I was there cheering you on and living vicariously when you made your first RUclips video with the rainbow unicorn. I can't believe how quickly these years have flown by - maybe not for you struggling through the hard work towards success and finding your authentic self and meeting and building a life with Andres - but now, after all the frustrations and tears, this! How amazing. Dr. Cervini may have his PhD, but you have done no less in tears, sweat, and blood to get here.
Listened to the podcast on Spotify... Excellent. I'm a 71 year young rainbow warrior and lived through a lot of which you and Dr. Cervini discussed. Starting with volunteering with the L.A. Free Clinic dispensing antibiotics to Queer men for STD's to working with Project Angel Food and the 1st Christopher Street West Gay Pride Parade. Marched in the first Gay March on Washington in the early '80s, ACT UP, No On 8, the Anita Bryant Florida Campaign, and organizing The AIDS Quilts on the National Mall. Our community has come so far, yet still have so much further to go. Intelligent, precise questioning, with inciteful follow up with questions to clarify or elaborate on the topic at hand...👍🌈❤️🌈❤️
OMG MAX, I didn't know you have a channel! Then I saw this and all I see are two of my favorite hot guys then I heard "virgin"- and I'm like, YES, you guys will be my first time haha! I enjoyed this interview, and I would love to see more. Congratulations!
As a European it's nice to know the history of queer America. I do have the feeling that we are much further ahead here (Europe). Greetings from Belgium. J'aime l'histoire in French yes i do speak also French and Dutch
Welcome back, Max and I can't believe you're talking to Dr. Eric Cervini on this video about Queer American history, gay villains, the history of pride parades including representation, thanks to your boyfriend, Andres!! ❤❤❤
bravo. This is needed and I would have loved something like this in the 1970s. I can't believe you found the only Harvard grad with a Cambridge Ph.D. that is both handsome and has abs. All of Max's friends have abs.
I'm in the Uk and have no idea who these two men are, but both irritating that they done seem to want yo be queer, which is yet another meaningless umbrella term.
@@vicdownunder458 actually, I'm Gen X. I'm one of the gay men who came out, spoke to psychology classes at my college, marched on Washington, and voted. Gay rights didn't just happen, we fought for them by putting ourselves at risk. Only young people who don't understand what it's like to be fag-bashed think it's fun and great to be called a queer. The label queer alienates gay men of a certain age, and it confuses straight people we need to be our allies. Why? Just because young "queers" love to be called queer. Pick another label before you destroy the movement.
What a repulsive (insular white boomer gay) mindset. There's no zero sum game here. Promoting the entire queer community does not mean the gay segment of that community gets denigrated. Such an intellectually lazy, childish idea.
Wow brilliant Max.Been missing your stuff.
Fantastic interview! Thank you for featuring Dr. Cervini. I really wish there had been a season 2 of "The Book of Queer."

Puerta Vallarta as a favorite beach - a foreign setting where middle class Americans can go to hang out with other middle class Americans.

geezus, must everything be reduced to this superficial nonsense?
Hopefully the book club is going better, i knew there were some scandals going on.

I love you Dr. Eric, but wear clean socks! 49:12
Is that couch comfortable??
J’aime l’histoire was correct.
Queer history…! Yay…!
Gay, not queer
Yes, endless use of the term Queer! Who are you actually talking about?
Bottoms
If you want to promote gay wellbeing, stop calling everything queer.
