The Move was an amazingly tight and energetic live band. "I Can Hear the Grass Grow" is about as great as power pop can get. I can hear it 100 times straight and not get tired of it.
Love the Moby Grape cover. It seems from what Robert Plant said was that West Coast bands were big in Birmingham during that era. Funny how Carl Wayne talks about London being cooler- I always thought Birmingham put out pound for pound better music than London.
Great stuff. Something major shifted in guitar approach between 1964 and 1967. Only 3 years but poor old Hank must have felt washed up after helping lead the way

yes, me too. this version is especially up-tempo and brings out the excitement of the band.

It never ceases to amuse me just how different Roy looked without all the hair and beard ...
Grown up now.
Wow! A Moby Grape song! One of the coolest British bands playing a song by one of the coolest West Coast band.
Hey Grandma is on the first Move album.
Always were a great band thanks
That's not a pub, that's the Marquee Club in London when it still had the circus awning over the stage!
I Can Hear the Grass Grow has one of the coolest bass lines ever!

Jesus Christ they were tight af I can hear the grass grow sounds borderline metal here
The last bit wasn't in England if the announcement is anything to go by. Pity it cut out so soon.
Brilliant

I think Roy grew his beard because he got a lot of shaving rashes at the time
Saw elo and wizzard 1972 nowhere as tight as this live sound .

Fab Band Roy Wood genius.
Its that "k" from kaleidoscope??
They were just five mates, really
They weren’t really friends they just got together to form a band
