It's funny to see that band rehearsals are no different whether you're a multi-million dollar selling legendary band, or a two-bit local garage band. Watching this brought back memories of my old band.
Chris wacking the mic, and cease playing, after staying up all night, on an already botched live satellite event is one of the funniest things I can think of. Based in the footage, Wakeman is being dead serious about Chris. The vocals on the outro footage are some of the best they ever did on that song.
I've listened to Yes since the 70's and appreciated their music. I had no idea that Rick Wakeman had this wicked sense of humor. Its my favorite type of humor- dry, sarcastic, and witty! I like him even more now.
Seattle ! I saw YES so many times. From '75 (countless times in Seattle Coliseum)...to the 2005... the Moore Theater. Chris drank me with many times, and I said a joke to him. Never you mind. ;-)
Frankly, none of this "afterwards" stuff really matters.....those of us who saw and heard this MAGNIFICENT'BAND live in the glory years, know full well they sounded and matched the greatness of their recorded material routinely. It was, "chills up your spine good"!! Trust this (musician) fan of theirs...they were absolutely terrific !
I know now Ricks piece was great humor, and I love his videos. But this was the first one I saw....(and laughed and enjoyed like crazy once I saw the whole series of pieces)...So I (over) reacted initially, and instinctively, because I respect "Yes" so much...See ?....life is good when we fully understand....
Wonderful video with hilarious Wakeman narration. From watching early videos when Rick had pimples to him calling them old farts. Always impeccable musicianship. Just Great!
Priceless intimate view into one of my favorite bands. Wakeman makes it so real and enjoyable with his humor. They all contributed equally in their own way.
Wow ! These guys always resonate; aye ? Wakeman should team up with Morgan Freeman for a short film ' The elation of dueling narration and some other stuff '.
Interesting stuff, fab playing and funny voiceover by Rick (we have only been playing this for 34 years!). Jon seems to be a calming influence on everyone. Rick was based here in High Wycombe many years ago and had 7 companies associated with music as I recall.
I would have never dreamed of a Yes rehearsal being like this...this is probably more for the benefit of the sound, lighting and video crews...they were definitely all business live...wouldn't have mind seeing the real rehearsal though
I miss Yes terribly.... 'Course, I miss everyone from Joe Strummer to George Harrison. The Who to Gang of Four. Rock music has been removed from our shared experience and replaced by corporate consumer culture fluff. How sad.
Anyone else besides me notice how strangely funny the closing 4 minute sequence is? Those selected shots are so random and awkward! You'd never select those cuts, or edit them in that way. Bravo!
Yes, let's play bingo, then take all of our clothes off! Now let's see, who's the little lady down there who won the door prize...Ah, yes, the little lady down there, in the first row! Come on down!
Chris just seemed over the whole thing . Means to make money , and really how many times can you play these songs over and over. For us the audience, we are in love, we see our heroes, and at a certain point it's nostalgic for your teens when you saw them like in 1980. But for them , man, I would probably be a bit cranky , late and lazy as well. To each his own .
Just what is the status of Jon Anderson and Yes? The way the news was when he was sick was that he'd never be able to sing again and that he was having serious problems at getting a breath. Maybe this was before Jon was replaced. I mean he performed at the RRHofFame. I just haven't been able to make sense of Yes since Big Generator, which was the last album of theirs that I listened to. I own several newer ones but I haven't listened to them yet.
I saw Jon twice last Summer on his 1000 Hands tour. He was in great voice, and doesn't appear to have lost a step or a note. I think he very much wants to reunite the whole band, but Steve Howe seems deadset against it.
This doesn't look to long ago, so why did they decide to dump Jon Anderson ?, I thought his voice sounded like it always did, I hear they complained it was getting weak.
+Solid State They dumped him because they had a tour planned and he started to become ill. They didn't want to stop it so they replaced him. I know this because I ordered tickets to a concert they were going to be at but later it was scraped. :(
I tell you what, I'm glad I'm not actually paying money to watch this on a DVD or in a theater somewhere. If I paid money to see this...I'd be pretty pissed off!
Watching again in 2024! R.I.P Chris Squire and Alan White ❤
Yes, it is difficult. After all we have only been playing this piece for 34 years. Love it!
Lmao. That was a good one!!
"Dont do that Steve , its a family video "
hilarious! "We've only been playing this piece for 34 years..."
"Obviously, it is difficult because we've only been playing this piece for 34 years."
lol
Dust-dry British wit. Wakeman could read the supermarket ads and still sound funny.
It's funny to see that band rehearsals are no different whether you're a multi-million dollar selling legendary band, or a two-bit local garage band. Watching this brought back memories of my old band.
Rick is too funny! His Rock & Roll Hall of Fame speech is a classic. :-)
loved this . the fact they can parody themselves is a breath of fresh air. Who said prog was pretentious. Idiots. good job rick!!!!
If I was worth $30 mil, I'd be happy to denigrate myself in public all day long.
@@mzmadmike you seem to be doing it for free
@@martinreed5964
Jon Anderson is a trip in this!
85% of the audience that walked in, did so, unaided! LMMFAO!!
how did rick not get a gig in monty python?
Rick is a funny dude. I love this.
So nice to see my heros are ...human.
I had no idea Rick Wakeman had such wit. His dry humour and delivery is brilliant.
Wakeman is a genious!

It is true YES is Spinal Tap. Love it, they still are and will always be my favorite band.
We’ve only been playing this piece for 34 years

Rick sounds like he's emceeing a golf tournament. Very effective!
Golf clap...
Seattle !
I saw YES so many times.
From '75 (countless times in Seattle Coliseum)...to the 2005... the Moore Theater. Chris drank me with many times, and I said a joke to him. Never you mind. ;-)
"...85% of today's audience walked in... un-aided." Brilliant.
The greatest show on earth Yes, made hilarious by Rick Wakeman
I want him to do commentary on all my films.
+Julius Gonzo It's a joke? Humor? Laughing yet?
I know now Ricks piece was great humor, and I love his videos. But this was the first one I saw....(and laughed and enjoyed like crazy once I saw the whole series of pieces)...So I (over) reacted initially, and
instinctively, because I respect "Yes" so much...See ?....life is good when we fully understand....
That's cool... and... after 30 years of going to well over 50 concerts put on by YES, I can appreciate the music too.
"So all the Deaf people that went....thoroughly enjoyed it." Haaaaaa!
totally fell off my chair.
Surely, he meant, "aurally impaired."
Wonderful video with hilarious Wakeman narration. From watching early videos when Rick had pimples to him calling them old farts. Always impeccable musicianship. Just Great!
Great to see the live footage with Chris!
muchly missed.
It is difficult because we’ve been playing this song for 34 years. I’m dying hahaha
Hahaha! Don't do that Steve, it's a family video! lmao!
Thank you for the soundtrack YES:)
I thought my band rehearsals were a mess.
Beautiful voices, Jon and Chris ❤
I was mesmerized watching Rick play. would of liked to have seen journey to the center of the earth in the USA reunited.
Thank you very much Rick for this Wonder Story!!! Im very hope Yes make new great album again
Thank you, Rick is one funny guy!
Priceless intimate view into one of my favorite bands. Wakeman makes it so real and enjoyable with his humor. They all contributed equally in their own way.
Wakeman... the ultimate color man...
Indeed! XD
Awesome! I love them so much!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow ! These guys always resonate; aye ? Wakeman should team up with Morgan Freeman for a short film ' The elation of dueling narration and some other stuff '.
As Father Ted would say, "Just play the fecking note!"
When they played this at the then Tower Records in Sherman Oaks(now a fitness center) Chris also hit his mic several times with his acoustic bass.
Wow 🤩
I LOVE Wakeman. Sick person. Great talent. LMAO.
Interesting stuff, fab playing and funny voiceover by Rick (we have only been playing this for 34 years!). Jon seems to be a calming influence on everyone.
Rick was based here in High Wycombe many years ago and had 7 companies associated with music as I recall.
Rick doing his best Viv Stanshall impression..
Rick Wakeman est absolument délicieux d'humour!
So fun to watch them in a light hearted moment...they are so entertaining. I could just watch a rehearsal and I'd be overjoyed.
If we weren't all crazy we'd all go insane. Loved this band long time
I went and saw this with my old boss after I quit working selling stereo gear. Ended up being my retirement beginning. It was an interesting show.
HA!! Rick is so funny. Love his articles in Prog magazine.
This is great. Thanks for posting. Very funny.
How lucky these folks in the audience . Wakeman was touring on a rambling lecture tour in 2019 , listened to him live and thought about what was.
Please, Give Peace a Chance.
I would have never dreamed of a Yes rehearsal being like this...this is probably more for the benefit of the sound, lighting and video crews...they were definitely all business live...wouldn't have mind seeing the real rehearsal though
ahahah Rick and Jon..... love love love....
Fabulous - I aspire to play at the Batley Variety club :D
2004 - somewhere in the middle of their reunion/35th anniversary tour.
Some of these songs from yes are so simple and yet so complex that make me love them.I don't know if you understand me,but that's how I feel.
Rick is always harlarious!
"we've only been playing this piece for 34 years"
I think that's my favorite version of ISAGP!
Wakeman.....HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
Preparation for the lounge act, inevitable. Yours is our disgrace... Watching this truly warmed my heart. Thanks for posting this.
3:35 don't do that steve! 😂😂😂😂
... it's a family show.
7:05 and on is a hoot !
That's Jon Stewart on the right ! At 9:55.
'could watch hours of this.
Gotta love Wakeman's dry English humor... Never say no to Yes!
I miss Yes terribly.... 'Course, I miss everyone from Joe Strummer to George Harrison. The Who to Gang of Four. Rock music has been removed from our shared experience and replaced by corporate consumer culture fluff. How sad.
Great taste in all those guys
Anyone else besides me notice how strangely funny the closing 4 minute sequence is? Those selected shots are so random and awkward! You'd never select those cuts, or edit them in that way. Bravo!
LOL love this!
Marilyn Bettencourt I
Thank you!!!
pretty darn funny..
Rick Wakeman-"Obviously it's hard, when you've only been playing it for 34 years".
Rick was the only one who had that Rock n Roll attitude!😂
Don't do that steve, its a family video... lol class
I hear Rick Wakeman is also a pretty good musician
The Guy on the Piano looks exactly like him....😅😅
5 Gods of the Music.
Jon doing his Norman Vaughan impression at t’beginning there
No surprises here. Amazing talent realized ...
What do you call a drummer without a girlfriend? Homeless!
Rick Wakeman
Was there a competition as to who could pull the worst face!?
Yes, let's play bingo, then take all of our clothes off! Now let's see, who's the little lady down there who won the door prize...Ah, yes, the little lady down there, in the first row! Come on down!
Ah levity
Rick...HA! Never lets you down. XD

I am the aging ass and yes, ...................
It is still unknown in my expectations but still wished and desired to be good for the world.
:)

Hysterical is right - I had no idea Rick was so funny :)
what's the timeframe on when this was recorded please?
Life happens :)
LOL
Jon, Alan, Chris, and Steve told me not to visit the local sleezy strip club because I won't like what I see there. I saw Rick Wakeman.
love the humor .....
Rick Dangerfield-Wakeman.
Long Distance to Runaround this song!
:D
So ridiculously funny...
crying and laughing >.
Jon is so awkward when he speaks. lol
I think he was trying to hide his anger after Chris whacked the mic. Supposedly he was pretty controlling behind the scenes.
Gawd he's funny......
I didn't know Chris Squire was Eric Wareheim
This doesn't look to long ago, so why did they decide to dump Jon Anderson ?, I thought his voice sounded like it always did, I hear they complained it was getting weak.
Eleven years ago
+Solid State They dumped him because they had a tour planned and he started to become ill. They didn't want to stop it so they replaced him. I know this because I ordered tickets to a concert they were going to be at but later it was scraped. :(
Wakeman!
The mic is less likely to break if you don't fucking hammer on it.
I tell you what, I'm glad I'm not actually paying money to watch this on a DVD or in a theater somewhere. If I paid money to see this...I'd be pretty pissed off!
