and audio technology for over 30 years, and is co-inventor of 17 US patents. He is also a former studio musician, having recorded with artists such as Chicago, Chaka Khan, Christopher Cross, and Barbra Streisand. Marcus will be ex- ploring the energy of music and sound.

Marcus Ryle programmed the first Alesis drum machine, the HR16, in the 1980's. By "programmed," I mean he wrote the firmware that drove the gadget to output and sequence percussion sounds. I know this because I was the person who sampled the real drum sounds for the HR16, and who modified the digital numbers to squeeze 16-bit recordings into 8-bit storage with negligible loss. Marcus went on to help design many other Alesis products under Keith Barr, the technical genius behind Alesis.

The Line 6 is making the future for guitar players, there's no need to have 3 guitars, 2 or 3 amps and 20 pedals anymore.
With a Variax guitar + POD HD500 + DT amp you can have much more. I must admit it's not 100% yet, but It's just a matter of time, you can do much more with a digital signal.

@devieverfx no -- IK Multimedia is the one who uses the real brand names - Line 6 used clever names like "Treadplate" instead of using "Dual Rectifier". In that sense, I think IK was very smart, because they licensed all those names from the manufacturers. But the first unit that changed the world was the bean POD 1.0 -- yes, BOSS had COSM, but very few people liked that. The POD 1.0 was instantly adopted by nearly every studio in the world, and MANY guitarists had their first experience with it
