Replace drugs with just selfish narcissism and that describes my and my sister's childhood. She eventually abandon us when I was 8 because she didn't want to pay child support. My father abandoned me 4 years later. I'll never be able to put in words how it affected my life from then on quite like NF does in the "30 years" part of "Hope." The silver lining is that my children know I love them, they'll never have to question it, and I now understand the "mother's love" I always heard about growing up.
Sorry for the short story and thanks for doing this reaction. This song is painful but validating and I only watch reactions to it so I don't have to cry alone.

“Mama” off his newest album Hope is the equivalent of Eminem’s “Headlights” in that time has gone by and you get to see the personal growth and perspective shift through the anger and pain, into a place of greater maturity, healing and understanding.

True, but two things. This song needed to happen for him to start healing. Secondly this song hit the emotions so hard mama doesn't hold a candle to it. Not as much emotion not as much feel. I'm glad he did this song. It guided him. He needed to let this out. But this was way better than Mama from a song standpoint. Leaps and bounds better.

Ooooh that's a heavy one to start with for sure!
NF has this thing called "The Journey" , there is a certain order of songs that if you follow them in order you can better get a grasp of his life story and his songs start referencing each other.
1st song is "Mansion" , you can just google "NF the journey playlist" and you will see.
For this song I can say that NF is a father now and just like Eminem eventually forgave his mom NF has too and he has mentioned that in a newer song of his.
NF is one of the few artists where I listen to a full album after full album and fail to find a song I don't like.

Well, you definitely started with NF's saddest song. This one almost always makes me cry - and I've heard it many times. Mama is kind of a part 2 to this song. NF gives his current perspective on his mother and it shows how he has done more coping and maturing with the matter.
This is a true story. NF had a 3rd verse written, but he was so emotional that he couldn't get through it while recording this in the studio. Instead, we hear his true feelings coming out as he's just talking at the end.

My nf friend! Well miss Freya when I made the suggestion on your EM video that you should check out NF and his song HOPE cause I thought that be a great introduction for you, and surprisingly seen this let me just say that I couldn’t stop laughing 😁😁 not because of the content , but my mind went back to my first reaction of this. Which was why in the FU🤬🤬 would anyone listen to this song twice ?? Or for that matter any other song from this guy? I was destroyed after this song, felt like I was 7 and sit down to watch old yeller and the fox and the hound for the first time 😁 but since you started here ma’am you might as well finish this story and follow it up with his song MAMA for closure! I hope that you will continue exploring NF , because I know you may get some backlash and I don’t understand why people compare artists instead of embracing the individual for who they are in the telling of their story. I believe EM is the best rapper of all time but I also know the artist he drew inspiration from before him in order to create the art he did ,and NF is MY favorite rapper of course drawing that same inspiration from EM and everyone before him. My favorite thing about NF is he hits my soul and I can play any song of his while making dinner in front of my 2 children and they’ll never hear one swear word or anything degrading women or anything about drugs. Although they will encounter that in everyday life unfortunately they won’t see their Dad dancing to that message when they come home! Prediction: there will be tears. Ok, don't go too far into NF... wait on an NF expert, there really is an order for everything to tie together. It's more like a saga than a single concept album and things won't make sense out of order. If you're dead set on wanting to hear more from him soon... you can check out "Story" and if I'm not mistaken "Mansion" is pretty much the beginning of The Journey... though this song, I don't think order matters either. There's a few more, but I'm not that mega-fan... one will come along though! I haven't done the full Journey, probably only 7-8 songs, he's good though and his music videos are important so if you like it, I'd suggest watching the official vids after any lyric ones.

I dont understand the hate Nate gets because his music is solely his life just like the majority of Em's music. Only difference is Nate doesnt cuss. So what? Some people choose not to cuss some people cuss every other word. It's a personal choice.
But hating on someones music whos clearly very very successful is just something that i cannot wrap my mind around. If its something you dont like, then dont watch/listen. Youre not obligated to, so why even bother clicking on a video to comment negativity? I dont bother even wasting my time or energy to go outta my way to spread negativity oon someones music that isnt my taste. I just dont understand people's intentions to purposely spread negativity.
Skip the video if its not an artist youre into. Its so simple. Show the artist you enjoy the love & respect but dont bring more negativity into this dark world but putting down another artist just bc theyre not ur taste.
The world already has plenty of negativity & hate thats outta our control so if its something u can control, then why purposely spread out more of that darkness? Put light & love out instead.
