My first experience with flip books was Captain Underpants comics where they would have one page that you flipped back and forth really fast to see the character moving. These are a bit more advanced than that 😅 My favorite flip books to make were always stick figures on the bottom portion of sticky note stacks!

Hey Andy, I’ve been watching you for a while now and love how you come up with so many fun ideas for your videos. I’ve always loved animating for the longest time now and you really inspire me to make animations and get over my laziness, I’ve also made flip books which I loved to do. I gave a flip book to my English teacher actually because she thought they were cool as well. The only trouble I have with flip books is constantly running out of paper.

Hey, Andy 👋. I am a big fan of flip books ever since I was little. I somehow discovered your channel around the age of ten, and I was mesmerised by it. I always wanted the flip book kit, and was really upset over the fact I am not in US when you were giving away a 100 flipbook sets. I somehow forgot about this channel. A few years later, I receive a video in my recommendations and it just gave the desire of having the kit again. Hopefully, I am not late this time, and win this. Love from Pakistan.

Not long ago I saw your "hotdog" flipbook remake from a flipbook you made 30 years ago and it's absolutely amazing how your love for animating has grown to your job! I remember doodling in the corner of my own notebooks and stencils to make small little animations. Small, but a lot of fun to show friends the goofy silly things I made

Looks like an awesome set. And I had no idea a flip book could be cut so you could fit several scenes in one book. Simple yet genius!
Hi Andy! I have watched your videos for a good 3 years now and entered into the 2020 flipbook contest. You have really inspired me to start making flipbooks! I have always loved animation and used to make stop motion all the time, your videos taught me all about flipbooks, how to make them, what to make them about, and how to come up with ideas.
The line challenge especially influenced me to make flipbooks because it really helps show that you dont need a massive story with everything moving, that you can just make a simple line into a full animation!

Who knew that a bunch of small pieces of paper stacked and then flipped could end up so creative and epic?
One of my favorites is the Zoetrope animation at 14:52, I like how smooth the transition is from normal to gruesome. I also recognize the moon one from the movie Hugo.
I like how you pointed out that you don’t need to a story for a flip book, simple morphs are good enough.
It’d be really cool to win one of the principles of animation flip books, it’d make for really good reference.

@@MOVEDCHANNELSS yeah actually I replied to that and chatted to it. was a very weird conversation - quite sure it was a bot designed to get more personal details out of people. also there were more than 10 giveaways promised by that account + it was less than 2 weeks (almost the day after) that he picked the winners which is contrary to what andy said he would do.
also, your account is very suspicious in itself Harley. I'm writing this so that the other people can read it and make an informed decision themselves. you, on the other hand, might be in cahoots with them idk.

I never knew such a channel exists or there are flip book enthusiasts, I made one myself when i was bored in a maths class i think like 1997ish i started it and couldnt get it out of my head until i finished it a few days later. Was just a ball bouncing around the edges of the page but I remember my mates were impressed haha

That's a pretty fantastic haul. I really like the 12 principles of animation set .. I've been utilizing some of the gifs that are out there to explore those same fundamentals. It's fun (and challenging) to try and animate stuff in Aseprite (pixel art editor) .. I think these would really come in handy. As always, thanks for sharing. Hi Andy! I have been watching you for almost a year now, and I love the things that you do, and the flip books that you make. I have actually got a flip book kit for myself, and really love making flip books! I showed my flip books to my class once, and they went crazy... they really liked it.

Hey Andy, I read a comment on another video of yours where someone could not believe that you remembered making a flip book so many years ago. I wondered how can one ever forget about it! I used to make stop motion videos out of polymer clay, it might seem like a little thing, but there is some magic about it and the pride in creating something new yourself, a real enjoyable moment... Thanks for sharing all these different flipbooks, it would be great to give it a go myself sometime...

Always nice to see you come up on my notifications. (just thought to mention because of the last flipbook you showed) I am doing a project for science at this moment and I got to choose Zoetropes so me and my partner (a really good artist herself) have combined forces to make the best zoetropes hoping to get others interested and its been cool researching all the history of this form of early animation and science behind zoetropes. Great flipbooks! I'd love to win one of the 12 Principles of Animation flipbooks! I love animation - in particular stop motion! - so I am of course familiar with the 12, and love how they are applicable to filmmaking as a whole!

These flipbooks were amazing. I have always considered flipbooks to be just drawing but to see the use of photographs was great. Yes I would like to enter the contest. Andy, keep up what you are doing, excellent as always.
It is so great that they included Alice Guy Blanche! Some of the pioneering films were directed by women but the men they worked under would get the credit for them. For example, D.W. Griffith is credited for inventing much of our modern cinematic language but he has women directors working under him who were inventing that stuff and he got the credit!

The silhouette flip book from the pioneers set is super cool! These fathers of animation always remind me that as an animator I always have more to learn about the craft.
I would love to win one of the principals of animation sets because I love the the whole idea behind them. First of all, the 6 in 1 design is super cool, but secondly I love the way they teach you about animation. It really reminds me of Disney’s “The Illusion of Life” and the Dreamworks Animation book.
I would love to get your starter kit.
I also think that what you do is very important as flipbooks are basically a gateway to animation, totally accessible to almost all ages. The mechanism is so simple that everyone can create a moving pictures of their own with no special tools needed (I still would love one of your kits though :o)

Hi Andy, I just found your channel and I am really enjoying all of this flip art. I made an attempt years ago at making a flip book. Then as an adult I found some neat ones in a cool shop in new york. I bought a bunch and gave them as little gifts from my trip. lol I guess I have always been a fan but I am thinking I should give making a flip book a try again they are fascinating :)
I have been watching your videos for years. I love animation, wish I could make my own flip books.
One thing that keeps me coming back to flipbooks is how the limited amount of paper forces you to think outside the box, it’s so cool how people manage to create a whole story with only post it notes & make it in a way that you can still understand. And the language for making flipbooks are universal too, you don’t need to know another language to understand someone’s little booklet but the ideas inside can be interpreted is so many different ways but everyone can understand it. Thanks for giving this small section of RUclips a pedestal to be on, you’ve inspired so many!! The only reason why I’ve started animating at all was because of your videos. I remember coming across one of them when you had just reached 700k, and while I had tried making a Flipbook beforehand this opened a whole new world to me. Thank you for what you do, and even If I (probably) don’t get into the giveaway, I think this will still serve as a love letter to one of the best content creators on the platform. :D

I love the old sequential photos. I used to draw horses along the bottom edge of my textbooks that would run, jump, fall, and recover, and one of these days I'm going to try my hand at making a flip book. If I were to win the flip book kit, the timeline might be compressed
