ayan wouldn't want to fail them too and set a good bar. He wants to make it the best one yet and feedback is always good for that.

Well its not supposed to look realistic. This is not a period film, its a fantasy movie. The whole purpose of a fantasy movie is to make fantastical choices when it comes to the vfx. Look at Harry Potter, LOTR, do the elements in those movies look realistic? No. Its nothing but a creative choice.

Thank you. What I've been saying for a while now and getting hate from others for it -- the VFX lack professionalism. Im not a VFX expert myself, but like you said I can subconsciously notice something is off and I have a strong visual sense -- I realized myself a long time VFX look best in low lighting, overcast skies and from wide long shots and quick shots. Despite this very obvious trade secret, our directors use bright lightning, daylight (krissh 3, Bahubali) close ups on CGI and slow motion, making it bloody obvious it is CGI --- it just baffles me if I can notice this, how can not the director, VFX supervisor, the cinematographer? Why do they do slow motion on VFX and let the audience know it is CG -- look at the animal effects in RRR and Bahubali, remember Bahubali running over the extremely fake cows in slow motion, did rajamouli not see himself how fake it is looking.
In Brahmastra all the best shots are the ones in dark lighting and all the worst shots are the ones saturated in too much bright and warm colours. The ones I hate the most and am genuinely surprised how not only did they get the OK, but Ayan chose them for his trailer --- all the yellowish shots of the brahmastra and the light coming down to earth; the yellowish shot with Alia in her boots lying on the floor with some kind of whirlwind in the background, it lacks depth of field, looks as bad as the tunak tunak video. The final shot of them running as the ground gives way also does not look good, reminds of bad CGI from 2012 movie, but even worse choice of colour .
I appreciate brahmastra for upping our indian standards, but it is nowhere close to Hollywood professionalism. The same VFX artists are working on it from Hollywood, but whats lacking is the visual and aesthetic sense of Ayan himself.
Compare Bhansali - he has the visual sense to produce perfect shots. He has even proved he can work with VFX in Bajirao mastaani and padmavaat. Notice he uses dark ambient lighting, practical sets and VFX seamlessly, that you dont even see the VFX.

Rajamouli must have seen how fake the cows were but that was the best he could do at that time and also vfx wasn't that popular in india so his attitude must have been like baakiyon se to achha hai na. Now that he has got global popularity definitely he will give more care to vfx shots.

Maybe it's just me but I like the anime style VFX instead of Hollywood's realistic VFX. The more realistic VFX looking U make more boring it looks best example for me is live-action Lion King. With the huge amount of work went in the VFX its the most boring looking film I have seen in my life. One of the main reason why RRR works so well, it blends the unrealism with realism.

My reply is this. We may think realistic and refined looks boring, but it gets more respect and is classier.
Compare sardar uddam to RRR, both anti colonial movies, but one is a cartoon for dumb masses the other a serious movie that can be proudly shown to anybody in the world and it will be universally appreciated for its actual filmmaking.
Padmavaat and Bajirao mastaani are also called boring, but they are a class apart from Bahubali in all aspects of filmmaking, even the VFX and war scenes.
