Let’s hear some love for Keith, our in-house sharpening expert! He is taking over the Ship Shape Sharpening Shop and has never been in front of a camera before. Welcome to RUclips, Keith!
@@stephenmartin7907 i used to work at a hardware store as the head plumbing associated, I couldn't tell you what brand, we didn't carry Milwaukee but the Kobalt ones looked pretty similar
That piece of metal that was found is the cutting blade to a pvc pipe cutter. Back of the blade, the stairs, are for the ratchet mechanics of the tool. Really awesome tool to have when cuting pvc pipe, works great clean cuts and power 🔋 free Great episode!💚
my friends and I used to go camping for years pre- and during covid, now we all work 2-3 jobs to stay comfortable and haven't gone in well over a year. it would be silly to say everyone has our struggle, but I know hobbies and vacations with financial barriers of entry (i.e. camping, backpacking, etc.) have taken a hit because of how many people are in situations like us
The "weird" blade is from a ratcheting PVC cutter. I've been a electrician for 20 years and use them all the time. Plumbers use them also even more so. Great job knafs crew on the killer products!
As soon as I get enough funds together, I will be purchasing one of your Lander 2's with green micarta scales, and I will be also purchasing some of your brook trout scales as well. In a small way, by purchasing these items, it will help to support your company. I wish you all the best in your endeavors! Greetings from Lebanon Oregon.
I've really enjoyed Dan Becker's content for a while. His work with the Sawyer water filter company is especially worth checking out. It's cool to see the overlap between backpacking and knives. Great video as always.
You've made two of your folders (Lander and Baby Banter) into fixed blades now. If you were to make one of the Lulu's into a folder, how different would the handle/grip be and what lock would it use?
You are ABSOLUTELY 1000% a knife celebrity....... at least to me you are... if i ever saw you like "out in the wild" i would ABSOLUTELY come up and start talking to you.....i remember the old days of showing us cool knives in that dark dewery basement before bhq made a cool studio space...... your def a celebrity in the knife world
The Steel on my vero neuron was like a collab between Metal and Butter, idk if the heat treat was botched or what but holy hell.. my buddy dropped it and the way the blades apex deformed was astonishing. Also, i know im a nobody, but i'd love to get a chance to look at anything you've put out these last few years
Thanks for the shout out about my Lander 1 Karambit print. I wore a necklace with a quarter coin that someone had drilled a hole in during track season to be edgy. (it’s illegal to deface currency, right?) And I was inspired by a scene in Chariots of Fire to run with a necklace.
Maybe it was a Long Island thing but I had a gold chain around my neck. You guys should make a gold plated ball chain for the fixed blade neck knife so it doesn’t turn green around your neck.
That's awesome......God bless America 🇺🇸..... and does bhq still have that patch wall you were building at one time???i just wondered what happened to all those patches that were on the "patch wall"at bhq??? I just wondered what happened to them all? If you happen to know..hopefully you have them all..and are proudly displaying them
I didn't have a necklace back in the day. But I did get a tribal style hena tattoo. Then I had an allergic reaction and my skin under the henna bubbled up and pealed. Then I had a scar in the shape of the hena for about 5 years 😅
So, question.... thoughts on thumbstud placement? I have seen such a variety of places that thumbstuds have been placed... and one thing is that they can eventually get in the way of sharpening if placed wrong or in the cutting path. Something I've been observing lately.
You should make some cool Halloween lander scales. Just saying as easy as they are to swap out make some for the season. Even do other holidays. That's be awesome I'd buy them all.
33:18 What's the story on that mask in the background? Is that from Africa too? Looks cool and if it goes with his blade from there, might be a good idea to get a hanger mount to display the knife with the mask.
(Long comment haha ) Was able to make it to Yalls Store!!!!! And I live in North Carolina!! We were on a missions trip to go help a church out and we were 30mins away from the store. Googled when yall opened, google said 10am, we uber there at 9:15. And me and my brother @tysingerknifeandtool were waiting outside, ( saw two mule deer ) and then I noticed the door ( Mon-Fri ) and so I point that out, then we were super bummed, TILL WE MET KEITH and he said that today! ( 10-26-24 ) was yalls FIRST Saturday opened to test it out! So I hope a couple of dudes from NC helps yall decide if yall should stay open on Saturdays or not, and we both bought a baby banter fixie! And we also got a tour of the place 😉 Keith was awesome!
And that blade that James was showing... that looks almost like a blade that's in a ratcheting pipe cutter for doing plumbing!!!!!or some type of plumbing tool like that..i think
Awesome show! I'm trying to transition into carrying a folder from fixed blades. I probably have close to 40 fixed blades. And some good ones too. I haven't yet purchased anything of any good value yet for a folder other than A Ontario Rat 1 that I really love the size of and works for what I need. But I want something with a button lock and of good quality so I can see what the hype is all about. Do you have a blade that is close in size to the Rat 1 ? I could probably get use to even something a little smaller. But I have xl hands so small blades are Abit hard to utilize well. Thanks
I’m wearing a ball chain necklace with a silver pendant from Mexico. The pendant is a canine tooth full of lucky symbols. The symbols include a horse shoe, a four leaf clover, black cat, elephant, 13
This might be pure sacrilege but I kinda wish Protech did more non-autos. I like their design language and execution far more than I do side-opening autos. I have a few, and don't get me wrong, they're super cool, but with EDC I tend to prefer manual knives or OTF's for ease of closing.
For the knives like the Banters that are fully we/civivi branded but designed by Ben, do the proceeds from those purchases go to KNAFS or just to Ben? Just wondering about how the KNAFS folks feel about those knives and if they’re incentivized to try and sell them 🤔 Also, when are we getting an Austin and/or Jamie designed knafs?
That’s deep inside baseball. I like baseball, but not that much. 😏 In short: it’s been 6 years of interesting variations of all types between those two parts of the biz. It’s in a place now that feels like equilibrium.
I made my necklace. It's 2 quarters and 4 dimes(pre 64) melted to an ingot, and hammer forged. Hanging on a crkt minimalist paracord. I'll send a Pic if you want? I'd totally make a couple for you guys:)
Hey Ben.... do you have a XXXXXXXL C.R.K.T ??or anything that's obscenely large that they made that you were able to get???,I think when knife companies have a 'sense of humor ".. you know what I'm talking about right ??? The XXXXXXL C.R.K.T?? LOL I WANT ONE
As far as the outdoor businesses closing, they all seem to be on the higher priced end of equipment. The competition has become very very good and prices are coming down as a result. Some of the “overpriced “ companies are feeling it. It’s similar to the knife industry.

The mystery "blade" is the ratcheting blade off of a PVC of PEX cutter.
Right! Came here to say that! Feel sorry for the fella that lost his cutter!
Came to say that too.
Dave and all the people at Pro-Tech deserve the hype! They're awesome and have amazing knives.
Dave is a real one.

Minnesota is an awesome place. Born there but raised in Colorado. Minnesota always feels like home to me
90s classic, I rocked the shark’s tooth necklace
Ben's favourite line is "I love it" and Austin's "bad boy" 😂
As always, love the show.
Congrats on the feature! My Lander 2 is our for delivery as I watch this!
Heck yeah!
9:45 its a pipe cutter blade
Yep, Milwaukee ratcheting pvc pipe cutter blade. Take it from a plumber. :-)

Another fire episode gentlemen. Absolutely love that 100x Lego. The skeleton Lego was one of my favorite pieces when I first discovered it.
I wore a pooka shell, ball chain, and some Hawaiian Kikui nut shell necklaces during that time 🫠 also wore Jncos n Kikwear pants lol

It is Joe. I’m glad you like the beef burrito.
I'm so excited for the Chaves collab! Pooka and hemp for me. Congrats on the awards Ben!
Ohh man going back to the 90's. I wore a hemp necklace or one of those heishi bead necklaces. Awesome video!

I believe the mystery blade is from a set of pruning loppers, with a ratcheting mechanism.
The mystery blade is from a ratcheting pruner or hose cutter
Great knifes but also great watches
