  • In this video, I review the Jomise K7 Dash Cam. The K7 has many interesting features, and the build quality and video resolution are good. However, it also has quite a few drawbacks, mostly to do with the software app and getting the files to playback on laptops or PCs.
Disclaimer: The Jomise K7 dashcam review sample was provided to me free of charge. However, I'm not affiliated with jomise, nor was I monetarily compensated for the review. - Ray
Akaso Trace 1 Pro Dash Cam Review - www.loveyourrv...
In the video, I show the installation of the Jomise K7, then demo it in action on cloudy and sunny days and at night. I also show comparison footage at the same time from my own Akaso Trace 1 Pro dashcam.
The most unique thing about the K7 is its green light and car in front moving forward alerts. So, I give you some real-world footage of that on the action.
Overall, good performance and features but needs some work. If the app software, usability, and support could be refined, this could be a fairly decent little dashcam. But at this time, especially considering it costs $199, I can't give it a thumbs up. Below are my detailed likes and dislikes with the product:
    Pros:
    - Simple design with one USB cord to hook up
    - GPS receiver built into the dashcam
    - Solid feel to the plastics
    - 1600P video resolution
    - Decent performance in low light
    - Small form factor
    - Interesting traffic warning features
    - Touch screen is responsive
    - Can do 60 FPS @ 1080P
    Cons:
    - Poor sound pickup inside the vehicle
    - Windshield mounting via a stick-on pad
    - Video files difficult to playback on my computers
    - Had to use a QR code to activate
    - App seems clunky to use and incomplete
    - 4G cell functions mentioned but not available
    - App froze my phone once
    - Instruction manual too small of text
    - Greenlight alert works about 80 - 90% of the time
    - Unknown brand name to me
    - Support appears to be only via email
    - Highly-priced

Hey Ray, very good video and honest review of the dash cam. I agree with you, design looks nice but the software needs big time polishing.

Not having a dash cam I don’t have a baseline to compare. I like the picture much better as it didn’t seem to fish eye like the Akaso. As far as the software, sound and other things you gigged I agree, also agree that QR code screen is annoying.
    Another great review Ray.

Cheers to you as well ! I got a $30 dollar traffic camera cube for Christmas and it seems to work better than the JoJo Bean .

Hi again Ray, are you braising for the two storms coming up ? BC is warning of power outages. Hope you and your wife are fine. Take care and thanks for your videos.

Yep, big winds and rain! suited up and went for a little walk in it then took a drive to storm watch, now cozy in the rig with a cup of tea. :) I took some video footage I'll throw together on a day or so. Cheers, Ray

Hi Ray, there are so many dash cams to choose from and I enjoy all your reviews. I have one question, what ever became of the Haloview RD10 wifi mirror cam ypu did last year? I sure would like to buy it from you if I can as I felt it was the best so far.

Having to go past the QR code in the menu every time seems really obnoxious. It's a feature that really should only be needed once, having it as the second swipe-menu item, is pointless and forces an extra swipe every time.
Does it have ND filters? To keep the shutter speed to a correct double the frame rate for smooth motion.

No ND filters but has a WDR wide dynamic range feature to deal with difficult lighting conditions, does a pretty good job, but does blow out some of the highlights on bright days and suffers a loss of details in the dark. But considering the small size of the lens works surprisingly well.

What about transfering the files from the camera to the PC via micro usb/usb cord? That's how my $15 walmart one works 😁, otherwise my old eyes would never see the video on the display.

Thanks for the tip, I'll giver it a try, may work, but since the dashcam glues to the windshield its a little cumbersome. All my other backup cams and dashcam can play the files right off the micro SD. I did find a codec pack to download to made it work, but many people aren't very tech savvy to figure things out. ;) Cheers, Ray

@@LoveYourRV let me know if it works. I'd just take your laptop to the truck (if not raining), that way you don't have to take it down from the windshield.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  3 года назад

Gave it a try but all that happened was the dash cam just powered up but no way to transfer video files.

you going to raffle it 😉?

Not sure, since it is so small and uses hardly any power I may keep it to use as a truck bed security or wildlife camera. Has pretty good resolution.
