Also just noticed the link to your Facebook and IG pages, you should give them a plug. They've probably been there the whole time and I haven't noticed
Just got back from the shop. I was able to get the 4” cut out and the back tacked on. I’m pretty excited with the result so far. For some reason the back of the dentside short beds has always bugged me. One of those things that once I saw it I couldn’t unsee it. I may plug the instagram account but I hardly ever use Facebook. Thanks for mentioning the accounts though.
You may have talked about this before and I missed it but what’s the plan for the chrome trim along the side? Will you have to modify the original trim or will short bed trim fit? Or no trim at all? Looking good with 8 subs to go! Good luck.
Haven’t talked about it yet but there appears to be a very easy way to shorten up the trim. If all goes well this week that might make it into one of the next two videos. I’m still hunting for a piece of trim for the passenger side. Hoping I can find one locally.
Nathan's Garage did a similar cut on the back of the box on a couple of bumpsides on Crown Vic frames. ruclips.net/video/fU-QKtXpFbw/видео.htmlsi=y7IGLvENvTdaQJcv
Cody, Ford actually DID make/build Dentsides just like this! Yep, from the factory, they were 4” shorter… in Mexico. I saw one on the Ford Era channel, in his “What the Truck” segment. A gentleman had a gorgeous (light blue, if memory serves me), Dentside. I loved it immediately because it just looked right. Turns out, he explained, that the Dentside trucks sold in Mexico used the Bumpside frames (maybe Ford had excess, and this was there way of using them up?). Evidently, the frames are shorter, so the beds were made to fit them (must have different attaching holes too, as those frames are narrower in the rear). Anyway, read up on it, and you can find pics of them. You’ll see that you were right on the mark with taking 4” out of yours! I’ll be doing it myself, so you vids (this one and the follow-up one) have been VERY helpful to me! Great new channel - keep up the great work!
This is incredible info. I had no idea Ford made these dimensions from the factory. I’ll have to go back and seek out that video now. Glad you are finding the videos helpful! Good luck with your build!

I'm curious how this will look, I guess I've never been bothered by how the short beds look. Looking forward to the next one
