I've watched interviews with the Babymetal girls. (They were 12, 12, and 14 when this song came out I believe) They've toured with metal bands like Metallica. I think once metal knew if they were actually into metal music, a lot of them accepted them like a kid sister.

They conquered the audience and set a record for tee shirt sales. Their popularity has sky rocketed and now they are one of the biggest live concert acts in the world.

In the end they promise to work out if they can have a piece of chocolate, pretty much. Road of Resistance (Live in Japan) is the nicest example of how Su can control the crows. She splits the crowd making a Mosh Pit/Wall of Death. When you start to see their huge stadium or festival shows, you can gauge the size of the multiple mosh pits that are formed. The KAMI band always has top musicians and the dedication that everyone puts into the show is quite amazing. Su-Metal, Moa-Metal, and Yui-Metal (since departed) were very young and Su being the eldest at 12 and the other two were 10 on their debut.

Baby Metal is a genre of Japanese Metsl known as Kawaii Metal or Cute Metal. It was formed when the older one was going to be "graduated" (kicked out) of her idol (pop music) group for being too old and didn't want to quit. She teamed up with the younger two.
Another popular group is Lady Baby.

A few things for starters : we call it a fox hole, because according to their lore, BABYMETAL was summoned by the Fox God to lead the Metal Resistance and to unite the world through metal music. Also, the video you did is called "iine" not "line". It's pronounced "ee-ney" ;).
You've done two fun songs so far, two "wtf' songs, but next you have to give "Road of Resistance Live in Japan" by BABYMETAL. This will truly blow you away. ;)

Baby Metal is a combination of genres. First, the music tempo is heavy metal but the songs are written in a pop mode with the tune being catchy and easy to remember. The girl's costumes are pure anime as is their choreography. With that said:
As EVERYONE points out-these girls put on one hell of a show-well worth the price of admission. Their stamina is amazing and what is more amazing is that behind the scenes these girls are just very polite and demure schoolgirls. There are videos of them going to school. The two younger girls, Moa and Yui were inseperable for years-the very best of friends but something happened in 2018 when Yui decided to part ways with the band.
Still it is mind boggling that at for decades the US ruled all genres of rock (the big money was in the US) but the recording industry threw rock n roll out the window in 1990. Now, truly great rock acts like Baby Metal and Nightwish are not only from other countries, but in countries that aren't the US, these acts will fill a stadium whereas in the US they will play an arena or even a smaller venue. I didn't know about Nightwish until a year ago (they get little airplay if at all in the US) and Baby Metal I accidentally stumbled upon them a week ago. Add in the mix-The Warning, a trio of sisters from Mexico who rock hard, but pretty much play clubs like Liliac, also a family act with Liliac being the only US act here.

There are two theories about the statue. Some say it is supposed to be the Virgin Mary, while others think it is a personification of Su-Metal as a goddess. I own the DVD of this concert and after many viewings I can vouch that the statue has Oriental eyes. Why would they give Mary Magdalene Oriental eyes? And, yes, I know the concert begins with Ave Maria. As for what genre Babymetal is, they are their own genre, Kawaii Metal (cute metal).

  • @MacTaipan
    @MacTaipan 5 лет назад +5

I love to witness those WTF expressions turn into smiles. :-)
You were spot-on, they are indeed doing homework at that one point in the choreography. The "protagonist" says that after a hard day's work they have deserved a piece of chocolate, but then they start worrying about their weight again. The lyrics are not the most sophisticated, but it's not necessarily just a song about chocolate, either. It may also be about social pressure to "fit in", which in Japan is probably even more present than in other countries.
Following suggested links is a good idea, since there are a lot of videos that have a tendency to get blocked. There's some randomness to it, but for the most part we know which of them have proven to be safe in the past. Let me start with suggesting a song called "Headbanger": ruclips.net/video/P9miB6jKLRw/видео.html

  • @michaelwolf6692
    @michaelwolf6692 5 лет назад +5

The statue should be holy Mary but with the face of Su-Metal and at the end something will happen with it but i don't wana spoil it ;) . This song is very simple but catchy. But you realy should watch a live performance...this one has stuidio sounds and only the performance is live. Road of Resistance would be a good example where you can also see the Band and the Fans in the Mosh'sh Pit.

Here's some info for ya Billy than.
1: In the first song you viewed iine, Su-metal (lead singer) is 16 and Yui-metal and Moa-metal are 14 each.
2: Statue is Virgin Marie watch Ave Marie Live to understand why.
3: Don't worry about inappropriate shots because all Idols wear briefs as they are underage. Yes Babymetal are idols.
4: Sadly Babymetal does not exist in this form anymore as Yui-metal(cute round faced small one) left the band because of bad health.
5: The music genre is Kawaii-metal (cute-metal) described as mix of metal and Japanese pop Idol music, thus singing dancing and cuteness but also vocal adeptness, followed by heavy music.
6: They still make music and do Tours You can watch them in the US tho tickets get sold pretty fast. And no Yui :(
7: They don't use Metal hands(horns) Its Kitsune(fox) hands(ears) its basically the same but you put 2 middle fingers and the thumb together and thus make the fox head/face XD tm
Altho Babymetal hit the world for its quirk value They became liked because they have a very rounded show.
In the west we have artists focusing on trendy, hype exploits and/or one point focus in performances also alot of "artists".
In Japan not everyone can be an Artist. You have to be special for someone to dedicate time and money to make you a star. And a star you will be if you stack up.And you will not be if there's noone behind you. It kinda messes with "freedoms" of the west where if you think you are an artist you can be one but that's also why we have alot of garbage and one hit wonders, also reduced quality and effort.
Asia may lose out on some smaller wins but overall their losses are very minimal when it comes to business. They also don't have that dreamy mentality of having fun and earning money. These girls worked HARD from the very beginning. They take education and production very seriously. Their Best students are Stars of the school, and society unlike west where sport is the cool stuff.
They start with an amazing band "Kami band" (translates as God band, also Hair-band depends on writing, play on words)
Have very talented girls pushing amazing amounts of energy and also vocals from Su.
Mixing very different styles of Music.
    Are very capable dancers,
and to top it all highest level production. Starting from costumes ,stages ,moves, music ,PR etc...
Their songs are also quite deep sometimes but its hard to translate as Japanese quite often has multiple meanings on same wordplay which is used alot in songwriting.
That said simple translations are available. Direct ones are impossible so noone captions it...
To understand better their production value, Next time I suggest watching Road of resistance live in Japan.

Glad you mentioned the often over-looked fact that BABYMETAL is not just a strike of dumb luck. Of course, it wsa a huge gamble, J-Pop and Metal? WTF? Right? But they did work hard, very hard. Every ounce of success is deserved, it wasn't just a matter of being mindlessly cast in roles dreamed up by some corporate suits, as the haters often like to say... usually from their narrow and ignorant view. An excellent post. Kitsune up, Po!

Babymetal reaction I see, I hit that Like Button... This is Jpop/Idol Metal Music Genre, or Kawaii Metal, that's cute metal... So if you are now in this journey and u wanna listen to some rap on it, you should react to PA PA YA! next, a song from their latest album this year! Great reaction keep it up!!

No BM reaction is complete without the BM preacher , the knowlege holder the one and only Rick Wagners comment. On a different note. You have reacted to 2 of the "weaker" songs. It's true though that "Gimme Choco" is BM id card. This song went viral and gave them worldwide attention back in 2014. To be frank that's what propeled Japanese rock and metal music fame outside of Japan as well and I'm really happy I fell down that rabbit hole back then. Many great bands and a huge hole in my pocket getting merch from Japan, UK or Germany. As others have mentioned allready Megitsune , Akatsuki , Rondo of Nightmare are some heavy hitters (imo). If you have thoughts about continuing with BM i'd suggest you run the catalog back to front to see the evolution of the music and the girls. It's interesting going from pop-metal to classic/modern metal to themed folk metal with some BIG names from the metal scene featured in the latest album(Joakim was a delight but I needed more Alissa tbh).

It's not Line. It's iine, with 2 ii's. Pronounced ee-nay. Which is why the chorus was 🎵ee-nay🎵ee-nay🎵.
