I watched most of your video and the single most impactful take away that has improved my game is lining up the shot and taking one stroke only. I'm not sure why but it has helped me stay down on the shot with good follow through. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for that tip. I was never taught stroking more than once hurting my chances of pocketing balls. I will use this method for sure in my next league night.
Hi there! This is just a training method, so you should not play like this in a league match or so. As mentioned in the video, its for your development process only to help you realize and align your aiming, stance and stroke delivery. Of course you should and are allowed to do as many pre-strokes as you prefer during actual matches
I love Mike. And, I am so jealous that you got to have Jasmine as an instructor. She is my favorite RUclips personality. Seems like someone you would want to shoot a few racks with (even though she would clean your clock), have a couple of liters of Pilsner with hear all the fascinating stories about her life.
Hi Steven! Thanks so much for the kind feedback! I am lucky indeed to be surrounded by so many cool and so much better players than me! Striving to be as good as them and learning from better players in general is key I guess. I learned, to not be shy playing against better ones, and losing often. Because eventually one will scrub off some knowledge and skills here and there. Enjoy your Pool
Both players and this exercise are great! One thing I noticed Mike does, because I have and still work on this same problem. Just as he is about to shoot his head moves up a little bit and sometimes his body moves up as well. I've found it helps to make sure my face is tilted up when I first get down on the shot so there is no urge to move on the final backstroke.
Cool you noticed this! Mike changed something on his strokes some time ago, before this, he never lifted his head! Now he does. He is aware of it, and is working on it. We left it on purpose in the video, and great you found it
I do a variation of this....I bring the cue to the end of the back stroke while standing.....so when you bend over the shot the cue is all ready at the "pause"....once the bridge hand hits the table to shoot......no adjustments can be made :)....thanks for making the video...its very well done
I used to pull the cue back like a bow string, then bam! No feathering. I see some guys play, and I think wayyy too many practise strokes. I'll be back to this tomorrow. Cheers guys.
Great it works for you! At the end, as mentioned, all comes together; the pre-shot routine, the aiming, the stance the execution, the stroke, etc. Play on!
@@PoolProblems In this case yes, to avoid overthinking and to just go for it. It was quite challenging, but it revealed or reveals very quickly if your pre-shot routine fundamentals are solid. Especially, if you walk into the shot and go down fast(er).
Mike is one serious SOB. 😅 I love it. Good video! My 2 cents is: don’t swing into the shot line from left to right. Mike did it in the first shot of the 9 ball game. Step into the shot line with your chin leading the way. You’re both better than I am. I just watch a lot of pool.
Tried it today BUT had to give up quite quickly as it developed wrist pain in the hand holding the butt. My probing strikes seem to relax my wrist enough to make a proper shot with proper follow through. But for younger guys I am sure it can do miracles :)
I would buy into this, except for the fact that Efren Reyes has a pre stroking pattern that he seems to always follow. I can definitely agree don't adjust your cue angle or body stance left to right after getting down on a shot
@@pocketedyoutube I really enjoy your vids. I am too a Cuetec boy! Just brought a Turewood 2 and am having to adjust to the position of the wrap. Taking longer than unwound like but I'll get there. Cynergy shaft is the best by a long way

Hi! Thanks for the kind feedback!
I was doing this drill last night and it's insane on the positive it has on your game 👍
Wow! Great to hear - you gotta thank Jasmin Ouschan though!! She taught it to me

Excellent video! Learned a lot I am going to practice this method in my pre shot routine This pre shot drill makes sense to me Thanks!
Probably the most important thing on pool, the stance and right alignment before getting down. Workink hard on this. Great vídeo.
Thanks a lot Helder!!
Great video guys, thank you for sharing, I will work on this.
3:20. This is perhaps the most valuable thing to take away from this video.
Loved it!
Ahhh thanks so much for the kind feedback

Awesome, thanks for the feedback!
Works for pool but not Snooker
@@the_alchemy_method Pretty certain
I quit doing pre stokes. It helped my game allot.
Loved the scotch example at the end!
Thanks a lot!
Awesome video you guys nailed it. Can you do a video on how to play pool left-hand
Thanks Joe! Yep, left hand play video will be produced. Not sure when it will be released though
@pocketed! The Pool Billiard Channel hi do you know when you can do a video on how to play left-hand
Class played, have a nice weekend and best greetings Heiko 👍😀
Hello! Means a lot, thank you!

such a great video. i think every serious player should try this. if they have not already.
Thanks a lot for your feedback!! Really appreciate it!
@@pocketedyoutube i appreciate your videos. I shared them to my pool buddies hopefully they find it helpful as well.

I think I will!!!
This is something I've used a lot too. Great advice.
Awesome!
@@pocketedyoutube on the old footage, were you instructed to go down on the shot that fast?

Yep! Good one .
I did same drill with Mark Wilson. Also you can close your eyes and shoot , that way your pre shot routine is perfect.
Great feedback!! Thanks for sharing
Very good advise 👌 Thanks

Never give up!
Is there any way to see or understand what english to use when or is it just trial and error.
There are many videos on RUclips regarding this topic. Anny specifics you are interested in? Maybe I can put up a useful one for you
I would buy into this, except for the fact that Efren Reyes has a pre stroking pattern that he seems to always follow. I can definitely agree don't adjust your cue angle or body stance left to right after getting down on a shot
I can relate to this, and I agree as well
Nice
🤗
I’ll try this, but I don’t see how this would improve one’s stroke.
Great! Not the stroke, the pre-shot routine and that your „body aiming“ is in line with the shot
It is not a stroke drill. It is a pre-shot and alignment drill.
thanks
You are welcome!
I notice your partner has some movement with his head when he starts his follow thru. Doesn't seem to affect his shots.
Yep, he knows, and works on it, despite shooting straight like a hunter! But thanks for noticing and letting me know!!
6:00 MIke's elbow looks like it was very out of alignment (chicken wing).
Thx for the observation!! Will let him know!
He may have a chicken wing but his accuracy is spot on
This is great guys well done. But Theres one critical missing step you missed out that can get your potting on steroids... 🤔 ❓
We know… step by step buddy! Otherwise it might be too much at once I guess
What's that ?
@@pocketedyoutube do u know what the missing step is? 😅
His head and body moves up as he hits the ball. Not much! But you could also say far to much!!
