  • Treasurer Jim Chalmers has emphasized that China's sustained economic growth is vital to Australia's interests, as the world's second-largest economy grapples with a real estate crisis and declining consumer confidence.
In Beijing, Mr. Chalmers is co-chairing the first Australia-China Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED) in seven years, alongside Zheng Shanjie, head of China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).
During his two-day visit, the treasurer aims to gain deeper insights into China's economic challenges and assess how these issues could impact Australia's economy, given the importance of China as its largest trading partner.
